Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Was our best in round 1.

Just a young fella adjusting to the speed of the game. He'll be alright.

IKR. I've never seen a player have a fresh-airey when attempting a handball. Wild scenes.

Harvey Langford Rising Star nomination Rd 3
Our young players are all looking great and need to prioritised ahead of our senior players who have dropped the ball.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Everyone getting sucked into the contest is the players being selfish and not trusting their teammates rather than a coaching issue. I'd take two of Viney, Oliver and Petracca out of the midfield and replace them with Langford and one of Kozzy or Windsor. You need outside receivers to get the ball and get a move on, our mix is too samey and totally out of form.

You can't really fully commit to that until you sack the current coach.

Yes a strawman is when you make up a completely different argument to the one you're responding to which you seem intent on doing. Not engaging with this. Have a good night.

Wowee talk about a straw man. I'm not letting them off the hook at all. What I'm saying is there's only so much you can do when the collective group stops functioning as a team. These attitudes have permeated like a virus due to poor leadership at the club. You can't drop everyone to Casey. Besides Goodwin has gone to great lengths to pursue this new mantra of love and positivity against all odds. This had lead to relaxed training standards and flexible schedules. The players have been given this power by the coach. That's on him. But I'm not going to continue engaging with you if you keep putting words in my mouth and insulting my intelligence.

Time to go Goody?
The way in which we are playing like we did in the Neeld era is that we look completely disinterested and unnacountable. Neeld basically never won over the players and so his tenure was never going to lead to any success. To me, Goodwin looks like he's lost the players. I also think that after flip-flopping on the gameplan last year he really can't do that again this year. If this one fails then how could the players ever get behind his message ever again? When a coach is sacked players tend to get a bit more freedom to play their natural games is what I mean. Structures are a lot more loose. Depends on the coach but that's just my observation. But again, interim coaches don't matter at all. Sacking Neeld was the right call as it allowed us to openly pursue Roos. The fact that Craig didn't have any success was irrelevant. Right now our players look like they're not really invested, that's the most damning thing that will soon be an untenable situation if Goodwin can't turn it around. I'm not sure I fully understand your point about the players thinking for themselves. The coaches role is to get all the players on the same page and playing like a team. A good coach will bring the best out of their players talents, I don't think that's happening right now and the players aren't even executing basic fundamentals at the moment.

Usually interim coaches release the shackles a bit. It's a strange comparison though. Our list is far far better than it was then. Besides sacking a coach is a decision for the long term, the year is written off but you get clear air to find a replacement.

Media Madness
A few years is an eternity in football. A bit presumptuous to think the job will be automatically his by then.

Starting to feel like we got hoodwinked by this review and have opened the door to a bunch of quacks. The players have training, what three days a week? And on at least two of those days the players are just bludging and messing around. At least the players are learning how to accept losing as we'll be doing a lot of that this season.

Seems like our wins aren't in public view either!

Any chance of us practicing the gameplan we're apparently trying to learn?

I feel like this is just semantics. He's a short term president who has taken on the job until Smith is ready in a years time. It's the definition of interim.

Time to go Goody?
Some of the vision we're seeing of our efforts over the past couple of weeks is truly damning and screams of a team who don't believe in their coach, system or teammates. Realstically Goodwin has two months to turn this around before the club will be forced to make a decision. I don't see a way for Goodwin to resolve this with his current all positive lovey-dovey approach. At some point you need to give the players some hard truths.

Time to go Goody?
Goodwin has a horrible record at our home ground pretty sure it's below 50% Conversely he's had a much better record on the road than any other coach in my lifetime, but that record isn't going to look as flattering by years end.

Time to go Goody?
Do you think that we're playing to the level we're capable of? Personally I feel the players look completely lost right now and have very little belief in what they're doing. So much [censored] has happened over the past few years on and off the field. I really just think the club needs a fresh start and some clear air.

Pressure to perform will always be there. It's part of the job.

Forward line questions
I seriously can't work out what we're trying to do with our forwardline. They all seem to hover around in their starting positions rather than creating any actual space or movement. We have shown a desire to take the corridor more but it's all in vain as we get to our front half the half forwards are all flat-footed and too close to the midfielders and so we just boot it to the same spot that's easy to defend. You watch other sides and they'll have some of their forward push up closer to the contest, a couple sit deep and then hold a shape that will allow them to lead into space or at least compete in a one on one. Our forwards just seem to hold their position then when the ball comes in they all try and jump for the same ball and run into each other as a result. It shouldn't be as hard as we make it look.
