Not a debate. The final 8 is an AFL construct purely for revenue. You don't win from the bottom 4. It's basically a nonsense. Final 5 was far and away the best. So we 'make the finals'. 8th out of 18. Not a resounding effort. Yep, try to win every game but the reward of missing out outweighs the nebulus affect of one 'final'.

Fair enough but would you really want to fall into the 8? Extends the season by a minimum 2-3 weeks. History tells you that you can't win the flag 5-8. In current format only Bulldogs did it in 2016 with mitigating circumstances. Of course we try but I'd be happy with a couple of wins and honourable losses. If they are going to blood him this season no better time than under the roof at Marvel with pristine conditions. I doubt they will but wish they would. Should he perform in our last 4 AFL games it could shape our off season recruitment thinking.

Absolutely and emphatically agree with this. Given the likely event that we won't make finals it will be the first time in 3 years since we've had an extended post season break and early return to pre season. Likely to get a pick 6-10 is gold. With numerous retirements and delistings and salary cap space October is very exciting. Apart from the Freo games and perhaps one or two others we have been competitive in an incredibly difficult season for the Demons. Could have easily defeated Lions, Blues and Giants and been in the top 4. Great comeback last night. Petracca back, Clarry with a full off season and young players ore advanced I'm excited and optimistic.

Giants are a real chance this season . Dangerous. Our fadeout was poor but comeback extremely admirable against a formidable opponent. Finals not really in the equation now. Good pick coming our way. Hope Jefferson and others get a crack in the remaining rounds.

One of the worst in living memory. Plethora of misguided handballs whilst Giants do nothing but kick. Coaching must play a part but players dumb. Tomlinson has checked out as a defender. Hore looks good in the wide spaces but unaccountable. Thankfully the result means nothing.

Are any of the Casey defenders actually going to defend or just kick chase? One of the most dominant performances one could witness by a team in these conditions and likely lose. Quite unbelievable .

In fairness the wind is very tricky particularly at the end to right of screen. Jefferson is an excellent kick at goal.

Jefferson is a really exciting prospect. Generally at VFL conditions don't suit him but he still performs. Will benefit greatly in AFL conditions and delivery. Ground work is exceptional for a big man particularly in the wet.

Howes is a classy player with heaps of potential however his lack of intensity is his achilles atm.

All points to Sparrow getting the message. 10 disposals and tackling like a beast. Love to see him bring this at AFL level.

Cal Twomey has Sam Marshall going at 21. He's usually a very good judge. We could land around pick 10 which would be very handy indeed.
