The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Skuit replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca is a rare, rare talent. Once he gets on a roll he will be as unstoppable as any of our game's recent greats, with, dare I say it, a presence akin to Buddy or Betts. That snap on the weekend was sublime - the 40m bunt to Watts from range, or lining up for an orthodox set-shot, not so much. Coach the basics, but he needs to be given license to trust his instincts and back himself in. -
And by Tmac's own appraisal, Oscar was a bit of a late bloomer at junior level as well, noted for a dramatic improvement in his final year.

This is from Wikipedia, but . . . He made his AFL debut in the opening round of the 2011 season against West Coast at Patersons Stadium where he recorded twenty disposals, fourteen hitouts, five marks, four clearances and three tackles.[9] After Todd Goldstein was a late withdrawal for North Melbourne, Pedersen was forced to play as the main ruckman against six-time All-Australian ruckman, Dean Cox.[10] Conceding ten centimeters in height to Cox, Pedersen had the advantage in the ruckman duel and was North Melbourne's "Mr fix-it" according to The Age journalist, Tim Clarke.[11] Also: Pedo has just about the longest Wiki page of any AFL footballer. Nice to know he's keeping himself busy when not in the firsts.

Bring in Trenners against an opposition who just smashed the premiers on the outside? I think Bugg would be the logical (and sensible) replacement for Bernie.
-
I probably lost the equivalent of a full nail as well watching them all line-up for goals on the weekend.
-
I don't have the full stats - but at the 10min mark of the final quarter, the AFL.com match feed commented that Zac Smith was leading Watts 10-1 in hit-outs to advantage and the Cats had won 10 of the last 11 clearances. It would be lunacy rather than left-field.

I meant in the sense that we could get him for anywhere even near that amount.

Imagine Max went down this time last year? Demonland meltdown. We've come a long way with our MFCSS in a short space of time.

Yes, you are dreaming. One of those crazy fevered dreams.

ALFCA votes: Dangerfield - 8 Hunt - 8 Selwood - 6 Jones - 3 Blicavs - 3 Hawkins - 2 My guess as to a breakdown for this week - Good Scott 5) Hunt Selwood 4) Danger Danger 3) Jones Hunt 2) Blicavs Hawkins 1) Selwood Blicavs

How can you possibly argue that Hogan's absence had a significant impact on the result, unless it's to suggest it allowed us so many shots on goal. We know how we played without him, which by many forward measures was really well (29 scoring shots to 3/4 time). We have no way of knowing how we would have played with him - though a pretty solid argument could be made for less front-half tackles/pressure acts and more long bombs into the f50.
-
Surgery? Did they reattach his nail?
-
Brilliant. This goes straight into my kitbag of internet slags.
-
What about that ANB goal, huh? And Clayton claiming it.
-
Spencer and Pedo for Gawn and Weid. The rest can go again and try to kick straight.
-
I don't commonly comment on the umpires. We obviously didn't get the rub today. But that Jones 'advantage' and holding the ball seriously hurt at the start of the final qtr. in quelling any potential momentum.
-
It's the regression we had to have.
-
I blame ANB. For his garbage effort in exposing Oliver as human.
-
We just announced our arrival but few will hear it for the forest. Can't wait to play this crew again in the finals. Demonland should be interesting this week . . .

I had a couple drinks last night and now I can't find my damn lid. C'mon Dees!
-
Cheers for the advice fndee. Fixed.

Hurt Collingwood significantly as well.

I'm a writer and couldn't have scripted a better result if I'd tried. One of our genuine final 8 competitors is now 0-3 with a trip to WA vs the Eagles next week. One of our arch-enemies who we shouldn't have an issue with managed to stumble over the line in a clumsy fashion and by the smallest of margins to go 1-2 - in the process keeping their clown-college of a coach in the job. In this same respect, I wish all the good fortune that comes the way of Toiges tomorrow. Go Richmond, rah rah rah!
