Zebras v Bendigo Bombers [Reserves Game]
sylvinator replied to Beach Road Bazza's topic in Melbourne Demons
where are buckley, neaves, garland, frawley, neville? -
and btw, im bloody excited to see newton play. ive neva seen him play before but iv definitely gotten caught in the hype of his vfl performances. GO THE NEXT NEITZ
-
Frawley playing at sandy as key position defender full games will improve his development. wen he plays for seniors he plays half games as a flanker. That's why him playing a few games for sandy will help him be ready to hit the afl hard next season. (of coarse he should still play a few senior games) and that suggestion makes alot of sense. most key postion players need development at vfl level before they make an impact in afl. secondly, while i agree we should be playing for the future, buckley does not seem to be ready to hit the afl. why push him out of his depths before he's ready. he should be put into the team after being in the bests for sandy a few weeks in a row. it really bothers me when people wanna just chuck youngsters in the team for the sake of making the team younger. the young guyz need their development period, and buckley's time will come, just at Newtons has just arrived. Just let the kid develop at his own rate FFS lastly, everyone seems to be vehemently defending CJ. I hope u guyz are right and he becomes a star, but after an extremely promising preseason he has failed miserably this year. in the afl level he was absolute crap, and he hasnt been consistently in the best an sandy either. I think people who defend him are just annoyed that some people have a harsh opinion on a player who's dad was such a good player. he is not up to it. He is slow, and his decision making and peripheral vision are below standard. he also is not a hard nut either. except for good skills he does not have an exceptional chacarteristic (like pace, hardness, decisionmaking, or football nous) that elps get players from vfl level to great afl players. good on him if he proves me wrong! i stand by my original post

It was "DEMON WITHIN" who called in and told SEN about the demonland 'pay so he can play'... iv neva been so excited about a debut
-
CJ should not be on an afl list at years end. very good changes this week. frawley needs to develop his game at sandy. remember he has hardly played any vfl football this season bc of injury. he should play 5-6 of the remaining games this season so he'l be ripe and ready to be a starting 22 next season. the only players who i would like to see in the team who are not included for friday night are 1) whelan- injured for sandy otherwize would have played. was showing good form till wrist injured 2) Dunn- he should play 7-8 games in the second half of the year, but he is still devloping so having him at sandy isnt so bad 2) Buckley- should play 5-6 games by years end, but must continue to devlop his game at sandy. not ready yet 4)Garland- see buckley. should be played 5-6 games Miller should be tried as key position defender to replace holland a few games. Warnock should be tried as mobile/key defender a few games to see if he's up to it the only other starting 22 players out are rivers, moloney, Bartram, Yze- all are inured. this is as close to our best 22 as we'v had all season. y are ppl complaining.
-
i agree that guyz like rivers and bartram have already taken over Godfrey and Bizzel. BUT, incase of injuries they should be kept as quality depth. Holland is one guy who has not yet been overtaken by a youngster. Frawley, Miller or Warnock should take over eventually, but at the moment all of these guyz would be killed by the Gehrig, Rocca and the like. we must develop someone to take over him asap
-
neville is out of contract this year. anyone who doesnt include him as a definite as one of the 4-5 deilistings we make at years end has no idea. guyz like Godfrey, bizzel and Holland will be kept as depth because they still give good output until the younger players are able to take over. godfrey- eventually Bartram will take over Holland- eventually Frawley or miller will take over the guerilla forwards Bizzel- eventually rivers/pettard will take over the general of the backline role

in the last 4 seasons, carlton have won less than 20 games. carlton's list is still a rabble. PAGAN IS DUMP. He was lucky to coach a team with Carey in it and he could base his team around him. Since then he has proven he is not up to it. I onestly cant believe carlton have still kept him as coach considering his [censored] results since he came to the club.

realistically we will only make a maximum of 7 changes to our list at years end. we will draft 5 and maybe 1 via the PSD and maybe one via trade. If we intend to make 7 changes, then 7 players have to go. i think it will be 4 delistings and 3 (forced) retirements. the 4 delistings will come out of this group of players: Ferguson, Neville, Jamar, C.Johnson, Miller, Warnock the 3 (forced) retirements will come from this group: Pickett, Ward, Brown, Holland, Bizzel, Yze. Of coarse the players out of that group that are not delisted will stay on our list as depth players. I see Bizzel, Yze, Holland, Jamar and Warnock as being kept as depth. I see Jamar and Miller as the only players in that group who could have trade value. If we could get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for them then we should 100% take that trade. If we are going to trade a big name player, then Bruce and Green should be offered because they have very high trade value and we could get something great for them (also they are 26-27). players like rivers, mclean, jones and other youngsters should be definite offlimits. our young talent must be kept together.
-
its been said already... but our old players are not integral parts of our team apart from neitz and white. all the rest are replaceable and are basically depth at this stage in their carreers. guys like ward, brown, holland, pickett and co are on the list basically until the youngsters improve enough to take over. this season guyz like pettard, bate, sylvia, bell, jones and PJ have improved out of sight. dunn, newton, Frawley, Buckley, Garland will continue to improve in the second half of the season. they will all be given a go now that our season is shot. with these guyz improving, the importancde of our old depth players in decreasing. alot of these guyz will struggle to be on the list by years end. players who could be gawn at years end- Ward, Brown, Pickett, Neville, Jamar, Ferguson others playing for their careers second half of the year- Miller, Yze, Warnock, C.Johnson players who must be close to retirement- Holland, Bizzel, Neitz, Mcdonald

no offense to anyone inperticular, but anyone who has the view that we should not try to win more than 5 games this year and even aim for a priority pick next season HAS NO CLUE!!!! firstly, i think it's relevent to say that any self-respecting footballer would simply cringe at the idea of their team winning 8 games in 2 years. how a supporter could actually hope for this is beyond me. secondly, show me the proof of one team in the history of the afl (since the draft was introduced in the 1980s) that has won a premiership from bottoming out. Did westCoast, Sydney, PortAdelaide, Essendon, Brisbaine, kanagaroos...does any one actually believe that these teams became the best side in the comp by repeatedly coming last and then suddenly shooting up? the answer is that it has never happened, and will never happen. look at the top teams this year...geelong built their team from midrange draft picks. so did sydney and westCoast. thirdly, more important than anything else is introducing a winning culture into our team. this is soo frikin important its crazy. and people honestly believe we will be able to have such a culture from bottoming out. i honestly want us to win as many games as possible this year. if we win 9 games and come 10th...big deal!!! do people honestly believe that getting pick 6 instead of pick 4 will make any difference in the long run? what will make a different is for us to make steady improvement in the second half of this year and continue that improvement next season. and most important of all, by doing this we might actually gain some respect in the competition. unlike carlton who have won 24 games in the lasts 5 years. to put that in perspective, fitzroy in their last 5 years in the afl won 27 games!!! and do carlton really look like being the next big thing in the afl. hell no! PEOPLE WHO DESIRE US TO BOTTOM OUT i can only assume want to watch the next 5 seasons seeing us come last, with no real reason to believe it will help us win a premiership... get us a winning culture because that will get us much closer
-
everyone is begging for newton to play this friday, but it seems he got injured just before 3/4 time. espeically with a 5 day break, y play his first game half injured?
-
Voss should 100% be offered an assistent coaching job...at the very least
-
i have yet to see a premiership won from a team having bottomed out a few years in a row.
-
the point isnt that guyz like Bate and Mclean arent great. bc they are and theyl continue to improve. however, if there are too many shizen guyz out of the 22 is the problem. if u look at my first post, there are far too many players just outside our best 22 who are so old that theyll retire in the next 2 years or r not up to afl standard.
-
guyz like godfrey, ferguson, holland and ward have zero trade value. last year ward, ferguson and others were offered for trade. nobody was interested. the guyz who might have 3rd 4th round value include miller and jamar. if someone wants them for that price we should definitely take it, because otherwize they will just be delisted and we'll get nothing for them. if we want to get a serious player into the club then guyz like davey, bruce or green have to put up for trade. people must get real. if u want quality you have to be willing to trade quality. i also think we should looking at getting some better, younger depth players. i wouldnt be averse to getting a couple of fringe players from the top afl clubs who cant get a game this year. i think i guy like Nicoski (WCE), Ryley Dunn (Freo), Ryan Murphy (Freo), Kane Tenace (geelong), Shannon Byrnes (geelong), Jaymie Graham (WCE) could be much better depth than our current list outside our best 22, plus they are young and can improve.
-
he will not be at the club in 3 years time. i guerentee that. he is too slow and unathletic for modern afl football. and he doesnt have a brilliant footy brain to conpensate for his lack of speed and athleticism.
-
fickle supporters are those who wanted daniher as coach last week and dont want him as coach this week. THAT IS FICKLE!!! i, however, have always thought that 10 years as senior coach without a premership is enough. last week i believed this and this week is remains true. i dont think they should sack him mid year. what good would that do. NOTHING! daniher has been a great servant of the club. let him bow out at years end with dignity and we'll start afresh next year with a new coach. guy Mckenna for coach
-
There are 12 players who we should not have on an afl list if we are gonna win a premiership: Pickett, Jamar, Ferguson, Neville, C.Johnson, Warnock, Godfrey, Ward and Miller that's 9 players! honestly some of these guyz are triers, but are not really afl standard. we will NEVER win a premiership with them on the list: Now for the players that are going to retire in the next 2 (maaayybbee 3) years: Holland (31), Brown (30), Ward (29), Pickett (30), Yze (30), Neitz (32), White (31), Mcdonald (31), Robertson (29), Bizzel (30) That's 10 players! it is important to note that most of these players realistically overlap with the list of players not up to afl standard! So, the overall list of players that will not be on our list in 2-3 years time because of delisting/ retirement: Neitz, White, Mcdonald, Bizzel, Holland, Brown, Ward, Pickett, Yze, Robertson, Godfrey, Miller, Jamar, Ferguson, Neville, C.Johnson, Warnock That's an incredible 17 players that will be turned over in the next 3 years! there is no argument for any of these players to suggest they can last past 3 years!!!!!!!! And that assuming that players like Buckley, Garland and Weetra will become good afl players. a big assumption. so let's add one more to the list of players needed to be turned over in the next 2-3 years. That's a whopping 18 players. My point is: our list is stuffed. even if we pick up 5 draftees a years for the next 3 years (we ussually only pick up 4 a year), that's only 15 players. and the face is that 5 of those 15 will not make it at afl level. that statistics prove this. This means that junk players will be on our list when they shouldn't be. players like godfrey, ferguson, miller, C.Johnson should not be on an afl list but will probably remain on our list because we have noone to replace them. imo this has been the problem of the demons list in the past 10 years. we've never been able to get the shizen players off our list. the other 22 players of our list that i didnt include on the list of players to get rid of are all quality. i have much faith in the likes of Jones, Bate, Pettard, Mclean, Rivers, Moloney, Sylvia, Davey, Bell etc....However u cant win a premeirship when outside the best 22 is sooo bad. i cant believe we have such an old list
-
yze is untradeable
-
newton cant get a look in. if he isnt even on the radar after being the most prolific goalscorer on our list the last 5 weeks and our FF goes down...one wonders how he will sqeeze into the team.
-
i hope newton is better than essendon's supposed messiah
-
brock is a champion and will captain our club in years to come... however he does not go very well in the looks department. let's be honest guyz he's uglier than sin haha. i would be very impressed if he could snag a model because it would give all us blokes hope
-
people on this board make him sound like a superstar. from his descriptions i wonder why he wasnt drafted pick1, had everyone raving about him and how he's the neitz wayne carey...
-
i want him to debut just so demonland can start talking about something else...haha the only topics of discussion on demonland: 1) when will newton debut 2) is bell overrated 3) is miller any good 4) how weak is Yze 5) bruce can't kick 8) we all love Mclean atleast we've moved on from last years continual discussion on how [censored] dutchy and godfrey are. go dees. btw i reckon it's bloody great that this young guy can keep the fans excited even when our season is shot. i've never seen him play, but iv heard all the reports of his vfl performances and i'm bloody excited. if he plays im imagining our savior next FF to lead us to glory!
