garland to frawley and newton all getting involved. newton missed a sitter, when he played on instead of going back and taking a set shot...how annoying -

theres a 4-5 goal breeze sandy scored 5 goals first quater. 2 robbo, 1 newton, 1 garland, 1 sautner (from a terrific double effort from newton who rapped the williamstown player holding the ball, spilled to sautner who took the advantage to kick an easy goal) gallagher, poyas playing well for the sandy affiliate. newton and robbo playing well up forward. newtons been involved in 3 goals -

is newton playing? with robbo coming back next week, will this guy ever play senior footy? with neitz, robbo, dunn and miller all in the team i suspect not. -
in two weeks we'll have our full list to choose from... how unfortunate that by this stage we will not have a chance for the finals... i would love to see us win around 7 games, and stuff up a few teams on their way to the finals. it would give us a top 4 draft choice (which will add a certain 200 game player to our list...far better than the picks 12-18 we have had in previous years) and confidence coming into next year. it will also mean that guyz like pettard, bell, mclean, sylvia, dunn, bate, P.johnson, Jones and frawley can start next year as starting 18 players... if we came 5-8th this year again then we would probably enter next year with these guyz still completely untried. and the reality is that in your first couple of full seasons of afl you will probably not be consistent. these guyz will be better off and more consistent for this season. it will also mean that guyz like bizzel, ferguson, wheatley, ward and brown will no longer have to be kept on the list in case the untried youngsters arent up to it. we will know who's up to it, and these guyz will be delisted. next years starting 18 (i hope) whelan, carrol, frawley pettard, rivers, bell moloney, mclean, johnstone green, dunn, yze davey, neitz, robertson white, bruce, mcdonald Int: P.Johnson, Sylvia, Jones, Bartram, Newton, Buckley, Bate depth: Godfrey, Garland, (number 4 draft pick), C.Johnson

is it just me, or does AM only go u to 1602...wats the deal -
with warnock, holland and ferguson all proven that they won't be the answer to our k.p.p problems for a future premiership side, it just makes frawleys development so much more important. we need another tall backman behind rivers and carrol, i hope he is the answer. mclean and robbo back next week means it will probably be our best 22

seeing as the rule is 12 melbourne players and 10 non-listed players (i believe this is the rule) then 2 melbourne listed players will be lining up for sandy ressies this week. one is definitely bode, the second looks like being garland. robbo will only play a half a game on the field, and with garland an unlikely started, newton still has a definite chance to kick a bag
-
it is not only easy to believe, it is easy to see it on the park every week. considering bruce is not a quick player, how do u explain him consistently getting 25 possies a game. he runs his arse off all day, that's how he attracts the ball
-
we should rookie list valenti next year. he would be in our starting 18 if he were on our list. is very young and talented. and yes ive seen him play in the flesh, and he's good

Voss preparing for coaching & Lot to learn, Vossy
sylvinator replied to Finks's topic in Melbourne Demons
i love him as assistent coach...not ready for the full time caoching position without that experience in the big time. -
i would like to see frawley played in the backpocket position, and given some tough jobs on quicker forwards as well as guerilla forwards to see whether he can handle it. he will take over ben holland eventually so we need to test him against the bigger bodied boys. newton to play atleast 10 games this year as a forward. and given lots of game time. sylvia to eventually move to the midfield (remember he is only unfit because he hasn't had a preseason) pettard to play full games for the entire season. buckley to play 10 games. P.Johnson to play a more rucking role. with jamar no longer a viable option, he must become a solid ruckman to compliment his around the ground ability. he will be important to our team if he can become a competant ruckman. i would lastly like to see guyz like ward, brown and holland to slowly be given less and less game time and eventually dropped altogether to be replaced by youngsters. they are all decent footballers but they are not our future.
-
i too thought C.Johnson would be a huge improver this year, a certain starting 18 after his impressive preseason... he has dissapointed and is too slow, has poor awareness and does not read the play well. he is a flanker and there are so many that are before him whelan, pettard, bell, yze, brown, ward, green, davey and others are all justifiably ahead of him for the flanker spots. i hope he can improve but he hasnt even shown glimpses in the games hes played. if he still cannot push for selection by years end he should be delisted. dramatic improvements are needed to his game if he is to play next season

i have some insider news!!!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN UP! there will be a 4 way trade up coaches next year. Sheedy of essendon will be coaching the Tigers next season (he is in their team of the century B.P and is a favourite son) Daniher of Melbourne to Essendon (He is Essendon's favourite son) Terry Wallace of Richmond to Carlton (The team he really wanted to coach but lost out to Pagan a few years back) D.Pagan of Carlton to Melbourne (Melbourne is desperate need of a quality coach who can turn their extremely talented side into premiership success) It is a win-win for every body and is almost certain to eventuate. i'm happy with Pagan. Some argue that he is a coach more suited to a different era of football, but i think he can still coach in modern football. If this does not eventuate: Out next best options are - Longmire - any other sydney assistent coach - G.Odonnel - M.Voss

M.Whelan, N.Carrol, D.Bell N.Pettard, J.Rivers, B.Green B.Moloney, B.Mclean, T.Johnstone M.Bate, B.Miller, A.Yze R.Robertson, D.Neitz, A.Davey J.White, C.Bruce, J.Mcdonald interchange: P.Johnson, L.Dunn, C. Sylvia, N.Jones Emerg: C.Bartram, N.Brown, S.Godfrey back up k.p.p: B.Holland, R.Ferguson, Warnock, M.Jamar Back up runners: C.Johnson, B.Pickett, D.Ward, P.Wheatley, C.Bizzel Developing players: Frawley, Garland, Newton, Buckley, Weetra, Neville Rookies: Hughes, Neaves, Bode, (Hayes) That's our full list at its best... if the opposition have a guerilla forward, then B.Holland comes into the team. If there is a definite need to shut down a player then Bartram comes in. The back up k.p.p and runners should be used as depth only. of our developing players, i sincerely hope Frawley, Newton and Buckley force there way into the starting 18 by years end. Weetra and Garland cannot be expected to make any impact till 2008. Neville is gawwn

if miller were traded i think he would be great for another club, but i dont think he fits into our structure at all... could be very good trade bate
-
i thought miller had a terrific first half to the game, constantly presenting and taking a few strong marks on the lead. after he strained ligaments in his ankle, he came back on but was clearly not right...so he is forgiven. he has been one of our better players this year. he tries his guts out and has performed remarkably well while neitz and robbo have been injured. just coz of a couple of poor performances, im sick of people saying he should be dropped i mean honestly, ignorant, stupid posters such as yourself said davey should be dropped after 2 mediocre performances round 2 and 3. since then he has averaged 25 possies, 6 marks and 2.25 goals a game for 4 matches straight...so too, miller should not be dropped after only a couple of poor performances, when overall he has been great this season.

daniher said in an interview on the tv that mclean was atleast 2 weeks away (last week)
-
i think it is clear their was no malicious intent with your comments deenox, however the joke is in poor taste and considering the world politics at the moment, it is quite a sensitive issue

we have made finals 4 out of the last 5 seasons with a limited list. we do not have 1 star in our team, and this is the reason we have not been real premiership contenders the last few years. the premiers (in fact all top 4 teams) have atleast a few stars...and no1 say sydney doesnt have stars because they have many, including hall, goodes, kirk and o'loughlin, while we have not a single champion... daniher cannot create champions, you cannot develop a mediocre player into a chamption, so with what he has had on offer he has done quite well...i still think 10 years without a premiership is too long and he should step down at season's end, for the simple need for change if nothing else... BUT, can we please stay on topic!!!!!!! should we play our youngsters and leave guyz like ward, brown, and co to rot in sandy depite being more capable of impacting a match than our 18 year olds... i think so (look at my post above)
-
i agree...we cannot make finals this year and we certainly cannot win the flag! therefore, i propose we play the kids, even though playing our more experienced players will make us more competative. it might mean this season will be painful, but it means we get a talented draft pick next year (i'm sick of having picks like 12,14,15,16 like we have had in past years...would be nice to have a top 5 so we can pick up a gem (ala mclean pick 5) so...drop players like ward, brown, holland and do not play bizzel. this is a harsh call because they will have better output than our youngsters, but decisions must be made if we are to go for a premiership next 2 years. also, if we are going to get this premiership, our youngsters need atleast 50 games under their belts coming into 2009 because otherwise they won't have as big an impact. decisions must also be made on fringe players. imo i would not play ferguson, jamar, or wheatley again and delist at season's end. similar decisions could be make regarding pickkett, warnok, godfrey and C. Johnson. All these players could be really good for mfc, but perhaps a hard decision must be made. My best 22 (with all players available) that should be played for the rest of the season. (Note: this is not the best 22 i would play if we had a chance for the finals!) FB: Whelan, Carrol, Frawley HB Pettard, Rivers, Bell C: N. Jones, Mclean, Johnstone HF: Bate, Dunn, Green FF: Robertson, Neitz, Davey Fol: White, Bruce, McDonald Interchange: Miller, P. Johnson, C.Sylvia, B. Moloney, A. Yze, C. Bartram, Buckley, Newton Emergency (i.e. next in line to come in when injuries occur, but hard decisions must be made regarding them at seasons end): C.Johnson, M. Warnock, Godfrey Developing (not quite ready for seniors yet)- Weetra, Neville, Garland, Hughes, Neaves, Bode Players to not play again this season (despite probably giving better output than the youngsters)- N. Brown, Ward, Ferguson, Jamar, Bizzel, Pickett, Wheatley it's harsh but when we add another 200 game mcleanesk player to our list next season and have 20 more games into our youngsters people will look back and be thankful. thoughts?

I am sick and tired of stupid, narrow-minded, short-term memory supporters calling for our best players heads after one poor game!!! This is a absolutely rediculous thread. It was the same with Miller last week and before he hurt his ankle he was terrific today. It was the same with davey and the last 4 weeks he has averaged 25 disposals, 6 marks and 2.25 goals a game. It was the same with sylvia (one of our best today...came of age) and with Yze (probably been our best player overall this season and imo would be leading our best and fairest (i am so happy with yze's output every week)... instead of basing things on one poor output, how about a little bit a thought put into the posts before they are written! rediculous thread neitz is our best leader, our captain and best forward!!! honestly this player bagging is getting old

The problem if that you your pun hints that muslims are terrorists, when it is only an small minority of Muslim extremists are... don't try to play stupid
-
if you're going to blame something for losing that match... BLAME OUR INABILITY TO WIN POSSESSION IN THE LAST 3 MINS WHEN WE WENT A POINT UP. 4 lost clearences in the last 3 mins is the reason we couldn't hang on, not lack of flooding

haha...nice one
