  1. people should not be too surprised if Cotchin slips to pick 3 (i doubt WCE would pass him up at number 3). Cale Morton is extremely highly regarded. many believe that he would be a worthy number1 draft pick. if Cale slipped through to number 4, we should be stoked that we potentially got the best player in the draft!!! obviously would be great for Cotchin to slip through, but im hoping Cale slips to us.
  2. most afl clubs have 4 ruckman on their list. if we let PJ go, we'd have to use a draft pick to get another one anyways...especially considering that Meeson still has some more developing to go before he will play seniors. PJ should be kept, and he deserves a spot. he didnt set the world on fire, but improved consistently this season. i can see him becoming a good back up ruck. maybe he can be developed into Holland's current role?
  3. surely u joking right. miller has shown in the last 2 years that he is not the answer to any of our key position problems. as a key defender, he is probably the worst in the afl. he is all at sea. what makes it even more rediculous is how hall demolished miller this year when we played the swans. as a key forward we know he can lead hard and mark. but he has no footy brain, and consitently dishes off these shitty handballs that do nothing. his posessions are useless, and considering he consistently gets the ball around 80m from goal (the most important place to receive the ball on the ground), this is inexcusable. also, he does not kick goals. full stop. if we can't trade him, he should be delisted. Bate, Dunn and Newton are all much better options at CHF. Bate especially is just a class act and shines in all of Miller's weaknesses. if we get pick 27 for him, id be stoked. we can use it to get some good talent. there will still be plenty of it at 27 in this years draft. if we chuck in johnstone and get pick 11 (maybe add buchanan), then we will be abstolutely stoked! pick11 in this draft is awesome (there are about 11 standouts) and we should go all out to get this pick. miller should be offloaded for anything we can get. after 6 seasons we know what he can do, and he will never become a star. he is an average footballer
  4. is Jaymie Graham actually up for a trade. i thought he signed a contract this year??? any one know any information on this??? Meeson- ours for pick 37 Ryan Murphey- should be our main target. will fit in perfectly. we desperately need another key forward for post neitz. id give up quite a lot to get him. Sherman- looks a handy player but only for cheap. he should not be targeted, rather just go for it if the opportunity arises. Buchanan- only if he's part of a deal as a sweetener (e.g. travis for 11+buchanan)...shouldnt be specifically targeted. will not significantly add to our side. all the rest not interested (Adcock's staying btw) bc i only want players that will make a contribution to our team and are under 25. any traded player should be able to fit into our best 18 easily. (meeson the exception bc we need longer term option post white)
  5. our main target over this trade period should focus 100% of our energies on Ryan Murphey from freo. he is a very promising key forward for freo but cant get a regular spot with Tarrant, Pavlich and Longmuir 3 quality permnant key forwards. he wouldnt cost too much, but he could easily fill our hole at chf. it also means that with CHF filled, we could pick up Rance at pick 4 and fill our hole in defence. imagine a defence of: Bell Carrol Rance (future gun key back) Frawley Rivers Pettard * with Bartram, Wheatley, Whelan, CJ rotating through. a real strong defence for the future. then a forward line of: Newton, Murphey, Bate Davey, Neitz, Robbo * with Dunn, Yze, Green, Bruce and others rotating through. Newton to eventually replace Neitz. Then add midfield of Mclean,Sylvia, Moloney,Bartram, Jones, Dunn, Green, Mcdonald, Johnstone, Bruce... adding a CHF and CHB makes all the difference. it's what our team really lacks. Murphey and Rance can fill those holes for the next 10 years
  6. Brad Green B+F positions: 2003: 7th 2004: 7th 2005: 5th 2006: 5th 2007: 4th That's why he should be captain in 2008. the guy in consitent, skillful and courageous. when given the captaincy in 2007 performed brilliently. is inspirational. no doubt he should be captain in 2008. what outstanding b&f performances. it's a credit to him. Green has come on as a player the way i hoped johnstone and bruce would. id like to see him play more in the forward line next season
  7. no, no, no. we dont want people like that at our club. he is old as well. woud be disgusted if we even spoke to him. he has ruined westcoasts culture and footbal reputation. people who want him, at 30something years old, are just silly.
  8. Craig cameron was quoted for saying in 'The Australian' that we were in a great position to get Meeson. as carlton and richmond arent interested in him, we can get him for nothing in the psd at pick 3. cameron said adelaide will be offered pick 38 or they can let him into the psd. "it's up to adelaide." it think its great they we are being ruthless and playing hardball with adelaide... however!!! i hope that adeladie accept pick 38 or Jamar...we should try to keep pick 3 in the psd, bc we could get another good pickup from a contracted player... if we trade pick 38 for Meeson, we could leave pick 3 in the psd open to pick up a guy like Luke Jerico or Damon White...they guyz would be useful if for free
  9. i think people will find that picks 2 and 3 are not locked in. many phantom drafts have Palmer at pick 3. wouldnt be surprised if Rance got a look in. for pick 4 it depends what we prioritize: Ruckman- Mcevoy Key forward- henderson key back- Rance midfielder- Morton/Masten/Palmer/Ebert... any of these 7 i'd be stoked with. up to CAC which of these he favours. agree a second top 10 pick would be invaluable
  10. also, Carlton is going to be scarily good next year... Chris Judd, Andrew Carrazo, Brendan Fevola, Brad Fischer, Marc Murphey, Bryce Gibbs, Heath Scotland, Nick Stevens, Kade Simpson, Jarryd Waite, Andrew Walker, Paul Bower, Shaun Hampson, Jordan Russel, Shaun Grigg + Kruiser!!! That is some rediculous young talent made up almost completely of 1st round picks. Jordan Russel- pick 9 Marc Murphey- pick 1 Andrew Walker- pick 2 Chris Judd- pick 3 Bryce Gibbs- pick 1 Paul Bower- pick 20 Shaun Hampson- pick 17 Shaun Grig- pick 19 just to name a few... with the best player in the afl they could easily make the 8 next year and will be huge challengers in 2 years.
  11. Carlton will give up pick 3 and 20 for sure...plus a player. Kennedy fits the mould, bc he is relatively expendable by Carlton, but was pick 4 in a strong draft and is a 20yrold 200cm key positioin player... people may think that pick 3,20 and kennedy is not much to give up... but when u think about it, its essentially 2 top5 picks (kennedy pick 4 only 2 years ago), plus pick 20 which could get a good player as well. 3 players> 1 player??? pick 3 and kennedy are sure to be 200game players. pick 20 could be great as well..who knows. still quite a lot to give up
  12. another year Travis Johnstone doesnt make top10 b&f!!! absolutely pathetic!!! thatis why he should be traded while he still has market value! he is a disgrace. for someone of his talent, he should be top 5 in our bnf every year, and should be taking the afl by storm. shame on u Johnstone. only 1 top10 bnf in 9 years at the club! also, good on Matthew Bate. i thought he had a fantastic year. he will hold down CHF in the future and will absolute dominate. sticky hands, great footy brain and good goal sense. Bate, Mclean, Sylvia and Rivers and the only 4 players on our list capable of being A+ players. let's hope they perform better than our potential stars of old (johnstone/green/bruce) who never became A- graders
  13. our under 23 team is awesome. our only problem is that we have holes in too many areas. When we fill those holes through good drafting in the next 2 years, we will become real contenders. that is the main reason why our time will be in 2009-2010 imo. Bell, Frawley, ???? Pettard, Rivers, Bartram Sylvia, Mclean, Dunn Bate, ?????, Buckley Davey, Newton, ?????? ?????, Jones, Moloney int: Garland (tall flanker), C.Johnson (flanker), Bode (flanker), P. Johnson(backup ruckman) we have 5 serious holes to fill. 1) another key forward to support Newton post Neitz era. Bate could become a CHF, but even so we need to find another key forward who can become a goal-kicker 2) another key backman to support Frawley and Rivers, prefereably a big bodied one who can take the monster forwards 3) a ruckman capable of taking up the number1 ruck duties. Meesan not sure yet. PJ will be a great backup ruck who can play around the grounds, but isnt a no1 ruck option atm. 4) a small forward to help out lil Davey 5) we could use a midfielder with serious pace These 5 areas can be filled through good trading. and im confident that once they are filled, we will be premiership material. pick 4 we can get: a) Rance- who will fill hole no.(2) B) Henderson- who will fill hole no. (1) c) Ebert/Palmer/Morton- will fill hole no. (5) d) McEvoy- who will fill hole no (3) e) Cyril Rioli- who could potentially fill hole nuber (4) and (5) my point is, that with pick 4 we can already start the process of filling up the holes in our list. another top10 pick would be unbelievable bc we could fill 2 holes in 1 draft. with some good drafting, ew might even pick up a gem with pick 21 and 37. Meeson we get for nothing via the psd and he could go a long way in filling hole (3). that's why i think we should trade to trade Johnstone, Miller, Jamar (if someone wants him) for some extra picks, so we can build our list the way we want it. the next premiership we will win will be on the back of Jones, Mclean, Sylvia, Rivers and Davey. NOT johnstone, green, bruce and Robbo.
  14. Johnstone for Jolly= no trade Johnsonte+miller For Jolly+pick11 = AN AWESOME TRADE!
  15. Gardner and co have long complained that the gap between the rich and poor clubs is getting wider and wider. i think this topic is topical again, bc Judd openly told MFC that the reason we arent his preference is bc of our bad training facilities. in the last 7 years, the premierships have all come from clubs with extremely good training facilities, strong finances and memberships. (westCoast, Sydney,Brisbane,Essedon...) Can teams like that Bulldogs, Kangas and demons realistically win a premiership when they train in crap facilities and have poor finances. We dont even use all of our salary cap bc we're so pov! bulldogs use 93% of their cap. that means they are using almost $800,000 less than Collingwood. that equal 2 really good players!!! The good news is that in 2 years we will have state-of-the-art facilities at olympic park! hopefully our finances will start to turn around. but for the next 2 years...can we be contenders even if we train in poor facilities and dont use all of our cap? will our new facilities in 2008-2009 give us a massively better chance of breaking our premiership drought or will it make no difference at all? one things for sure, it'l give us a better chance of securing the likes of Judd if they ever come on the market in the future.
  16. i agree deanox. if we do [censored] next year, itl be a miserable year for me. but i don't think we will bottom out, nor do i think we should bottom out. next year we should play the youngster, and hopefully they will suprise us with their development (like Collingwood this season) and we'll come top 4. the only thing is, that even if we come top 4 next year, our list is still not good enough for a premiership. there are too many gaping holes. we should keep trying to improve our youngsters, and recruit well in the next 2-3 years, so that in 2009-2010 all the gaps will be filled. this way we will have a realistic chance of winning a premiership, and not the same old story coming 5th-8th without being a real contender. Trading someone like a 29yrold Robbo, or a 27 yrold Johnstone would fast track this process and give us the best chance to recruit the best youngsters. it seems clear to me that our current list lacks in too many areas...recruiting well is essential in the next 2 years. just my opinion.
  17. Anyone who believes that we can go for a premiership in the next 2 years, with our list in its current state, obviously has learnt nothing from 2007. it is so painfully clear this year that our list is not premiership material. im sorry, im a biased demons supporter, but it's true. we have big holes in our list which need filling. the only way to do this is through the draft. With Judd it would have been a different story. he is the best player in the afl, and he would have made our midfield into premiership material. alas, he wont be in MFC next year. The good news is that we have a terrific groups of youngster drafted in the last 5 years. Mclean,Jones, Sylvia, Bate, Rivers, Davey, Bell, Moloney, Pettard, Batram, Newton, Dunn, , Frawley, P.Johnson (ill add Buckley and Garland bc i rate them highly as untried youngsters)... this forms an extremely powerful and strong basis for a team. if we draft well in the next 2 years, we will add a ruckman (Meesan?), another key forward (Henderson?), another Key defender (Rance) and add some pace to our midfield. With those holes filled, we will have a legitimate tilt at the flag in 2-3 years time, with Rivers, Bate, Mclean, Jones and Sylvia at their peaks. Our time is not next year. this year proved that. Trade Robbo (if he wont accept 2 year deal) and Johnstone for draft picks so that we can get the best talent available to give us a proper tilt at the flag in 2 years time.
  18. if we got a couple of picks for Robbo id do it in a second. he's not our future. we need to start filling the holes in our list- ruckman to replace White, forward to replace Neitz, midfielder with pace, forward pocket. the only way to fill those holes is by getting a few good draft picks. if we have to trade a 29 year old who wont accept a 2-yr deal to achieve this, then so be it! be ruthless bailey. we support the jumper, not the player. selfish players who want 3 yr deals when they are old with bunged knees can get farked.
  19. i still reckon we should try to trade Travis. it just really [censored] me off that he has so under performed for us over the last 8 years. its disgusting. he has let the club down. he still has trade value at this stage of his career due to his ability to win a match off his own boot. fantastic player when on song (which is ussualy about 6 times a years tbo) if we trade him for pick 9-15 id be stoked. we'd have 2 top draft picks and be able to set up our list for years to come. atm, we still have major holes in our list. 1) we need a ruckman to replace White - we'll get Meeson for cheap which is awesome could potentially become a number1 ruck. however, will still need to draft another one in case he doesnt come on as hoped. 2) another key forward to support Newton and Bate post Neitz. - we could pick up Henderson at pick 4. another top10 picks would be great, but we defintely need to try and draft a key forward. 3) another key back to support Rivers, Frawley and Carool- prefereably a 195cm backman who can handly the big boys - we could pick up Rance at pick 4. unfortunately we only have 1 high draft pick, so we're going to have to prioritize. that's why a 2nd high draft pick would be invaluable 4) we need a pacy/skillful midfield to complement the tough inside midfielders we have (Jones, Mclean, Sylvia, Moloney) - we could pick up Ebert/Palmer/Morton with pick 4. that would do our midfield the world of good. 5) we need another small forward to help Davey - Cyril Rioli is our man if we can get a pick around pick 10! would be an awesome get if possible. we have too many holes, and not enough high draft picks to fill those holes. TJ is 27 and underperforming. traading him for a high draft pick would go a long way to filling some of those holes. TJ is not integral to our future.
  20. we will be fine without Robbo. he is 29 and will be gone in 2 years anyways. he isnt our future and has deteriorating knees. even if Neitz misses games we have players who can kick goals. Newton, Bate, Davey and Yze are genuine goal-kicking forwards. i think next year we should play green as a forward more, and also Bruce. Dunn can also play forward. we have options, though another key forward to help replace Neitz is necessary. if we trade for another top10 pick, we could pick up a Henderson type which will leave us in good stead up forward post Neitz.
  21. i will boo chris Judd next season. if he chooses Carlton then he is a [censored] lyer, bc Carlton have worse facilities than us at optus oval. they are getting upgraded in 2 years, but so are ours!!! if he chooses Collingwood then he is a farkin sellout mercinary. pathetic Judd. uv achieved everything in footy. u had a chance to come to MFC as its saviour and win us our 1st premiership in 43 years! will hate to see him in black and white especially. bloody filth
  22. You misunderstood me. when he was drafted orignially he was drafted in the PSD (i.e. he wasnt picked up in the national, and geelong picks him up as a youngster in the PSD). We got Moloney in a 3 way trade: Scott Thompson to Adelaide, pick 12 to Geelong, Moloney to MFC. We got [censored] ripped off. Thompson is now a star at adelaide, and moloney has OP
  23. Moloney was a preseason draft pick... but ur point still holds true. pick 4 guerentees nothing. espeically in this draft, pick 1-3 are certain (Morton,Cotchin and Kruiser) while there are about 5 players who are good enough for pick 4. Johnstone has had only 1 top10 in bestnfairest in 9 seasons. that is so farkin pathetic for a player of his talent. If we get the best player in the afl for a talented but inconsistent midfielder and a pick that guerentees nothing we would be laughing!
  24. Johnstone to Sydney for pick 11 and Jolly= massive victory to MFC. Jolly alone would be worth a 1st round pick (we traded him for pick14, and since then he is a premiership ruckman). so basically its 2 decent first round picks for johnstone... would sydney really do that? i dont think so...
  25. we passed on Nick DalSanto who was extremely highly rated midfielder and somehow slipped past pick 9... but we needed a CHF so we went for what we needed instead of best available... lessons are learnt the hard way
