he's a big strong key defender. is young and talented and from what ive seen is pretty bloody good when he can actually get his body right. he would be an awesome fit into our team because he has the ability to take the monster forward thus releasing rivers and carrol to actually play on forwards their own size.
-
so basically you think Collingwood in the best fit for Judd, with the fact that he supported us as a kid outweighing most factors. lets hope for our sake Judd is sentimental then. somehow i think that after playing 6 seasons of afl u stop supporting ur old team...but we can still hope! imo our best chance of securing Judd is if, like u suggest, if comes down to Collingwood or Melbourne, and we have more to offer WCE in terms of trades and draft picks.
-
u idiot. just looks at Pendlebury's stats. He has huge impact on games has oustanding skills which are damaging, can kick goals and is ultra athletic. pendlebury>Jones and i am as biased a demons supporter as there is.

What good will Judd do to our spineless team?

and btw, we will probably go for a midfielder with pick 4. which ever midfielder we go for, Ebert, MAsten or Palmer, you can be 99% sure they will be half the player Judd is...that is why Judd is our man! our key position stocks are not that bad. i have faith in Rivers, Frawley, Bate, Newton, Garland, Dun etcetcetc -
The top 10-12 players in this draft are as strong as any in previous seasons. it is past pick 20 that it becomes a little shalow and more of guesswork
-
Question- what would people think about trading pick 4 for Jed Adcock who looks like quiting Brisbane to return to Victoria. He is 21 years old, and was desperately unlucky to miss out on All Australian. He is a dashing half back flanker with massive pace and a great kick. After this breakthrough season in 2007, he is basically fully developed and ready to play a huge role for his club. If we go for a midfielder with pick 4, we will probably go for Ebert, Palmer or Masten. These guyz are highly rated, but are not standouts in the same way hodge or Judd were before they were drafted. These guyz could become great, or could just end up solid players. Jed is extremely young, and you know you are getting a fantastic player of the future. With the retirement and delisting or Brown and Ward, we are looking for a dashing half back flnkaer with skills. Is Jed exactly what we need? If we dont get Judd, he should be our man to go after!

Key forwards for the future: Bate- honestly he showed this year that he could become a star CHF. has sticky hands, a powerful kick a good goal sense and good footy brain. people who say he is too short are just stupid. he is 191cm! Pavlich is 190cm, Carey was 190cm, Carrol is 188cm, Glass in 192cm, Neitz is 192cm, Campbell Brown 177cm...firstly guyz, we are talking about 1-3 cm here. it really isnt that much. secondly, guyz like Campbell Brown and Pavlich have proven that ability is the most important thing. Bate has bucket loads of it, and could easily become a star CHF Newton- a future FF. we wont see his best for 2 years probably, but showed that he can be a key forward for the future. he a good mark, a good kick for goal and is clever. He is able to do freak things. Dunn- not sure where he'll end up. tall midfielder, mobile-key forward? who knows, but we shouldnt discount his becoming a mobile type 3rd tall forward or mobile CHF. i like the kid. NOTE: We still have Neitz and Robbo who are forwards who will kick 40-50 goals a year. P.Johnson could maybe be a wildcard here but i doubt it. Key defenders for the future: Rivers: future AllAustralia CHB. give him a preseason and he will star. Frawley: hopefully our future fullback. has loads of promise and ability. is VERY raw, but which fullbacks aren't at 18yrs old? has all the attributes to be a great key defender. He has pace, a strong mark, is tall and agile with quite good decision making ability. Garland: this kid could not be more raw, but from what id seen/heard from the reports at Sandringham is that he could be a real player for the future. could become a key back given 2 yrs of developing. Carrol- is steady as Fullback. is no star, but rarely gets thrashed, and in 2006 was one of the best backman in the afl. he has ability. i dont mind him but would prefer him to be 3rd tall back. Warnock: i dont think this kid will make it, but who knows only time will tell. I think you'll find that our key posts aren't as bad as you might think at first glance... -
let's look at the facts: He wants to play for either Melbourne, Collingwood, Carlton or Essendon He wants to play for a team that plays regularly at the MCG: that's either Collingwood or Melbourne He wants to play for a team that will be successful in the near future: again, that's either Collingwood or Melbourne- i dont care what people say, WE have a future, the bombers do not and carlton are a looonnngg way away from on field success. He has has a soft spot for: The demons, because he loved them growing up and wore number 3 demons jumper as a junior! West Coast will want to trade with a team with high draft picks- That's eiter Carlton or Melbourne- Collingwood have NOTHING to trade for Judd (their pick is pick 14ish). Which club is the common denominator in every one of these important categories! The demons!! Watch us snare Judd- the best player in the afl! pick 4+ pick 10 to WCE (pick 10 from Adelaide for Davey) JUDDDDDD to melbourne. What a way to have a fresh start in 2008 New coach, out with the old dead wood, and in with the best player in the afl
-
other than Judd i can't see any reason y we'd trade this pick... however if we are offered something outstanding from a club trying to secure Judd (Collingwood) then we should atleast look at the offer. i wouldnt mind Pick 4 + Matt Maguire for pick 8+26

If Chris doesn't name us as his prefered destination
sylvinator replied to w00dy's topic in Melbourne Demons
that is correct. there will be one or two teams who will gain significantly from attaching themselves to the Judd deal even if Judd doesnt end up coming to them (it is likely to be a 3 or 4 way trade.) if we aren't going to get Judd, then we should be clever and try to gain from the deal anyway. pick 4 will be valuable for any club trying to get Judd! also, pick 4 is extremely valuable to Port Adelaide and Adelaide (who has pick 10 atm). Both would love to pick up Brad Ebert at pick4, and if we are clever, we could use the fact there is such high demand for that pick and jack up the price for it...its basic economics! -
i agree...unless he nominates MFC as his club of choice we wont be getting him. if he does nominate us, i am confident a deal will be struck, and we can be sure that it will be heavily in our favour because WCE will be forced to deal with us and would be scared that if they dont Judd will go into the PSD. Any of these trades would be a HUGE win for the demons: pick 4 + pick 5-10 (gotten via a trade with another club- Davey to Adelaide? Johnstone to Stkilda? Robbo to Bulldogs? Green or Bruce traded) Pick 4 + Johnstone/Davey/Green/Bruce/Sylvia (1 of these) since these are pretty heavily in our favour, we will probably have to swap 2nd round picks (i.e. downgrade from 21 to 29ish) but that's no big deal... once again, its pretty much all going to come down to who Judd nominates. i hope to god its us and i will be eagerly waiting the announcement
-
if the bombers offer Gumbleton, Ryder and pick 6 then we are screwed... that would be awesome trade for the WCE. however i doubt essendon would do this as it would seriously screw up their future for 2 years time once Fletcher, Lloyd, Mal Michael and Lucas are all going to retire
-
Question for everyone... if we managed to somehow strike a deal with the bulldogs and landed pick 5 (or alternatively got pick6-10 by dealing with a different club)... we would have to give up 2 top10 picks for judd...it seems reasonable, but would people 100% be willing to give away picks 4 and 5 for 1 player? pick 4 and 5 could land us Henderson AND Rance setting up our key posts for the next decade. alternatively we could get Ebert and Palmer setting up our midfield! i know that none of these players will be as good as Judd, but when u lose 2 players its something to think about ?
-
sounds like [censored] to me...but all stress and worry can be removed with the answer of one simple question... is he contracted for 2008?
-
i cannot believe Yze Magic is so adament about Ken McGregor and Farren Ray. these 2 players are probably the last players id ever want on our list. they are exactly what we DONT want on our list making a fresh start in 2008 with a new coach. McGregor 26 yrs old!!! mediocre bits n pieces key position player. would be useful to plug holes down back and can go forward...pretty much a replica of Ben Holland, another one of our average key position players. we need to look at young (25 and younger) players who have real talent. McGregor= mediocrity!!! Farren Ray is pure and simple a mediocre outside soft midfielder. he was a high draft pick who has shown much less than sylvia (and that's saying something). Ray=mediocrity!!! the players we should go for in the trading period 1) Chris Judd 2) Cameron Wood 3) Matt Maguire There are 3 categories that must be ticked if we are going to trade for a player. 1) they are under 25 years old. otherwise they will be past their peak by the time we are challenging for a flag in 2-3 years 2) they are quality people and quality players 3) will fit straight into our starting 18 next year and add something to our side (i.e. dont trade for the sake of trading)! McGregor and Ray do NOT fulfil this critera and should not be considered. i wouldnt have either of those players even making MFC's starting 18 round 1 2008.

ur 2rd trade would be considered an insult to Brisbane. Wood in a young, promising ruckman who won a rising star nomination this year. ruckman (ala Jolly for pick14) have extremely high currency.Brad Miller is most likely going to get delisted in MFC cant trade him. Miller is worth maybe a 3rd or 4th round selection. Wood in worth a 1st round pick. get serious before suggesting trades. the other trades seem reasonable... but the truth is that we wont be making more than 1 or 2 trades. last trade period only 9 players moved clubs! trade period is fun to speculate but it is ALWAYS much more uneventful than anticipated.
-
I for one am hoping we go hard for him. It's about time MFC had a player who was dominant in the AFL. The only concern I would have is that if we are paying him 1.1 million a year. Will that mean we wont be able to get enough quality players around Judd?

Sydney could be an ideal trading partner
sylvinator replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ryan Murphey had an very impressive 2006 season. this season he plays well at wafl level but found it hard to make the seniors because tarrant basically took his position. freo have tarrant and pavlich as 2 big forwards so he could be a good pick up -

i read this on bigfooty i think i struck a liking to it... Pick 4 + maybe a sweetener like Miller/Jamar/pick37 to Freo Pick 7 + Ryan Murphy to MFC. we down grade out pick 3 spots, which will still leave us one of Rance, Henderson, McEvoy or Masten to choose from. and we gain Ryan Murphey, a true key forward we deperately need... Freo upgrade their pick to number 4, which will allow them to snap up Palmer or Masten (whoever they rate higher), both extremely highly rated Western Australians who will both almost definitely be gone by pick 7. this kind of astute trading is what we need. go dees -
i how i wish we could...why couldnt we have drafted a reiwold, franklin or Judd... MFC have not drafted a player who has been in the top 10 players in the afl since the draft started...
-
but you might note that this trade includes Judd AND Staker. Staker by himself would be worth a top 10 pick...otherall it balances out. gotta give quality to get quality.
-
I know this has been done to death but new rumours of Chris Judd leaving WCE has surfaced. with trade period only 3 weeks away, it is highly topical again. it seems Judd is not that happy at WCE (and with their gangster, druggy culture who could blame him tbo) and would not rule out coming back to melbourne to play footy. Now let's make a huuugggeee assumption. trade week has just started and Judd nominated the demons as his prefered club to play for (ala Akermanis and bulldogs). it is now up to WestCoast and demons to make a deal that is reasonable and fair to both sides... Who would you be willing to trade for Judd? NOTE: Judd is in the top 3 players in the afl. we have not had a player in the top 20 players in the afl for about 10 years!!! he is a genuine superstar and you have to give up quality to get quality!!! My possible trade: 1) Johnstone and pick 4 to WCE (quality midfield replacement and top draft pick) Judd and pick 40something to MFC 2) Pick 4, Sylvia and Davey to WCE (high pick, and 2 young quality upncomers) Judd and pick 40ish to MFC 3) pick 4, pick 21 and Mclean to WCE (2 good draft picks and Mclean a gun youngster) Judd and Staker to Melbourne to MFC I know I am a one eyed demon supporter, but are these fair trades?i reckon all of mine of probably well in favour of us, but keep in mind that if Judd nominates us then WestCoast are a little bit stuck in that they have to bargain with us or risk losing him in the PSD... oh how id love to see Judd at melbourne. finally we would have a player whos actually in the top 2 players in the league. What would people give up for him?
-
that would be awesome from our point of view...not sure if bullies or port would agree. i think it would extremely clever of melb to use the fact that Port want pick 4 badly to our advantage. In this draft, from pick 3-8 are all potentially as good as eachother. Rance, Henderson, Palmer, Morton, Ebert, McEvoy, Masten...it is anyones guess who will be the best out of this awesome bunch. if we have pick 7 or 8 instead of 4 we could still pick up the best one... btw, i really rate Salopek and would love to get him
-
i reckon if MFC were clever, they would use the fact that Adelaide and Port Adelaide are desperate to gain pick 4 so they can pick up Ebert. because the demand for pick 4 is very high, MFC could get something really awesome for it. What if we gave away pick 4- in return gained pick 8-10 plus a highly rated youngster...thatd be great.

how many 3 year deals that [censored] up in our faces do we want to give out for aging players before we learn our lesson. Yze- disaster. since he was given the rediculously generous deal his last 2 seasons have been aweful and he's still contracted. if he was given a 2 year deal, we could have given him a 1 year deal this year at a much lower value which reflects his worth to the team. he isnt even in our best 22 and probably earns 400K this year because most 3 year deals are largest in the 3rd year if they can be a veteran. Bizzel- disaster. was earning way above his worth in 2007. was not in our best 22 and earned big bucks Bruce- disaster. signed earlier this year and was given a deal that was way too generous. since then his form has dropped and his skills are atrocious. now we have to hang on to him for 3 years and can't even offer him up for trade. a 2 year deal would have been much more appropriote. Robbo- IS 29 YEARS OLD. he has shonky knees. sure he is a great player and i love him. but in 2 years time his knees could have given way. if this is the case he will lose some spring which is vital for him. it is simply the biggest risk ever to give him 3 years considering his age and his knees. what do we owe robbo that he deserves 3 years. has he won us a premiership? is he our most promising 21 year old? No and NO. he should be given a respectable 2 year deal and if he's still playing well at 31 then give him another deal. y risk 3 year deal if he might break down after 2? giving robbo a 3-year deal simply makes no sense. if he wants a 3 yr deal and the bullies will offer it to him, then fair enough thats his perogative. hopefully we can get Ray and a 3rd rounder. if hes willing to take a 2 year deal id love to have him at the club next year. otherwize adios
