Coming off his best game of the year, kicking 3.1 on Darcy Moore, JVR had 68% game time last night and 19 ruck contests. That’s ridiculous. Are we trying to turn this guy into our best forward or not? Hardly giving him a chance to succeed as a forward with those numbers. In the ruck far too much

Not sure if it’s been covered already but May clearly looks hampered by his rib injury still, saw him grimace twice with contact yesterday, he was also battling a groin issue at the start of the year which I’m sure would still be lingering

4 ruck contests yesterday, one centre bounce, compared to his last game where he had 14 ruck contests and 6 centre bounces

No coincidence that JVR played his best game of the year WITHOUT being in the ruck. He is good at it, but he looked so much better just settled in the one position and not burning tickets playing through there. Surely we want him focusing on being the best forward he can through the week at training and not having to worry about ruck craft too?

And why the WA clubs tried to trade up and get him

What about turning Sparrow into a tagger / defensive mid? Does nothing else and has probably hit his ceiling already

How could you trust the club to bring him in at the right time anyway? Tholstrup was clearly not ready, lost count the amount of times they’ve brought players straight back into the 1’s after a long injury for zero impact, Spargo’s selection was baffling in Round 0, and they’re playing Petty and Mcadam who are clearly unfit and needed more time at Casey. Selection’s all over the shop

Blake Howes has really little impact doesn’t he. Cheap uncontested possessions off half back, takes kick outs, poor disposal, could be a decent role player one day but that’s probably it. Played his best footy on a wing in his first year tbh

You also said Jack Billing’s was playing well, Josh schace was having a terrific summer, and that Ben brown would be our main forward target this year 😂
