Correct, the whole we were offered two first rounders for Petty thing is fantasy, Kane Cornes loves it but he’s wrong. The offer was pretty close to what you described, Mcadam and 14 or something like that,l. Take a look at the players taken around that mark in the draft in 2023 and we did not miss out on much! Weak year, that pick 14 would’ve blown out as well

Making assumptions here. I was at training on Monday and Petty is fine, did all the drills except for the contact ones naturally, looked really good and jovial, has over 6 weeks until round one

Lol, we are not playing four key defenders… Have a look at the front page of today’s Hearld Sun, May will not be a priority this year. It’s basically a rebuild we’re doing, why would we field two 33 year olds AND Lever and Turner when opposition teams only have two or three key forwards? Smalls will tear us apart if we field that. Wouldn’t even surprise me if they prioritise Adams over those May and Mcdonald, not based on form, but setting us up for the future which is what this year will be all about

We’re not playing Petty May Lever and Turner in the same side so who of those other three fall out for May? The guy we told to find a new home three months ago

Still don’t like the mix of Turner and Lever in the same side, I’d have Disco ahead of him playing the 3rd tall/ intercept role. If that’s the way it goes, we’ll have Petty playing on the best forward every week.

Everything you’ve listed is fine but you want more than that out of a first rounder, particularly in a rebuild, pick 13 is not a role player

This is the big miss in hindsight, but we were never going to take him considering we’d used two first rounders in two years on key forwards, so it’s understandable

Feels like the trade up itself was the biggest mistake. I always felt like we were either hoping to get Windsor with that pick 13 or we were trying to package it up in part of a deal with WCE Harley Reid.

If you take a look at the 2023 draft, there’s literally four players I’d take after Tholstrup’s pick, not including academy or father sons, it’s an incredibly weak looking year so far.
