  1. Judging by Hawthorn's back six, Jurrah will kick 9......... that's if Hawthorn's midfield allows us to get the ball in our forward 50 9 times.... For the record, my preferred back 6 is Warnock, Frawley, Garland McDonald, Rivers, Grimes With Bennell to rotate through from the bench, freeing up Grimes for stints in the midfield.
  2. Thanks for the post demonland...... particularly pertinent for me was the mention of Ross Dillon, as it is after him that I was named, by my mother who thought he was "dreamy" Cheers
  3. Most open year I can remember. In my humble opinion there are 7 sides with legitimate flag claims This is my prediction for how the cards will fall Geelong Western Bulldogs Hawthorn Collingwood Brisbane St Kilda Adelaide West Coast Sydney Carlton Melbourne (8 wins) Essendon Port Adelaide Nth Melbourne Fremantle Richmond
  4. Hi guys, I'm a rookie to forum footy.. Would friggin love to play but will be heading off on my honeymoon that day (unless I want to beat Britney Spears record for shortest marriage ever!). Definately would be keen in the future though. My brother is also a mad demon, and Demonland member, he is also very handy at editing videos into quality highlights packages. I'll mention the game to him and he may be interested in playing or doing video or both. Good luck lads, I can't think of many things more important in life than bragging rights over Collingwood supporters. Do it for Nathan Jones' old man. Give em hell Rosso
  5. Like other posters I see Cale as a Goodes type utility, having the ability to go in the middle but also dominate on the wing. The other position I think he would dominate in is opening bowler for Bulleen's 3rd XI
  6. What concerns me about young Cale, is his lithe frame. He is entering his 3rd pre-season and according to Melbournefc.com.au he is 192cm but tips the scales at a mere 83 kgs. To put that in perspective Luke Tapscott, doing his first pre-season is 12cm shorter (180cm) and weighs 4kgs more (87kgs). Now granted Luke Tapscott is a man child, but then consider that Jack Trengove weighs 2kgs more than Cale, yet is 7cm shorter. Cale has a massive engine, as evidence by him winning the time trial at the club the other day, but unless you are freakishly talented like LJ, you need muscle to become a dominant player in key position roles. I think the time has come for someone to introduce Cale to Protein Powder. I would love to see him with a body more in the mould of "Chip" Frawley or Matty Bate who are about the same height at Cale (193cm and 192cm) but tip them at 91kg and 90kg respectively.
  7. Deano you are spending far too much energy defending the score of 59.... unless you have other reasons. Did you score 59?
  8. KB annoys the hells out of me... Never wrong on anything, and infuriating to listen to. He has a knack of not understanding simple arguments that are being made to him and then blindly repeating his own inane argument over and over. FRIGGIN annoying old fart. My favourite moment listening to his show, was when KB was going off about how Gary Ablett Snr should be voted in to the hall of fame, because time heals old wounds, referring to Ablett's involvement in the death of Alysia Horan (I think that was her name) and saying it should not affect his selection in hall of fame, because time had passed. People were ringing in and arguing that unless Ablett publicly apologised or displayed remorse for being involved in the illicit drug scene and his presence in Horan's room when she overdosed, that he shouldn't be selected. KB kept going on and on and on about time healing these wounds and people don't have to apologise. Anyway some genius rang in and asked why if time heals wounds had KB not been involved with the Richmond footy club since they sacked him in the early 90s.... KB was speechless it was GOLD....
  9. Thanks man, that would be awesome! The other idea I've been toying with is including his skin name on a banner. Liam's skin name is Jungarrayi, I'm sure he would get a real kick out of seeing Jungarrayi on a banner. For those interested: Warlpiri culture divides people into different social groups, which are known as ‘skin groups’, each group has a known set of relationships that determine responsibilities and obligations to the other groups. Skin relationships and responsibilities keep Warlpiri people and country running smoothly. (For those who want to read more, a very thorough explanation of the Warlpiri skin name system is contained in section 3.1 of: http://www.desertknowledgecrc.com.au/publi...gurra-kurlu.pdf
  10. Did anyone else notice that Noah (Trengove) is already as big as Bartram in terms of muscle mass, I know it is stating the obvious but damn he is an exciting proposition, and as for Tappy that boy (man/beast) is already bigger than most of our senior players. His body shape reminds me very much of Mark Ricciuto/Paul Chapman From the others, Syvia looks in great nick, as does Jonesy...
  11. Hello all, I have been thinking of making a banner to hold up at games whenever the Warlpiri Wizard astounds us. The school I attended (Mt Evelyn Christian School) has a community partnership with Yuendumu. Through this partnership we had the opportunity to spend a few days in Yuendumu on a school camp in Year 10. We also spent 6 months learning the Warlpiri language. I don't remember a whole lot of warlpiri, but one word that has stuck in my mind, is the warlpiri word "wara" (pronounced Waa-Raa) The word "wara" translates to "Wow!!" My proposal therefore is for a banner saying "Wara Jurrah!" I thought he might get a kick out of seeing a banner written in Warlpiri. However, I have neither the skill nor resources to produce such a banner, hence I am wondering whether there is anyone involved in the cheer squad that likes the idea enough to run with it....
  12. Sorry to be a pedantic pain in the arse, but Sam Mitchell was not rookie listed. He was picked #36 in the 2001 draft. Interestingly pick #36 and #1 (Luke Hodge) were sent to Hawthorn, from Freemantle in exchange for Trent Croad and Luke McPharlin.... Hawthorn are still laughing about this one However, to support your point that the rookie draft yields some very good players that the 16 clubs ignored in the national draft, here's a few others Mal Michael James McDonald Brett Kirk Tadgh Kennelly Darren Jolly Max Rooke Aaron Sandilands Ben Rutten Brad Sewell Nick Maxwell Mark Nicoski Jason Porplyzia Danyle Pearce Dale Morris Matthew Warnock Matt Priddis Austin Wonaeamirri
  13. 1 Scully 2 Trengove 11 Ball 18 Moore 34 Patrick 50 Thorpe PSD Joel MacDonald
  14. I'm on a 6:15 flight back from Sydney on Thursday night.... fortunately flying Virgin Blue, and for $4.95 you can watch foxtel all the way back to Melbourne......It could be an interesting flight for those seated close to me... especially when I light up a big fat cigar after we've drafter Scully and Trengove.
  15. Andrew Moore is a player that seems to have gone under everyone's radar. Kevin Sheahan gave him a super wrap in today's sun under the Crows draft needs column, saying he was a lovely kick and has good hands. He is the brother of Kelvin from Richmond, and I happen to know that prior to Kelvie joining RIchmond, the family were mad Demon fans. I would love to see him picked up at 18
  16. What about Peter Vardy....41 games 56 goals. not bad, but having said that Jurrah's 9 games have his 41 covered already.
  17. Biased ... pffft.... When was the last time Liam Jurrah kicked 100 goals in a season, Jack Watts won the rising star, Jack Grimes won the brownlow and we won the wooden spoon?
  18. Sportsbet have posted their odds for next year and have the Dees as $4.50 favourite for wooden spoon.. which I think is a disgrace. We could easily have avoided winning the spoon this year, and will be a much stronger outfit next. For the record WOODEN SPOON 2010 Melbourne $4.50 Richmond $5 North Melb $5 Freo $8 Sydney$10 Port Adel $10 I'm going to load up on Richmond, North and Freo.
  19. $ 130 a week.... bloody hell, centrelink pays better than that!
  20. I was just chatting with Col Sylvia on facebook, he's off to the cup tomorrow, no prizes for guessing who he'll be backing ! He also said he is driving to the races, to make sure he is set to go on Monday (start of his pre-season), and that he had his skinfolds done today, the body is 100% and he's ready to back up with a HUUGE year!> I'm excited>
  21. I like the look of Andrew Moore, and I happen to know that his family are long time Dees fans (at least they were until Kelvin was drafted by Richmond) Burgan rates him as going between 8-20. I reckon drafting him at #18 is a winner.
  22. Take a huuuuuge breath because no doubt you will be hearing it a lot in the future. He may as well change his name by depol to Trengrove to spare the frustration.
  23. The new stadiums deal (MCG and Etihad) will reportedly add $1 million to our bottom line next year. That should help.
  24. Adam White's twitter reports that Ball has officially requested to be traded to Collingwood. http://twitter.com/Whitey927 also reports that Hawthorn is cooling on Shaun Burgoyne.
