Daisy Pearce calls time on a stellar career
I grew up invested in the Dees (third gen) but slowly lost interest in the AFL as it became apparent I wasn't truly welcome. Time passed and I found my way back to the game as the AFLW gained more prominence. Despite that, I probably watch more AFLM. One thing that continues to bug me is the inequality of attention between the AFLM and the AFLW. They both are riveting, if you watch. However, a lot of people seem to perceive AFLM as the only legitimate expression of the sport, which is quite frustrating (even if it is their loss).

- Our interesting mix of talls for 2023
I'm reading Max Gawn's Captain's Diary book again and he brings up an observation from Daisy Pearce about the impact of BBB (stats from the middle of the 2021 finals). At that point in time, BBB had played 12 games and Kozzy and Spargs had both played 24 games. Their output in the 12 games where BBB was there was a combined 35 goals, and the output without BBB was a combined 22 goals. Pretty significant impact! Of course, TMac was present in those games as opposed to our 2022 season, in which Ben's role changed and the extra physicality without TMac cooked Ben's knees... It'll be interesting to see how BBB goes this season, with the greater diversity of talls.- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
I echo Kev's comments. Jefferson and JVR seemed quite confident out there, although JVR presented more and has a greater impact. Saw Kyah Farris-White looking a little lost a few times during the match sim but otherwise quite fit. He needs longer to work on his footy IQ but it should come with time.- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Thanks for compiling my posts, @Demonland !- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Some final observations of the match sim (unfortunately I had to leave): Harmes weaving before kicking a low goal. Spargo fairly active and involved. Lingers did a short chip to Spargs who moved into the space. Ed later positioned himself down the line nicely as usual Tomlinson fumbled and course corrected with kick to Chandler. Chandler dropped but had a good second effort back. However reds put the pressure on and Kossie in particular was strong with tackle and attempted smother Jed and Verrell running laps, Burgoyne and someone else doing short runs on the other side.- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Viney scooped up a ground ball, broke out of a tackle and ran into space before beautiful kick forward- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Splitting up into different groups again, match sim done. One group set up for the handball game drill - if there is a turnover then the group opens up and practises a long kick goalwards (with Harmes marking)- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Kossie caught a nice short chip in from the side then kicked off - doubled back and intercepted once it was turned over. Looking dynamic in the pack- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
Burgoyne now joining the agility training and Harmes off to the main group- TRAINING: Wednesday 11th January 2023
COMPILATION OF ALL OF DEELIGHTFULLPLAY'S POSTS FROM TRAINING Had a few drill stations going when I arrived late. Good to see some of the seniors, like Melky, providing guidance to the new boys like Kyah. Burgoyne has joined in some of the drills and might be off rehab. Awesome, I just got into Melbourne today! Will have to make the trip tomorrow- So I have a video
Anybody keen to divulge the secrets of the video for those of us who spent a weekend largely without a functional internet connection? 😬- Farewell Brodie Grundy
Agreed, the end is nigh! He seems like a thoughtful and team oriented person. Even better, he's often informally training with some of the other boys which bodes well for cohesion. In that first week he understandably seemed sad to leave the Filth after 10 years and a bit uncertain about us, but now he seems very comfortable with us!- Training and Trackwatching

Does anybody know if his girlfriend is from Melbourne and will hopefully stay here? Might mean Kozzie has one more reason not to leave us!- Training and Trackwatching
