  1. I'm sure we'll be able to turn our F1 into a 1st rounder this year, there'll be quite a few on offer from teams with Academy, F/S or a glut of early 2024 picks. Clubs will fancy a Dee deathride in 2025.
  2. Further "slipping" is BS though because the F/S and Academy players that make that happen aren't freely available to us anyway so our position in the open draft remains the same. Yes the FA compensation for Battle, Perryman and Cumming did legitimately push the pick back 3 spots.
  3. Agree, that's the reason Petracca's not there next year right there.
  4. They've got 23, 41 and 49 so probably.
  5. Yes, even 13 + 29 for F1 and Noble would be a good deal for Collingwood. Did a quick calculation - those 3 picks buy pick 5 with the 20% discount so yes ...
  6. They want GC's 1st 13. They'll have to include their F1 to get it. They likely offer something like F1 + Noble for 13 + 29 Whether GC bites is another question, they have a lot of options for 13.
  7. What's your thinking on O'Sullivan? I know nothing about it but he sounds good from the reports.
  8. It's a bit like if we lost Salem, Rivers, Sparrow and Tomlinson last year and Disco requested a trade.
  9. Perryman and Cumming both play medium back for GWS, Derksen can play tall back, Haynes definitely plays tall back. Losing all four gives them less flexibility and options to shuffle back there.
  10. Groucho Oliver?
  11. I watched the Smith highlights, someone compared him to Zach Merrett and that's who I saw too.
  12. That Deemania, they write in the language and style of a 19th century novelist
  13. I don't think it's posturing. GWS has lost the battle (pun intended) on all of Perryman, Cumming and Peatling, and had already given up on Haynes. They're in the window, that’s a lot of support talent to lose in one year and they don't appear to have gained anyone. I suspect they genuinely want to hold Derksen.
  14. Cheers, enjoy your posting. AFAIK there's no more big budget FAs left to deliver significant picks.
  15. I said that - you know, the part where it reads "pushed it back ..." Who are these "more FAs" who are going to command Band 1 or 2 compo and push it back further?
  16. The FA compensation picks have pushed it back but it doesn't really matter how much further back the Academy and F/S selections push it because those plyers aren't really available anyway. It will still be 28th pick in the available draft.
  17. I have no idea about U18 talent, but I wonder if we rate Alex Dodson. This is the perfect time to draft a ruckman with Max signed on for 3 more years. I like Will Verrall but I think he is going to struggle to make it as #1 ruck at 199cm. He could be a forward-ruck or KPB option. It's going to take at least a year, probably two, before a drafted ruckman is ready for AFL. Few ruckmen successfully carry the #1 mantle in their first two seasons. By season three in 2027 the transition from Max will be in full swing, a draftee this year will turn 21 then. It's too late doing it in the 2026 draft. Some discussion in this article: Top picks on table, Crows moves keep coming, Combine watch It's risky to rely on picking up a ready-to-go mature ager at the end of Max's contract - if that was this year who are the options - Ivan Soldo? No thanks. If we do like Dodson and draft him we can always fall back on the mature ager strategy if he doesn't come on as hoped.
  18. Richmond are a very important player too. They may have 1, 6, 10, 14 and 18 after Rioli, Bolton and Baker are traded. They will want to move at least one into next year. They also have a lot of later round picks that they could bundle to GC or Brisbane for draft points so could increase their bounty even further. https://www.zerohanger.com/afl/afl-draft-order-2024/
  19. Give it a rest. Kade Chandler has shown year on year improvement and from all reports is a great person and team-mate. He plays the most difficult role in footy, it's good to celebrate his achievement. It's you who is showing obsession.
  20. This is the biggest downside of Clarrie staying!
  21. Agree. Either Pert or Oliver has to go.
  22. Simon Goodwin likes this for 2026.
  23. The trade value Geelong gives and the amount of salary cap they pay are inversely proportional. Decent draft pick and we pick up substantial salary Later draft pick and they pay all the salary I'd probably rather take a trade value hit than a salary cap hit, but both have long term implications, a good draftee can give 12 years service.
