  1. The further it's gone one the more amazed I'll be if he can learn to mark well enough to pose any sort of forward threat. Given up on him as KPF (and Watts too) - would love to be proven wrong in either case. IMO his only role is KPB in competition with Sellar to take the gorillas/2nd rucks.
  2. Looks like Col didn't get cited for his hit on Tom Young in the marking contest - I'll take the nil-all draw.
  3. Morton was pretty good and gets involved. He made some creative play in heavy traffic and he also made some skill errors. In this instance he broke a team rule, that's more important than the associated skill error.
  4. Nathan "Barry Hall" Brown?
  5. I don't care what they think, I only care what I think. I want hard and fair.
  6. I agree with Jaded, Ben and others that he's being played in a defensive forward role to teach accountability and also because his limited pre-season restricts him in other roles. I don't agree with Jaded that he doesn't have attributes that Neeld values. He's an impact player that can make a difference with limited possessions, he has a solid body type and when fit he's very competitive in the air for his size, if these attributes can be harnessed then he has got significant value. I'm willing to give him the entire season to get his head around what is required. Because he's coming off a badly interrupted pre-season he may not be able to execute all of his capability this year but the coaching staff will be able to tell if he can do what they require. If he doesn't get actively shopped for trade then I'll trust that they think they can get the best out of him. We've made some big changes - players like Sylvia, Moloney, Davey who've played another way for a long time need to be given sufficient opportnity to adapt. Not all will.
  7. The hit to Fasolo and pushing Maxwell into the bench were not brave acts - I can do without it. The bump on Elliot was good.
  8. No it was marking contest where he went into Tom Young's (?) ribs with his forearm - similar to Tapscott.
  9. Tapscott and Sylvia surely suspended.
  10. Pre-demonland I started at demonology before it was a forum and was just an e-mail list run by now-club-employee Martin Cox when he was about 15yo - good memories. Actually I started in internet footy forums at rsfa in the early 90s - I recognise at least one poster from those days.
  11. 2005 EF not sickening enough? My family taught me to hate Collingwood but that's subsided over the years, I've learned to hate Essadon (sic) all on my own.
  12. Come off it - Darling would've kicked 14 and had sex with Cook's girlfriend at half time.
  13. What would you have done - offered him one year and lost him to FA at the end of the season? Martin's rucking is uninspiring and hos forward work is a disappointment, Gawn has had 2 knee recos and Spencer has just come back from one. There is a risk that Spencer may move on but I prefer that than having him #1 starter in R1 2013.
  14. The question isn't whether the gameplan has evolved, it's whether Neeld intended to evolve it when he saw certain basics performed to a satisfactory level or whether it's evolved because of pressure from supporters and the media.
  15. That's really great news!
  16. http://www.watoday.c...0319-1vfug.html The earliest our mid-first rounder can possibly be is 11 because there's 10 non-finals teams to come before it. Us and the Dogs have exercised 1st round "pick after" compos. GWS has also exercised one of these picks tied to Adelaide's position. I'm tipping Melbourne and the Dogs won't make the 8 and Adelaide will. That gives us pick 13 and if the Crows stumble it'll be 14.
  17. There have been a number of 5 year contracts, GC/GWS/FA have changed the landscape: Selwood, Deledio, Hurley, Reid http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/threat-from-two-new-afl-clubs-and-introduction-of-free-agency-sees-long-term-contracts-back-in-fashion/story-e6frf3e3-1226311229707
  18. The gameplan has evolved and there's two possible explanations: Range Rover: Neeld has a plan. Expansion of the gameplan has always been part of his plan but he wants to see certain basics done right first and then build on those. Hardnut: Neeld is a dud. Well maybe he's not a complete dud, because he read my critique and saw the light.
  19. Is one of the other parts the World Cup bid? Yeah that went well ...
  20. Quarterback or point guard, for all their limitations, are better descriptions than the anachronistic Centre-Half-Back. The reason people use these descriptions is because the traditional AFL positions are woefully inadequate. Listen to Mick Malthouse - he has a whole range of new role descriptions - the sooner these get into the common vernacular and replace quarterback, point-guard and back-pocket the better.
