  1. I think we've got a core down back with Frawley, Grimes, Garland and probably Terlich and McDonald. To add to that we need a line breaking, great kick in defence. We've tried Watts, Dunn and Strauss in that role with mixed success. Good luck to Mitch Clisby, there's a role there for the taking. Strauss is a nice kick but I don't think I ever seen anyone take so long to get set to kick in general play, his hand to foot takes too long for AFL football.
  2. Agree, I'm convinced we have to get an experienced, successful coach and I think we need to stitch someone up so we don't waste a year of list management, therefore Roos, Williams or Eade: - persuade players to stay - attract free agents - decide trade and recruiting strategy, we'll have pick 1 or 2 and 20 and maybe a PP, that's leverage - decide who has no future at the club We can't wait for Clarkson-in-the-bush. Ratten, Knights, Harvey, Laidley etc just don't have the record to survive the pain still to come.
  3. It's a great question. Former premiership coaches and captains would be good candidates: Leigh Matthews, Tom Harley, Cameron Ling, Brett Kirk.
  4. Clarkson, Roos, Eade, Williams, Ratten could be good if they're willing. I'm not convinced that we HAVE to go for an experienced coach. We could go for the best new coach with a proper process this time - Richardson, Burns, Tudor. We've already got Neil Craig and he could be mentor to a new coach a la Thompson-Hird, Williams-Hardwick, Eade-Buckley - yes we tried this but Neeld wasn't the right choice.
  5. David Neitz should be there - record games, record games as captain, record goals. How could Garry Lyon possibly be there ahead of him? Russell Robertson played more games and kicked more goals than G.Lyon.
  6. Hazy and Baghdad Bob tried to tell us ....
  7. Schwab, McLardy and Neeld in a short time. Satyriconhome: "everything going fine"
  8. Like when McLardy said on the club website that there would be no changes and Schwab was sacked the next day?
  9. The fact that Neeld has got a few credits - Clark, Dawes, improved Jones etc, is the only thing that stops me from believing he actually came to the club intent on destroying it.
  10. Neeld lost me in R1 2013. I know he lost many others a long time before that. And there's still a few true believers. I cut him plenty of rope to make us more fit and harden us up defensively and in the long run there would be pay-off. In year one when I saw horrible results I was willing to accept them as part of a plan I couldn't fully understand because I'm not on the inside. But when the horrible losses continued from R1 this year and they clearly weren't part of any internal or external plan and totally unexpected for Neeld, then he was gone. Since then he's been unable to turn it around at all - our few "good" results are at the bottom end of my, and I'm sure his, expected results, the rest of the are way off the left hand end of the chart: -10 goals to GC at home! He's not the only problem, things are never that simple, but he's a big problem.
  11. There's a subtle but important difference between giving Neeld more time and giving the club more time before it sacks him.
  12. You've been drinking Neeld's Kool-Aid. Contested possessions is his KPI v Freo 109-150 v Hawks 118 - 163 That's some new definition of "rather competitive"
  13. better than him cutting your lunch ...
  14. Nathan Jones' dog - President, Joyce Brown - coach and Tom Harley - Director of Football.
  15. I'm tipping Bev back as Vice-Prez in a flash.
  16. There has to be a definitive statement on Neeld's future at today's board meeting, either he's sacked or he's guaranteed until at least the end of the year when a review will be conducted. Anything else would be madness - although it is the MFC - Madness Football Club... As buck points out, I think people should consider the possibility that he's retained.
  17. 0 tackles - how is that possible?
  18. It's quite possible - meltdown here if so.
  19. No, I disagree, change is both important AND urgent.
  20. Yes agree, the coaching plans are indivisible from the bigger FD re-structure. But I do agree with other posters that there's an urgency. What's Neeld's KPI going to be this week? "Most of the selected 22 players turn up with their gear"?
