  1. Agree, Dusty's best chance is at Richmond.
  2. Demetriou has done a terrific job as CEO of the AFL and overall has helped the MFC. Negotiated a series of ever-increasing media deals over the years. Has taken the hard long-term decisions introducing GC and GWS into the competition - yes there is pain now in his time for gain over the long term. More fans, more members and a generally more even competition with close exciting finals series and GFs and a variety of premiership winners from all over Australia. He didn't start the tanking investigation but he wrapped up a messy power-play created by Adrian Anderson and where is he now? AD handled the extremely difficult Essendon saga well overall - and that is not a problem of his making. I'm sure the AFL would re-draft the GC and GWS slightly differently if they had the opportunity of hind-sight, e.g a low end age limit on the free agents they could draft and mini-draft picks must be traded for player, but overall the compensation we received for Scully has left us in a better position IMO. So it's down to the state of the Olympic stadium surface over his reign? It is time for AD to move on IMO but he'll do so with a very successful legacy.
  3. Not sure - but I see Hyundai Ad because I've been searching for a new car.
  4. Recruiting thru the Neeld era was generally very positive - Clark, Dawes and Viney in the 2nd round. The whole Pedersen, Rodan, Byrnes, Gillies angst is overblown.
  5. Umpiring mistake resulting in Freo win - hard to top that really.
  6. Posted elsewhere. Hawks by 18 points - Freo won't be able to lock them down all day and they'll have the momentum for some period(s). They'll need to kick goals though - which I think they will - if they continue to miss from set shots like they have been then they'll lose. I hope Freo win though - Kennett, Dermott, Dipper, Buckenara, Newbold etc - they're easy to hate.
  7. "my mates sisters best friend is the girlfriend" What more do you want?
  8. Yes I've seen that requirement but how does that work in practice? He's had ample time to destroy any documentation and how do the authorities know they've got it all anyway, he's also had ample time to put it somewhere out of their reach and their knowledge. Surprise midnight seizure of computers and filing cabinets is all very well if it's a surprise.
  9. That's what this thread is all about - great stuff! Would take pick 2.
  10. He is a great kick but takes an eternity to get the ball from hand to foot - feel like I'm channeling Clint.
  11. Agreed. Possibly a Roos project though with a tightly defined role.
  12. That list looks light on for pain to me, right now only Frawley and McDonald cause any concern. It's unlikely that important players will get one year and be added to this list. It will be interesting to see if others on that list improve their rating under Roos (if they don't get traded this year).
  13. Compensation is an unnecessary complication IMO - it makes FA a pseudo trade market which has the potential to gum up the works and and creates the unhealthy discussion about whether Sylvia is worth pick 19 or 35 and causes funky things like the Monfries trade to avoid compensation dilution. The salary cap prevents rich clubs poaching weak clubs players. The compensation is salary cap space. Nothing will protect successful clubs poaching unsuccessful clubs players but that is a different story.
  14. I don't think you've grasped the concept of Free Agency. I think the questionable part of AFL FA is granting draft picks for players lost - there's a good case for no compensation IMO.
  15. A good source told me that Richmond cannot trade their 1st round pick without specific board approval - they wrote that in their rules.
  16. It's very good news and I hope we re-sign Sylvia too - if he was UFA at some other club everyone here would be falling over themselves to sign him to MFC - there'd be a 50 page thread
  17. He got the 3 votes in our win against the Dogs this year and the 3 votes in our win against Essendon in 2012 - our only 2 wins against non- expansion teams - maybe not so useless.
  18. via Tiger source - sounds true.
  19. Freo will score around 80 points plus or minus. They won't be able to lock Hawthorn down for the entire 120 minutes. Hawthorn will have the momentum at some stages and have to take their scoring opportunities to win the game, if they don't they'll lose - Hawthorn 9-15 loses, Hawthorn 14-10 wins. FWIW, despite it going against trend I've tipped the Hawks to kick straight - Gunston and Bruest - and win by 3 goals.
  20. The AFL doesn't really care about MFC winning flags, they'd like us to have some chance to do so, but that's not the key issue - they really don't want us to be a s horrible as we have been. They'd be fine with us mid-table and hopeful of better. Look at NMFC, they're on the up on the field. The Saints and Dogs nearly won flags. How many games do you think we'll win next year and where will we finish? I reckon there's a very good chance we'll be in the bottom 4 and a fair chance we'll win less than 5 and be in the bottom 2 - if so there'll be another opportunity to apply for a PP. If not - if we're out of the bottom 4 then it's probably not required.
  21. That's Roos2Simpson - don't you know anything?
