Sydney is clogging up our forward line very well. We're going to need to be intelligent with our disposal to kick goals tonight.

Checked the packaging and it says “pristine Norwegian fjords” on it so think I’m ok.

At home on the tele with a glass of brandy and some fine cheese and smoked salmon. I like to play up the stereotype on occasion :)

We should try to expose his lack of marking ability. He'll get completely outmarked by Gawn and Schache hopefully.

If we lose tonight, I will think that...

…it will still not affect our Round 1 winning streak. -
If he doesn't come on this year, I'd entertain the trade. He has all the tools, but hasn't really taken the next step after promising to be a mini-Petracca in 2021. We should be seeing him perform like the Carlton praccy game regularly. If he can do that, he'll get a boatload of money from us and have no reason to leave as he'll be locked into the side as a starting mid.

Exactly. A bump is a theoretically safe way to diffuse all that kinetic energy. You can't tackle someone while running at full pace in the opposite direction. A bump, executed correctly is sometimes the only option to avoid injurious contact.

Oh absolutely, but there's 4K and then there's 4K. I'll wait till the footy season starts and maybe do a month of the 4K package to see if it's good enough to justify.

Anyone have an opinion on whether the 4K is worth the upgrade yet? I have a 4K TV I'll be using, so I'll surely notice the difference if any. Do you?

I'll deathride the Swans next week, but after that I'm taking it one week at a time.

Bad news stories in the offseason are frustrating because there's really nothing that can be done to put them to bed until the matches start. I just pay them as little attention as I can and try to move on with my life. If and when the season starts and we're losing games, then I'll panic. Until then it's Fugazi.

Pretty good run from halfback and delivery inside 50, all things considered.

Ben Brown's mindset is not an issue. It's Step 2: Get the body right that is the trouble; it's a big step especially with one of the knees he has just never being able to remain ok for long enough.

Just a red and blue helmet, with black where the face would be, and two eyes peering out of the darkness. "GIVE EM HELL"

Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"
Chook replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I personally think this is garbage. The hallmark of the 2021 team was system but with flair. We were still coming into our understanding of the system at the time, so we deviated from it when the time felt right. Bang bang bang wasn't the system, it was "no stuff this we're going to smash them while we have the momentum." I think the dees team is TOO dependent on the system. We need to free ourselves up to play on instinct. Instinct is the fastest way to do anything. Lean into it more and the opposition will not be able to counteract the speed of those instinctual decisions. -
Gawn has to be number 1. Premiership captain trumps everything else.

Bit of an overreaction mate. I'm not interested in players statements in podcasts - that doesn't mean I'm not interested in the club. -
Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"

I remember hearing/reading similar statements before the 2023 season as a response to 2022. Not interested until we show we've learned from it in a final. -
You don't talk up a Melbourne player by saying another team's player sucks.
-
Fell off an absolute cliff and killed us with his softness particularly late in the year and in finals.
-
This man will decide our flag fortunes next year. 25 great games from him and Max and we've got a tremendous chance.
-
I think he's cooked, but will give him the benefit of the doubt one more time as long as he has an uninterrupted pre-season. Very much a continuity and fitness reliant player.
-
Much maligned by me. He really would benefit from improving his disposal. I know he runs a lot and that probably influences how fatigued he is when kicking, but getting the ball is half the battle. Disposing of it is the other half.

Aren't we always saying "less talk, more action"?
