Love to see Turner kick a couple of snags. Which defender will we throw up forward next? McDonald was good for several years and a flag, so he's the club house leader. Petty was more sizzle than sausage, but was good for a novelty. I'd like to see Maysy have a go. He'd probably kill someone though if sent forward.

Never seen Clayton Oliver drop so many footies. It's like watching Caravaggio drop his paintbrush.

Every now and then we'll use Christian Petracca as he should be used and I remember, wow we've got a pretty good player there. One day, I hope we use him again.

Well I'm no expert but usually when I miss kicks it's because of a lack of skill. I'm an amateur though so take the lack of skill as a given.

Looks like a bottom 8 clash right now. I'm seriously worried about this season. I thought we'd fixed a lot of what undid us in 22 and 23 from rounds 1-4 but the last 2 weeks have been a real step backward.

How many 1st rounders for Petty again there Adelaide?

Maxy must have been in rare form in September 2021 because he's tried an on-the-run from outside 50 goal multiple times since that prelim goal vs Geelong and never made the distance let alone been on-line.

They're playing poorly, but I'm not sure we can say they're leading poorly.

OK that Roo, Petracca, Turner chain was something relatively good for a change. Boy we need to do more of that.

What leadership would you give?

Why? We have midfield names that should strike fear. Instead we're constantly on the defensive. I think it's part of the gameplan but it's garbage and will fail in finals again.

Sorry to say, but I think we're really bad. Our midfield is awful - every one of them out of form or injured. We have a good backline but the gameplan is all wrong and overly reliant on a couple of important defenders and the opposition playing into our hands with high balls into the backline. EDIT: Really bad is an overstatement but we're no chance for the flag playing like this.

We're playing dreadful. We'd be 4 goals down again if we were playing Brisbane again.

It's kind of worrying how dependent on our back third of the ground we are. With our midfield we should be starting our offensive thrusts from further up the ground. Viney, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver aren't really pulling their weight in this area. Can't say for sure whether it's all part of the plan but I'm not impressed by it.

Just moving the ball on quickly like the AFL wants.

It's not perfect, but I can already tell Clarry has a bit more of his one-touch pickup off the ground working tonight where he couldn't do that previously.

Hoping for a quality game from Clayton Oliver tonight. He was absolutely dreadful defensively last game, especially in the first quarter. That's fine if he's damaging offensively, but he was just about nonexistent in both facets of the game with that hand injury.

My problem with Derm and other special commentators of a certain type is that they spend the whole game telling you what the players "should have done" or "were trying to do" instead of what's actually happening. They're trying to be coaches when they should be analysts.
