Isn't it funny that at the end of Daniher's reign we all were wondering why he hadn't played Newton more...

So many conflicting reports on this. One fact that seems irrefutable is that he has been offered the 11 and will think it over. I don't know, I'm conflicted... I presumed Gawn would follow Stynes from 37 to 11 and as I write this I am struck by how needlessly sentimental that is... If he wants it he can take it. He ain't a ruckman anymore though...

Scully is gorgeous redhead with a seemingly endless scepticism of the paranormal. That is all.

So we spent Pick 12 and around $700k on a back-up ruck? Keep the investment out of the ruck and kick it down his throat, and watch a forward line with Jurrah facing the goals when the ball hits the deck. He will be dangerous...
-
Jamar and Martin are the second tall in the forward line when not in the ruck. They never go to the bench and Clark is the main forward that the forward line revolves around. I think it will work...after a fashion...and Steph should be given a few games where he dominates the time in the ruck. From what Neeld has said - he sees Clark as a forward, Clark sees himself as a forward, and I don't see it affecting Martin and Jamar much at all. Gawn was never going to be a first 21 next year. He has a while to go yet. I hope he sticks around.

I don't think this is correct. I know hardtack saw it in The WA too. Clark in his presser said that he had only had a voicemail from Jim and had not spoken to him so I don't think it plausible that he gave him his 11.

I very much doubt my 'information' would convince you, Robbie. Nor would I air any sensitive details on Land - whether or not I had any. Suffice it to say - it has been a tough 6 months on all involved and I can only hope that we see the best out of Cameron and the other high calibre people at the club in the future.
-
I think Cameron is one very passionate Demon and very good at what he does. But I can see some problems and am just saying that if we were to not extend his contract I would understand. Cameron is a massive investment and while I think he has been worth every penny in the last couple of years, the fact remains that he was at the centre of some disharmony and the board may wish to go in a different direction.

Seems that way. A bit like us with Bate.

Could have sworn I put this in the main board... If this was moved - I understand why it was, but it touches on something that could probably be discussed outside of the trading board come January... And if I put it here, then I hope a mod agrees with me and moves it.

Well it can be read that way so no you haven't misunderstood. What I am trying to get at is we have a very well paid individual who has had trouble playing well with others, and that may not be the best fit for the club at a time when the most important decisions a CEO can make are already made. I know it reads tough. I would just understand if the board felt it was time to move on.

I think we are talking past each other here. I am saying that Schwab hasn't been comfortable that limited role and that Neeld's dominance of the FD will conflict with Schwab and his desire to play in anothers' sandpit, as you say. We will see late next year.

October will be synonymous with the most difficult, frustrating and hope filled month for AFL fans as Trade Week becomes Trade & Free Agent Signing Month: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/get-ready-for-4-week-free-for-all/story-fn69a32t-1226167211053 We touched a little on this during The Saga © but the main effect I see from the introduction of Free Agency (albeit in a very restricted FA) is that those who qualify for restricted and unrestricted FA will wait until October to talk about their contracts. Contracts will be signed later and later and fans just need to get used to the new dynamic. That will be a draining month for many teams (and fans) I am sure, but on the plus side - Demonland's members will swell for entire month before going back down to normal...

As we give him credit for his part in everything it should be noted that he is not a volunteer in all this and I have a different view to CEO's in football to many - and I am sure Cameron. If the board wish to save some cash and promote from within instead of paying for Schwab or a similarly waged individual I will completely understand as the major decisions will have already been made: head coach, head of FD, fitness staff, major sponsors, signing of KPF, and re-signings of key players (ie Trengove) will have been completed by the end of 2012. These decisions require a great CEO. But they are cyclical. And I would completely understand if the board decided to move on Cameron at the end of next year. I don't believe CEO's run the club - I think that the Head Coach is the one who should have run of the place (assuming the board have faith in him).
-
He certainly is passionate about the place, and I hope his relationship with others at the club is better now. We might not know for certain what happened the days leading up to 186 but whether or not Cameron is here come next trade week it is safe to say that he will be remembered as a very effective CEO. I'd bet a whole desk on it...

Finally .... the distracting spotlight will be elsewhere.
rpfc replied to Yoda's topic in Melbourne Demons
I stand by my 'give Bate a go in the midfield' idea. He wanted to go but we put a price on his head that suggested we never intended to trade him, that tells me that Harrington was told by Neeld that he saw him playing a role in his gameplan. I can only see him as a big body with Beamer in the midfield - as Beamer is the only other one that doesn't get pushed off the footy. I hope we treat him well at the start of 2012 and give him every opportunity to resurrect his career. -

We should give him the first five rounds form permitting. We either wanted him to stay or we are massive d!cks. -
I know some were expecting a top 25 pick but this is more than I expected for Warnock. GC obviously didn't want to use a PSD pick on him.

Their list becomes smaller every year doesn't it? Tad confusing behaviour.

Ah. My bad.
-
Frankly, I can only picture a few who won't be a problem... That's probably over-stating the issue but most of our players just don't have the discipline to play hard footy for 120 mins let alone play to a structure for 120 mins... I'm sure our senior players will be a great help with their buy-in - it should be an enormous influence over the group... My teeth were so clenched posting that last line I almost chipped a tooth...
-
Yeah, that may have been sourced from SNF... I guess we will find out soon.
-
Where did you guys get this info? Edit - Sport news first. I will take it with a grain of salt but I wouldn't put that story past reality, it certainly could of happened .
-
No to Lisle. Martin or Jamar will rest down there with Clark.

Black is a champion of the game destined for the AFL Hall of Fame. If Green/Robbo/White/Yze/Bruce feel aggrieved they are kidding themselves.
