There is so much derisive crap in this thread.
-
If you want to email SEN why just refute the claim - we are paying all of the cap, but itis 'effectively' 92.5% as we are frontloading. It is ingenius and will be THE reason we get an established star next year if we are able to attract one.
-
We are 'effectively' paying 92% of the cap but we will be paying close to 100% as we are frontloading contracts to give us space for FA or to trade for a gun. So that criticism is a bit hollow...
-
Hindsight? For many it was foresight and it was a train wreck we couldn't do anything about. His ego got in the way of sound judgement and that is the sad reality.
-
I know what you are saying and give it time we will welcome him back. But the fact remains he left for nothing and didn't listen to those of us who were telling him he was making a horrible mistake.
-
Yoda not trick us would.
-
We don't have because it paints the club into a corner. What if he played the first 15 games, triggered the extension, and then did his knee?
-
I just gave a list a names. I thought to myself 'how do I get a list of ruckmen to make it easier for Landers to see what talented back up ruckmen are out there?" Then I thought 'what about footywire? Surely that site would have average hitouts - that would lead me to all those names that I was trying to think of!' And then I said in a later post that Martin as equal to the ones you named - you did not include NikNat: Getting back to the point - Martin may have his faults but he is developing quickly and is already one of the best 2nd rucks in the league. And that allows us to play Clark excusively in the forward line.
-
He had to play a certain amount of games to trigger an extension. Needless to say he didn't get there...

It's 'smartarse'...(irony?) and re-signing with the club is making the right decision. His, and the club's. Green is a fine player, a great bloke and clubman, and rarely does the wrong thing by the club. He made a far better decision than his very good mate. It's a little bit patronising for me to laud his leadership on the no-brainer issue of re-signing. I believe it says more about Brad's humility than his leadership.
-
Green extending means he isn't an egotistical idiot. I saw this occurring and Cameron the Bruce ruined his legacy (however small). 9 games!! Ruin it for 9 games... And furioud d is right, he would be a big show for 2012 if he was still at the club.
-
That requires quite a bit of foresight..

VFL coach Brad Gotch scores Port promotion So Brad is off to SA and it looks as though another coach will be on his way here soon.
-
We would find someone...
-
Yes. But why wait, get them into the club as soon as possible I say. *Providing the draft isn't compromised the way it is this year.
-
That would be something.
-
It's end of non-final competing teams.
-
You said you hadn't thought of all the second rucks to compare to Martin - I said 'maybe you should think about it, hmm?' and then I gave you a list of ruckmen via the hitout search function on footywire... The end. I see that too, and you're welcome to that opinion. As am I.
-
With Clark there all he has to do is sit in the square and bring the ball to the ground.
-
Where is this coming from? Rucking is more than just taps, so Martin averaging only 15 isn't a concern. I just wanted to grab a quick list of ruckmen to give an idea of who would be comparable to Martin. At some point you might want to take people at face value.

I think the club may have believed Jurrah not to be suited to that role but if you are a mid and you run toward our forward line whose head do you put it on? Jurrah was head and shoulders the best option. Now he is genuinely the second forward and that is great. He can go where he wants around Clark and may even be our small forward option (or one of them). I think that Clark will make Jurrah walk a little smaller... And it's a good thing.

Excellent point.

He Who Lied I presume? I can't seem to muster up enough care to think about it...

Fan raised an interesting point about getting ready for the 2012 draft (namely Bate being delisted next year will be more beneficial than Pick 39 in this draft), and I think as it impacts on deletions now we should have a chat about it. In the 2012 draft we will want to use the two first round comp picks and the pick that we will take Viney with. I assume we will also use our second and third round picks. After that, it will be a pro-con decision. I also believe we will upgrade Nicholson. That means at least 6 deletions from the main list at the end of 2012. Who are we looking at here? If Maric, Warnock, and HWMNBN (he-who-must-not-be-named) make the three picks to get 36, 52, and 54 in this years draft then that is a good starting point to think about who makes way in 2012. Things to think about: - MacDonald, Fitzpatrick, and Wonna are OOC this year - Vulnerable players at the end of 2012? Spencer, Bate, Dunn, Strauss, Davis, Bennell, Jetta, Batram, and Green are out of contract and vulnerable in my view. - Wonna onto the RL this year (to open up pick 72 or as a swap with Nicholson?) or a simple extension for Wonna on the primary list? - giving MacDonald an extension for 2012 to better use their deletions from the list - does Green get another year after 2012? Interested to hear views as I am sure these are the questions Harrington has been asking Neeld and co. over the past few weeks. I might do an elaborate poll depending on interest levels and time... rpfc says... 2011 - Maric, Warnock, HWMNBN, and Wonna on to the RL. + Clark, 36, 52, 54 2012 - Jamar (VL), Spencer, Dunn, Bate, MacDonald, Batram, and Strauss. *This is heavily dependent on form I must say... + Viney, 10, 12, 34, 54,72/PSD/Wonna upgrade and Nicholson upgraded *Picks are rough estimates. I haven't gone into the PSD at all. Looking at the last pick and the PSD as being interchangeable. Edit - Forgot about Clark. And forgot Jamar could go onto the VL.
-
Yes, we are trying to push some deletions until next year. But let's not be so cynical when we are talking about the career of a young man. If you are on the list, you have the chance to do a Garland or a Martin.
