  1. We either trade or get to the pointy end of a draft - the best chance to get to the pointy end of a draft is with the mini-draft.
  2. What I will agree on is that it is reprehensible that the paper referenced Colin's previous incident with a former girlfriend. Just very cynical and in poor taste.
  3. I am not talking about your view. Others have certainly minimised and while you criticise those that sensationalise, I have criticised those that minimise. As for the extrapolation to HWL - it's an interesting juxtaposition. All I could defend myself is with the last line in your post.
  4. And fans to dismiss/minimise...
  5. "You still have a clean slate, but you better have your arse up and your head down because I am looking to make an example of someone."
  6. At some level, many suggestions on this thread are unrealistic...
  7. The facts are he couldn't drive his own car home because he was drinking the night before, and got kicked off the IR team for poor professionalism. And I agree that these are minor indiscretions. What I have a problem with are those that are simply excusing his behaviour entirely. He's on his break. The IR means nothing. He wasn't driving home - he did the right thing. Why should he stick around for the police? Call him an idiot and move on (that's all he is), but don't give him excuses.
  8. Yes, and what a low bar Colin has to reach now... "You went out drinking before IR training and couldn't drive your own car home and you left the scene after your car damaged property?" "But you weren't driving!!" "Who's a good boy?!" "That's right, Colin is a good boy!"
  9. PR is required BS. Deal with it.
  10. I would activate both but look to trade them. I want to trade those picks for an established star. Failing that I would like to use the mini-draft to get the best kid in a albeit smaller draft pool. We need star quality and these are the only surefire avenues available to get that star quality.
  11. He certainly did drink otherwise he would have been driving... It was his BMW. Oh, well done Colin - you didn't drink and drive!! Now if we can just get you to not commit to things you don't care about and not leave the scene where your car damages property - you'll be coming along nicely!
  12. Yes, I would prefer, however, that he simply decline beforehand and say to Mr Anderson - "Sorry Adrian. I have plans to get so 'right' that I am unable to even drive my car home the following morning, and that morniing happens to be a training day for the IR team."
  13. It may seem like that, but it stands to reason and fact that the pointy end of the draft has the best players. And if we finish 8th (and PA, Bris, or GC don't get comp picks for being awful) we will have picks 11, 12, and 13. To get pick 8 at a usable pick (as we will use pick 7 - our actual pick - on Viney) we would have to finish 12th...again. And our mid round pick would be 12. So it may happen but I would prefer to see what 8 and 12 could get us in trading before we used the picks. We knocked back 8 and 9 (Butcher and Browne) from PA for Trengove. High picks are premium.
  14. Well, whatever you call these people, we need more Bartels... And Picks 11 to 15 is very hit and miss when it comes to getting the sort of talent you are talking about.
  15. Yeah, we have watched the movie. You admit he's an idiot. The rest of what you have posted is just a list of excuses for Colin for his disrepect and stupidity. You can't just admit stupidity and then just list excuses for why we shouldn't care about said stupidity.
  16. Yes, but we have been KOTD with Viney on his way and if we can get something of equal quality from trading the comp picks we got from GWS then we will be ahead. And it must be reminded that the hole left by the-one-that-left allowed us to get a power forward that we might not have been able to get in the years that follow. Everything happens for a reason...
  17. You have got to be kidding me. I mean, I don't think we should over-react to this but you have moved the opposite direction... After reading your posts, I think Colin should be given an apology for the audacity of the IR team to fire him... If you don't respect the IR - then don't agree to play in it. As soon as the idiot said 'yes,' he made a comittment that is now as much a wreck as his Beamer... Neeld has his work cut out for him.
  18. I realise that there will be gradual improvement in the group, but we lost class and got those picks. I want those picks to get us that class back. We need to get an elite talent - even if they cannot play until 2014. Trade or Mini-draft. Then the Nat Draft. In that order.
  19. Why would Martin need the chop-out? He is the chop-out. So Jamar rucks for two-thirds of the game and Clark and Martin share a third? So Martin now rucks for a sixth of the game? 20 mins? Martin isn't a good enough forward to spend so little time in the ruck. And we let Sandilands and co. the chance to cut Clark in half for 20 mins a game? I don't like this at all.
  20. So the facts are that Colin was in the passenger seat of his own car as it crashed into a pole. He then left the scene but did not commit an offence. It seems one of the more minor things Colin has done. He can be such a moron. But we move on. (sigh)
  21. I think his height and footspeed might make it difficult long term in the backline. And a HBF is the easiest position on the ground - I want to see whether he can do something more with his career.
  22. Great tackler and a very hard mid. I don't know whether he can take the next step though. We will see.
  23. Spencer has to agree to be re-rookied.
  24. I think it is quite obvious that Clark is seen as a forward by the club, and he sees himself as a forward. We are crying out for one. If he spends extended time outside of the forward line then this venture will be a massive waste for all concerned. They must fashion a forward line that suits Clark's strengths and allows us to score goals even when he is out of form. We have to commit to him here, there is no going back.
