  1. Needless to say, I am happy with my appraisal.
  2. I think we overthink. Like the Tigers when they passed on Lance "Two Strikes" Franklin because of questionable queries over his personality. That Tambling is a fine young man! DERP.
  3. He's a good midfielder JT. And an elite clearance player. But he goes missing against the best teams and I can only think of excuses for him, and I think even he wouldn't accept those. He needs to get better if he wants to be anything more than a B+ mid and have achance to be in a flag winning side.
  4. Yes, but that is true for any pick - and considering the initial investment is higher, the ongoings should be higher to protect that higher inital investment. What I am trying to say is that TJ and Colin Sylvia were/are serial c#ck teasers for the massive initial investment and could we have provided a better ongoing investment to get the most out of them? Maybe, maybe not. What could we have done? More than we did with Jurrah? I have no answers - I only want people to realise there are investments that need to be made to help any person reach their potential. Whether you are from Yuendumu or the Mornington Peninsula...
  5. I thought the clubs put up 8 names each and then the kids had to agree?
  6. The Exception Rule There is an exception to every rule. Except that rule. Which would be the exception to the 'exception rule.' Thus validating the exception rule. This is patented to rpfc Inc. and any reproduction must acquire the written authorisation of rpfc Inc.
  7. And it is Sheahan. And apparently, he will do the occasional piece in the Hun, so reports of his death are exaggerated...
  8. Yes, quite. People love their blanket statements, RI included. The beauty is in the grey. I go with this rule and it rarely steers me wrong: if your view isn't nuanced, it's probably wrong.
  9. Let's not forget we are talking about teenagers here... We have had the ultimate investment three times in our history; TJ was lazy brillance and delivered much less than he promised, Watts is a precocious talent that up until early-last season was an embarrassment to many and remains a nervous frustration, and the other one we don't talk about... The Rookie Draft is like shopping at Hot Dollar - yeah, you might get a piece of sh!t, but it cost you nothing. And what if it isn't a piece of sh!t? What is it's gold?
  10. The failure rate of the projects I listed would be worse than the failure rate of those similar to LJ or Manson. Look, you are trying to say that some projects are harder than others, and - thinly veiled - we are talking about indigenous players here. What I am saying is that the draft is full of kids that may not make it - the Rookie Draft even more so - I don't like the idea of lumping players together purely based on where they come from, the cultural enviroment, or - god forbid - the colour of their skin. Everyone is different, and as Martin Flanagan has written so eloquently - LJ is a strong young man carving his own path. I would hope that Barry and Co. will judge the merits of recruiting Manson on their discussions with him, his family, and the level of his talent. The rest is just pseudo-intellectual social commentary. I know that sounds harsh, but I mean it in the nicest way possible.
  11. I was once confused like you are Bay but the mini-draft of 17 year olds has the 17 year olds from each draft - they are not the same pool of players. So Chelly is right, they are 16 and probably in year 10 wagging class and talking about LMFAO or Katy Perry or who else do kids like?...Morgan Freeman.
  12. Steve Johnson Liam Jurrah Ricky Petterd.
  13. Matthews coming out and keeping this going isn't helping the AFL. The AFL were happy in their "GWS knew all along they had to put him in the cap" nonsense and now that meme has been torn apart by Matthews' desire to get what's best for his club. They won't get it, I don't believe and nor should they.
  14. Might have been their 2010 figure. I know they had over 5k members from the ACT for 2010.
  15. Hey, I like Mike too. But the reverence his views are held in can be challenged. And he isn't dead, OD. He will do the occasional piece and be on the radio/fox.
  16. http://video.heraldsun.com.au/1828161081/Scully-a-Demon-for-life?area=videoindex3 I haven't been able to get this to work at...work...so if it actually is loadable - this is what Sheahan said after that presser in March.
  17. Well, that is somewhat of a fallacy as I vividly recall Mike in a short video on the Hun site saying "it looks as though he will stay." So, he may be a fine journo but was as dumbfounded as the rest of us.
  18. Dorothy? Girl jokes? Forget racism, you're getting into chauvinism territory... Jaded and SoonieMcFloo-whatever will not be happy...
  19. I certainly agree with this. The 'best position' conundrum left us with about 10 HBFs in the 22 for the last ten years... We will have to find a few more flanks on the half back as we Landers have variously said Blease, Grimes, Tapscott, Davey, Nicholson, Bennell, Garland, and Bail "play their best footy on the HBF."
  20. I hope our players are paying for their lunch at AAMI...
  21. Indecision 2012 - The Clutterbuck to the Whitehouse.
  22. Yeah. I am leaning towards DC's HWFUA. Us and Around being the last two words... And, yeah, that family have entered the lexicon and the zeitgeist and it ain't good.
  23. Er, don't know about that because of... Love Brent. And he was ill that day. But he had an inconsistent 2011. He got 10 more touches when we won or narrowly lost than when we were blown away. He went missing when we needed him the most. And as you think of reasons for his absence at those times, ask yourself - are they excuses?
  24. Why don't we just hypnotise them into thinking they are good? You can hit a target... You will tackle ferociously...
