  1. He offerred before Schwab was sacked. Wouldn't read anything into timing. If he can rally a few disaffected people behind the scenes and be helpful to any players who require some advice on how to get the most out of yourself then that is great. I would hesitant about a possible Presidential run. He would have to be a puppet on the business side of things and I wonder how he will go with that. McLardy should step aside when the right candidate emerges but I don't think that candidate has emerged yet.
  2. He's talking about the 23 years of wilderness we experienced that ended in 87. That is what RF is alluding to. We lost a great deal during those years. It would be akin to us not making the finals until 2029. Which would be rather bad, yes?
  3. I agree that Neeld is failing at his chosen profession, but I don't understand this. What is going to happen that is so terrible by waiting a while longer? We will have a caretaker coach whether we fire him in a fortnight or in 3 months time. The big decision will be, if Neeld cannot turn things around, is who we get in September/October. Neeld has time...in footy terms.
  4. That boy has a couple of very good parents. The kid enjoys being apart of a club, not just watching footy. His dad (or mom) must make the experience of going to the footy enjoyable win or lose.
  5. This is heavily advertised as the preferred option is a full membership if anyone knows of some Demons that are thinking of relapsing out (as opposed to relapsing in) then tell them to spend $90.
  6. Drawing a long bow there. The players are out of form, bereft of confidence, and look like they have no idea what to do out there but that doesn't mean that their development goes backwards or that they are 'mentally shot' (whatever that means and entails).
  7. We have spent more time on here defining that word than the AFL evidently did after McLachlan said he "didn't know what the definition of tanking is." Define it and I will tell you whether we did. That was a rhetorical question BTW. The AFL don't know what tanking is but they said we didn't do whatever it is that they can't define so that's that.

    Our game plan

I am sure the game plan is not rubbish. But Neeld has not been able to get his players to remotely get near to playing it well. He has also failed to get them to play competitive football at their, granted mediocre, best. If he wants to keep his job he will simplify everything - play one-on-one all over the ground and implore the players to run and carry the footy. If the players want him to keep his job - they will respond.
  9. Then you play within those parameters. He wants 18 teams to thrive - we are one. Consolidate. Rinse and repeat.
  10. His baggage was from the lead up to 186 down at Mordor when he was seen as an interferer by the players and a force against Bailey. The tanking episode was half a game of Warnock playing CHF and Johnson playing FB - it required no direction from above - everyone knew, like you, what had to be done. Schwab would have had little to do with that - as much as Wilson would like him to be involved in such a 'dastardly act.'
  11. Good discussion. Some very classy people on this board and I hope it is a reflection of what will happen in the ensuing months; we require new leadership but we need to have it done with the full blessing of the one to be replaced and with the stability of maintaining most of the current board. Schwab was a true Demon today and I hope his negotiated severance reflects that. Don and Cam have been great in trying circumstances but there does come a time for fresh eyes. A Demon to pull us together for President that gets an industry leading CEO in September/October. The players will ultimately decide the fate of Neeld, for good or bad and with rhyme or reason. And the world keeps revolving.
  12. We need someone to rally behind and/or who rally on our behalf as President. That means a former player of great standing and inspiration or a commercial entity like Eddie. All options are on the table, especially if the current board can stay largely intact. I wouldn't mind some sort of stability at the club.
  13. I thought the point of getting someone to resign is that the payout is significantly reduced or forfeited. I think that Cam will do what is best for the club.
  14. They can have fun and watch the Rugby. I would prefer they get some confidnce about themselves and trust in each other - if going to the Rugby helps that then great.
  15. That was not my intetntion. You should read the entire post. The players have had a handy scapegoat fall on his sword today. I hope their emotions are as vexed as mine are.
  16. Yeah, one is retired, one plays for Geelong, one plays for Brisbane... Cameron did this because it helps the club. I think it shows a great deal about the man who is blamed for all that is wrong at the club but as we will see in the next few months - is not the cause root of all evil.
  17. Well, he has made it easy for us to move on from what happened a few years ago. He should never have been given an extension but that isn't his fault. For him to resign is the best outcome from our clubs perspective as Boards can be challenged but executives are expensive to remove. He is a Demon despite his shortcomings and I hope we don't make the mistake that we seem to always make and that is make an enemy of a Demon who had the best interests of the club at heart. He moves on. We must move on too.
  18. We managed to get 9k people to a Melbourne v WCE when we were good in 2002. Craig Ellis was superb, the crowd was less so... We will not want to play games there and our bottom line would be better served by moving those games that cannot be played at the G to Darwin.
  19. That is irony. Because I am saying exactly that - you are not the victimised minority. We are all aware that things need to change, stop painting those that don't want immediate sackings - which are impossible and/or incredibly expensive - as indifferent, or unaware, or apologists, or all three.
  20. I was talking about patience with you, RR. If you don't think that the posters on this are then enemy of the future of the club then perhaps you should stop yelling at us and start listening. I am filthy with how we have started this year and I have said it repeatedly. I have also said that we are not far off a caretaker coach, removal of the CEO at some stage, and a change in Board leadership at the appropriate time. You are cursing my views, and similar views of others on here, for unknown reasons. We have 20 rounds to go, we will not be suddenly kicked out of the league, we have time to make the right decision in the best interests of our club. And I am not saying that to give time to the incumbents - I am saying it to give time to a possible President to assess his options and begin a challenge. I am saying it to provide us with an opportunity to poach a CEO later in the year, rather than throw an internal person into a role they are not familar with or ready for. I see a community that is hurting, angry, willing to fight for their club, looking for new people and new answers, and then I see you with the same emotions screaming at the rest of us as if we are indifferent. And we are not.
  21. So because I thought we give a 20 year old simpleton the benefit of the doubt - my views are forfeit? I cannot believe how you are acting towards those Demons whose views are not dissimlar to your own.
  22. How is that strange? What is your endgame? Mine involves an established coach being hired by an industry leading CEO, headhunted by a energetic President with football or commercial appeal. None of that can happen before September. Your immediate sackings will have us with internal replacements and that is fine but the endgame is the same as mine. The quicker you realise I am 3 kicks ahead in miles of space the better RR - I am no fool.
