  1. I'm with Nasher - Harrington is just the bloke managing what people are getting paid - he doesn't have a say in who gets contracts.
  2. It may be that. It may be 'play on Darling.' Confidence is such an intangible. It can be lost with an errant kick and regained with one strong mark. He had a strong PS and he needs something that Neeld has not been able to give many - instil some confidence. If Neeld does nothing else this year - can he help Jack salvage his fledgling career?
  3. I don't have a problem with our board members, from all accounts (public and private), they are a good group of successful people. I completely agree with the little fuss aspect, if we are to continue like this for the bulk of the season I believe that there will be a 'ticket' of sorts and I hope we do a handover of President to someone who can have some attraction from a football or commercial standpoint (either a 'Kernahan' or 'Eddie'), while keeping the Board members who wish to stay. This will have to coincide with a complete moving past at the Admin level of what happened in 2011 (remember this is if 2013 continues the way it has) and the removal of Schwab - I hope we negotiated an opt-out clause for this event. Coaching is a tad different in that caretaker coaches are more amenable to a club's stability (but more costly). Getting an experienced Coach in October will be tough. Mark Williams? I really hope we can pull a rabbit out of a hat and salvage this season.
  4. Apparently Pedersen played well in defence. I want to drop a few of these boys after The Debacle II: Hird Some Evil ©. I don't know what to do with Watts. He isn't the only confidence-less shell of a human being but he is the most prominent. I want to see Jetta. I guess Tapscott has to come back, Bail adds run, Magner should be playing, Pedersen in defence. What a shambles it all is. We need to throw out the gameplan and get some enjoyment out of game. That pre-game 'pep talk' was an exercise in abstract darkness. A depressed eulogy to a game not yet a maudlin memory.
  5. lol Range Rover is to blame for Neeld not being fired at the end of last year?

When we start winning it will be a win-win scenario. Because we won...

He realised his error. No need to clip him over the ears. TBH, I am sure his Ess supporting mates would call him weak if he did renounce. Edit: I meant 'he' realised his error, not 'I'. Sounded more arrogant than usual...
  8. RR - you can have your revolution and still support the club financially. We don't have owners like in the US (thank god). All we have is a normal administrative setup determined by an elected board of Demons who are there by the grace of God (The Members) and there own willingness to put aside time for the club.
  9. Substitute Matthews and you've got a deal... (half flippant)

Just saw this thread now. Very up and down over the last two days jb. Good to keep you around. It's an easier road when misery has company.
  11. RR - what are you talking about? I have not said anything more than 'if you are concerned enough to want mass sackings, you are not giving up on the club.' Personally, if you would step back from the 'end of the club' stuff and allow for some time (ir. end of season) for another ticket to challenge the board (or some of the board), then we don't have much to disagree on.
  12. Surely you can't be 'done with the club' and also call for mass sackings? You are either in or out. An if you are posting on this site - you are most definitely in. We have some decisions to make at the end of this season but don't kid yourselves that you can remove yourself and star pissing in the tent.
  13. I have said in the past that my support is unconditional so losses, however shameful, won't stop me from supporting the MFC. Interest wanes of course but I will pay my membership(s) and attend as many games as I can get to. I feel for the stories of fathers telling children that they can support other clubs. Ultimately this is how we went from where we were in 60s to where we found ourselves after 23 years in the wilderness. We are 7 years into our current wilderness and we look to be losing more kids and make the future harder again. Call for the coach to be sacked, plead for a board challenge, scream into the radio, demand more of players at the end of games - all these things are more helpful than abandonment. Let's get through this and make some hard decisions at the end of the year.
  14. Dismissive and rude to a very conciliatory post. You are a very inauthentic personality.
  15. I am always mentioning that the previous board is brought up too often by people as the cause of all our issues but you shouldn't sit there accusing others of deflection and obsfucation when there is no criticism of the previous board that sticks according to you. The best debaters I have come accross always mention what the limits of their own argument is. Nothing is black and white in this wonderful world. A critical mind should leave some time for self-reflection and not the self-absolution that you constantly give the previous board. Schwab may be removed, the board may be challenged and voted out, but that does not mean that like Gardner and his board, that they were anything but Demons trying to do the best they can for their club. This club is too small to be as fractured as it is - we await the rest of the season and the time for decision on our immediate future based on that evidence. All of that to be discussed right here on Demonland, where the discussion is respectful but tough and the views are wide ranging and deeply felt. It is also moderated by Demons who want nothing more than what's best for the Demons.
  16. Some of the views wyl comes up with can only be credited to him. You are fueling this pipe-nightmare that we will soon not exist. That is a sh!t record you keep bringing up. It's not that much different to Fitzroy's. But that is where the similarities end. I happen to have a few family friends who knew the state of their finances in the last few years. They were not doing well at all while paying approx 70% of the cap at the time. There are reasons other than W/L record as to why Fitzroy went the way of the Dodo (what, to Queensland?). The record under this Board and Schwab isn't pretty (to say the least: 24W and 65L), and after the offseason relaignment that promised more than Sunday we have good reason to ask for new people IF what happened Sunday is to repeat itself often this year. Happy for the criticism but when it is pushing reason, I will push back.
  17. I get the 'keep him at Casey' argument but life is never fair - there are always going to be different standards for different players - Trengove is a captain and he needs to start doing some leading on the field.
  18. I thought for a 50 gamer he put in. And Sylvia was not terrible. It was tough to write those last 5 words...
  19. You are equating HWFUA to my view that we should wait for more than one rounds evidence before we push for a board challenge, the firing of the CEO, and the removal of the coach and your view that we should do all those three things now? Don't waste my time with that. My issue is not who you wish to remove but when, if we dish up a few more months of this then I doubt anyone at the club would be safe. And my point to show your 'faux alarmism' is that you are hitting a raw nerve you know you are hitting. You are getting wyl riled up with this stuff and he is taking a couple with him over the cliff (note: that is a proverbial cliff...). If you think, as I do, that this club will endure, don't put forward that we are headed for the same fate as Fitzroy. It is disengenous and, despite the scoffing from the Demonland bleachers that this we recieve, it is beneath you.
  20. Stop stifling dissent! I feel subjugated!
  21. This coming from someone who said: Just lip service? But which sentiment? I think you are being an alarmist and you are feeding people's irrational paranoia that we might not exist. I am not a fan of this at all.
  22. "being turned into a train wreck"? What were we before Stynes, McLardy, and Schwab rocked up? We were hardly on the rails. The Gardner Express was pulverised in the mud, next to the Szondy Pacific, next to the Gutnick Transcontinental, next to the...
  23. Just because you are well off and in the public's eyes does not mean you should expect to be trolled. HFF - as priveleged a position as Magner is in, I have no idea what you are complaining about. You say you are upset with Nathan Jones over 'not being accountable.' Does this mean being trolled on social media should be accepted if one loses the weekend before? You can troll players if you want to - just don't expect me to endorse it and don't expect me to think they deserve it.
