  1. You can start a thread shoudl you wish. They are not just the domain of RR.
  2. No, but wins will. Then you might be holding your you-know-what.
  3. Ok, so with Davey, Trengove, McDonald, and Terlich coming in and with some comments from Neeld and Grimes about resisting the urge to throw people around I can see the team setting up like this: B: Gillies, Frawley, Garland, McDonald, Terlich, and Watts. C: N Jones, M Jones, Grimes, Viney, Trengove, McKenzie, Sylvia, Toumpas, Blease, and Nicholson (sub). F: Clark, Sellar, Byrnes, Howe, and Davey. R: Jamar With Blease and Trengove in that midfield looks better. Look being the operative word. I got Nicholson out of the backline but he may be apart of the starting 6, at which point I will get sad but also Garland may move forward. Well done to Matt Jones who was good in his first game, and to Byrnes who worked hard and tackled well. Good luck to Terlich in his first game. Let's hope the midfield turns up and the boys play with some confidence.
  4. They have some time. At some point we are going to get this stuff right, we can't assume the fate of those that have gone before will be the fate of those there now.
  5. These stories are the proof of what I say about this club. It will endure long after we have passed because of the meaning it takes in our minds and in our lives and we will continue to support it and fight for it so that these stories don't become myth. It will be a fable constantly rewritten.
  6. Just one thing - we didn't tank and no-one thinks we did in 2007. I cannot believe I am telling you this for the second time CBDees - we played Carlton in what was then known as the Kreuzer Cup and we were largely laughed at by the football public by letting a PP after the second round slip through our fingers. And then even more so when our ineptitude the next year meant that Nick Naitanui would also be Demon if we had lost that game against Carlton. (However, this could all be blamed on the Bulldogs who somehow allowed us to beat them in late 2007 when Riley was Caretaker) Anyway, there is a little bit of recent history. Strange day it was in 2007. Akin to going down to your local park and feeding pidgeons, and watching TJ run around untagged for the first time since 1998.
  7. I really like this - it's not just for Jack though. It's for a great number of our players (and our club in general). I can recall a conversation with a TV Journalist and Baseball player Evan Longoria. Now he is a star now, but he was asked how he approached the game with confidence from his first 'at-bat' in the MLB and Longoria replied that he wasn't confident from the start, he just knew that no other feeling is going to help him as he stares down pitchers in the big leagues. He then repeated a oft used US phrase: "fake it, 'till you make it." I would like to see a few of our boys with their head up, chest out, and look like they are confident in themselves and their teammates. After a while they won't have to remind themselves to show that confidence, they will just be confident.
  8. If what we saw on Sunday continues throughout 2013, I think a few other people will be 'retired.'
  9. No-one knows how that trade will turn out. What I will say is that for Pick 13 was used to get Hogan and Barry and in that draft we also got Toumpas and Viney. While getting Hogan and Barry that Pick 13 turned into Pick 20 and we then used that Pick to get a 24 year old FF, who despite the best efforts of a few Collingwood and Melbourne supporters who vehemently deny it played a role in his former club winning a flag. My issue is not with those supporters, or with people who say he might not be worth the price tag - my problem is with 'journalists' (and I wonder what Pickering would be in this instance as he is also an agent) saying we gave up too much for Dawes when we need talented youth without saying that not two days before that trade we secured Viney, Hogan, and Barry and then selected Toumpas with the fourth pick in the draft. It's obsfucation and equivocation used by people who have a preconcieved point and the truth does not help them prove it.
  10. They are both listed on the bench for Casey. Why is Jetta not playing AFL?
  11. As long as noone uses the M word again. Seriously, a throw away line from Neeld and our whole off-season strategy is seen in a light that is completely unfair. I know that is off-topic but it is annoying. Pickering, mentioned the M word and said that we got all these older blokes and not good, young kids as if Pick 88 (Rodan through getting rid of Morton), Gysberts (Pedersen), Pick 54 (Matt Jones), Pick 90ish (Gillies), and Pick 100ish (Byrnes) will amount to anything. And that is without mentioning those spots were created by moving on underperfomers that won't be around we are decent - his reason for saying we shouldn't have given Pick 12 for Clark... I swear he said that last bit...
  12. Love seeing Terlich in there for Dunn. Might be difficult for him to get back in if Terlich takes to his role. Glad Gillies gets another shot - I thought the entire backline was rubbish last week - I didn't want to see him scapegoated. Trengove will take a while to get going...
  13. lol Who would go on Sunrise and announce anything? Obligatory media spots with used cliches. That is almost a haiku...
  14. Wouldn't be doing that. It'll sound like he is close to be fired. The dreaded Chairman's Display of Confidence. He has 43 games left on his contract.
  15. Olisik - Demonland is on fire and you give this sh!t over a torn hammy?
  16. You know I like you HG, and your brother, and I trust that what you will add will not be salacious and defamatory. I am sorry we are at where we are at.
  17. RF - that is disappointing to say the least. Do you remember when we had a flap about whether Schwab would be kept before his last contract? This is part of why I could see the club moving past Cameron. He is aloof and not good with stakeholders but he is good with sponsorship and articulating direction. We have to deal with this in September/October. If the board is challenged and overcome, I hope Schwab's contract has a clause in it. Or this will not be pretty.
  18. I have no idea what you are implying with my username in inverted commas but you can have your blood at the end of the season. If this year turns out the way you think it will turn out then you will have you new board, your new CEO and your new coach. What we cannot take is another ridiculous mid-season indictment and removal of people. Bloodlust can wait.
  19. This is just sad, choke. I can't believe this to be an eventuality. It is the kind of hopelessness I saw out there on Sunday. If we are asking the players to fire up, we should maintain our fire. Viney and a few of his friends will change this place. It may be a hope but it is all we have. Don't forfeit it so easily.
  20. He won't judged on what happens next week, just like he won't be judged on what happened on Sunday. Give me 4 months of solid footy and people keep their jobs. It's pretty f___ing simple.
  21. I ddin't see anything like that over the weekend. Over the ONE weekend. You can have your beliefs, stuie, but like you have been saying in other threads - don't give me truths that are far-from-established and imply I am misguided for not accepting the far-from-accepted.
  22. I am trying to appease those who want blood and the restrictions of reality. All those that want them gone NOWWWW!!!!! Ask yourself whether it is bloodlust or whether it is the best interests of the club in your heart.
  23. What about rucking? Any rucking in those stats? You have your pre-concieved notions and you are using last week to buttress them. That doesn't convince me, you should have said "despite of what happened last week I still believe Martin > Jamar."
  24. They are not mutually exclusive, and you will have a club well beyond 2015. Don't be so alarmist. I am all for firings and board challenges. In October.
  25. Sad, sad state of affairs... I don't like what we are doing to ourselves on this sh!t. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. No good will come out of it.
