  1. He will play games. I mean, we got net 2 more midfielders, both with less experience than Evans... Better pedigrees though.
  2. Lol Lovetts were not brothers. Febeys. Cockatoo-Collins. James and Anthony McD as you say. We got the dud Gaspar brother that I watched as a 10 year old kick out from fullback, stub his toe, and broke his foot in a reserves game. The few thousand people early for the game would have made quite the face palm meme as we held our heads in unison. Don't really care about drafting brothers tbh, I just like telling that story...
  3. Quantum shifts can only move so much so quickly. Glaciers move mountains and make valleys but very slowly. We are just terrible, and we got players I address this in the medium term, not 2014. Roos as a coach will a great deal, but lifting us 6 positions is as far as I can see, and that is quite an improvement I think. I actually think I am being positive when I say 12th or 11th is possible...
  4. Doesn't he actually start getting paid in November? I don't think he is actually coach yet...
  5. How is Cross 'no longer required'? We picked up a replacement for Sylvia and two kids with 14 games experience. Cross would be more than handy, and he would be cheap.
  6. Throwing $200 bucks away. All we have is Roos and Vince as a replacement for Sylvia. The decision to get 2 for 1 with ND2 is a medium term decision considering we got a 20 year old with injury issues to get on top of. Michie has played one game of AFL and I am sure will need time to adjust to this level before providing the kind of footy some on here think is possible. Our improvement will come from who we have getting healthy. Trengove, Clark, Dawes, and Frawley. I don't think it is enough for the top 12 let alone the 8.
  7. He's not. Got to be Hogan then...
  8. That would confuse it. Just worry about the club that lost the player, it did for us and the Saints. Swings and roundabouts. We will be less unattractive when we are not so crap. FA or not - that is why we can't get big names. 'But rpfc, Roos!' Yeah, yeah, but everyone thinks he is pushing an elephant uphill, and they don't want to be apart of the elephant for the three years it will take to reach the top of that hill.
  9. Updated. Busy day... In laymans: there are 4 spots open right now, with ND9, ND40, and ND58 to come onto the list. DFAs and PSD2 might put pressure on Jetta, Nicho, and Taggert who are still OOC. Clisby also might not get on the Primary List in 2014.
  10. It's an error in the article. They got the same as us - Band 3. Pick 25.
  11. I think it is just bad maths. I will investigate but Band 2 should be Pick 20 for Dal Santo.
  12. So it's not the end of the world? Maybe it's lying in wait...
  13. It's the price of being good, Mr Fox.
  14. Yeah, don't know how to judge it. I will do that in September 3 years from now. Comparing it to the Judd trade is a little rich, precisely because it wasn't that rich... I like it for next year though. And he is only 20. This is the age we need to bring in. Love the idea of it, but it can't be judged yet.
  15. Remove the comp and you remove this hold up we have seen while teams are waiting for the comp, and removes the desire to not 'spoil' your comp by not signing a FA if you lost one. It has restricted movement of players. But a simplified compensation model is the answer in my book.
  16. Well, if you want to keep compensation, you better start liking this version of free agency because the player managers are already using discontent with the whole thing to sow the seed of removing compensation altogether. Grab a hold of this FA because it is the softest form of it on this green earth.
  17. At best? It's either Band 2 - a couple picks behind our 2nd rounder, Band 3 - the very next pick behind our second rounder, or Pick 38 - and that won't be good enough off it to be relevant. So I don't care to quibble over whether we give them Pick 22 instead of 23 if it comes to that...
  18. We have done this before. I have myself analysed why we are where we are. Salary cap breaches hurt a decade after they were found. Bad drafting hurts 6 years after the fact. Anyone judging drafts as they happen or even a year or two later are wasting their time, and yours.
  19. When we match that offer, he has the right to reject it and go through the draft.
  20. Spot on, marster.
  21. That might be two picks before our second rounder, the very next pick after our second rounder (my educated guess), or pick 38. I don't think there will be a substantive difference between our second round pick and the comp pick.
  22. Those listed next to 2013 are OOC.
  23. Updated. 8 down to 6 vacancies with Hogan and Michie on the list.
  24. It's all about the midfield for me, if the club thinks a deal can improve that area significantly more than ND2 would in the short to medium term - do it.
  25. How are you awake? Save for Jones, no Demon has done anything for the better part of a decade. Dawes gets talked up because we have been in desert for ages, and we will take whatever we can get. Clark too. At some point we will cease to roll our eyes at the kinds of things he is saying. He happens to believe he is part if the solution; that he can help. And with the recent departure of someone who had 10 times the chances to do something, we should keep in mind that while it is frustrating to hear the sweet nothings, it is better than witnessing ten years of sweet nothing. Dawes will surprise a few I think, and I hope it is as early as 2014.
