  1. If the deal is decent - and he is willing, then of course you do it. We bemoan our lack of leadership and strong bodies to guide and protect our young players and then when the off-season rolls around we suddenly forget where we are and think we have the luxury of the same decisions that a Richmond makes. Get real. We can use a Brad Sewell for a few years.
  2. You're right. I misread what you said. But he is lucky in that he will get what all other teens draftees usually get - 2 years. He could have been told 'that's it, son' already... I hate the rookie list, it should be scrapped. Just have expanded lists.
  3. I don't know if it is bad, but it sure as he'll doesn't sound good...
  4. And that is why those that don't like FA should embrace what we have now; agents are pushing for removal of compensation, and restricted FA.Soon they will want to have FA sooner, and they will use the discontent from those who don't like FA to say that it needs to be 'improved.' The cat is out of the bag but the bag is full of tricks, as another poster pointed out - the NFL is where the AFL and the AFLPA look to for best practice but I wonder what the players will think about the lack of guaranteed money and inability to stop trades that is involved in the NFL.
  5. The rollovers are over, had to pay before the GF for MCC members. So the last few thousand have been The Roos Factor. And soon H_T will start his comparisons from previous years.
  6. Mate, I work in IT; you just hexed the entire board. Damn you, Titan!! Never gonna get Shiel now...
  7. Players don't want to come here because we are a running joke in the AFL at the moment. Inflate that percentage, play with some fire and belief, have a few wins and the wheel starts turning. FA doesn't care who you are or what your ladder position is, if you start acting like a competent club you can attract and keep good players.
  8. If he is keen on tw challenge he would be perfect to put next to Jack Viney.
  9. You mean 'fortunately?' And rookies have a 1 + 1 contract. Our own Dean Terlich was cut after 1 season. Good luck to a good kid. Let's hope he gets treated like more than a rookie under Roos.
  10. That article mentions Essendon not us.
  11. How about this for a deal: Shiel for 2 clean. GWS can not do a deal with Adams' selected club. PSD2.
  12. If I was Viney and Mahoney and a team offered Pick 22 for Colin - I would take it. We will find out for certain in a couple weeks.
  13. If I was Viney and Mahoney and a team offered Pick 22 for Colin - I would take it. We will find out for certain in a couple weeks.
  14. And you don't see how taking the only competitor to GWS out of the market would have made a difference? GWS need their allowance as they teethe, Franklin should be there and the sport would be better for it.
  15. The Worry? People cannot adequately describe The Worry. The fear is that big clubs will suck up all the talent through FA. That is absolute crap. FA allows 28+ year olds a few years at the club of their choice on their terms. Teams can pay them an extra $100k outside the cap to keep them at the club. RFA can be re-signed or traded, if the compensation sticks around in near to it's current form it is another soft landing for clubs in this new FA era. The Worry is unfounded.
  16. Hope it's true and we can get something done. Throw in Miles or Bugg... I am greedy.
  17. Plenty. First, the scenario for Vets involved 10 year vets at that club. Not vets from othe clubs. Secondly, that scenario is now defunct. Thirdly, the new scenario is you can have an unlimited amount of 10 year vets and you can pay them each $100k outside the cap. So we could do that for Jamar. But what is the point when we don't have a cap squeeze... As for Chapman - I am sure he would be good value for a couple years, but we have bigger fish to fry this trade period so am more concerned with that.
  18. I am hoping Roos will be the face of the club for some years yet. Even if he isn't coach.
  19. W have already cleared 7 positions, D2014. And I think a couple more to come. That's a clean out. And I would like 3 mids too to put into the team. But what assets do we have to move? ND2, ND21, ND22 (hopefully), and some players of value. You have to give something to get something and we need a midfield.
  20. Yeah, he failed. Countless others have too. But he still gets to go and watch and have a beer and enjoy the coming renaissance. He loves the club and he deserves what he got and not a jot more. Move on, the club has. And his articles have made some petty good points; you fail with the best of intentions and the purest of motives. It does not a villain make,
  21. Guys, please, you're both just awful... (IWUAEHIIUE) (Nod to Family Guy and the Gyllenhalls)
  22. lol Welcome to our planet! The TV is overrated but pastries are good. Enjoy!
  23. I think it is closer to $400k from whispers I hav heard. We will find out with a week of Trade week to go.
