  1. Yeah, don't know how to judge it. I will do that in September 3 years from now. Comparing it to the Judd trade is a little rich, precisely because it wasn't that rich... I like it for next year though. And he is only 20. This is the age we need to bring in. Love the idea of it, but it can't be judged yet.
  2. Remove the comp and you remove this hold up we have seen while teams are waiting for the comp, and removes the desire to not 'spoil' your comp by not signing a FA if you lost one. It has restricted movement of players. But a simplified compensation model is the answer in my book.
  3. Well, if you want to keep compensation, you better start liking this version of free agency because the player managers are already using discontent with the whole thing to sow the seed of removing compensation altogether. Grab a hold of this FA because it is the softest form of it on this green earth.
  4. At best? It's either Band 2 - a couple picks behind our 2nd rounder, Band 3 - the very next pick behind our second rounder, or Pick 38 - and that won't be good enough off it to be relevant. So I don't care to quibble over whether we give them Pick 22 instead of 23 if it comes to that...
  5. We have done this before. I have myself analysed why we are where we are. Salary cap breaches hurt a decade after they were found. Bad drafting hurts 6 years after the fact. Anyone judging drafts as they happen or even a year or two later are wasting their time, and yours.
  6. When we match that offer, he has the right to reject it and go through the draft.
  7. That might be two picks before our second rounder, the very next pick after our second rounder (my educated guess), or pick 38. I don't think there will be a substantive difference between our second round pick and the comp pick.
  8. Updated. 8 down to 6 vacancies with Hogan and Michie on the list.
  9. It's all about the midfield for me, if the club thinks a deal can improve that area significantly more than ND2 would in the short to medium term - do it.
  10. How are you awake? Save for Jones, no Demon has done anything for the better part of a decade. Dawes gets talked up because we have been in desert for ages, and we will take whatever we can get. Clark too. At some point we will cease to roll our eyes at the kinds of things he is saying. He happens to believe he is part if the solution; that he can help. And with the recent departure of someone who had 10 times the chances to do something, we should keep in mind that while it is frustrating to hear the sweet nothings, it is better than witnessing ten years of sweet nothing. Dawes will surprise a few I think, and I hope it is as early as 2014.
  11. Yeah, we should not allow any young Demon to wear that number simply because some simpleton bolted... That is being do,instead by numbers in the other direction - you have gone from one extreme to the other. There is a happy middle and we got there with Viney jnr and we will get there with whoever gets 31 in the future.
  12. So not happening? We have to surely act on the rules of the day, and not make decisions on what may be.
  13. As much as I get frustrated with those naysayers. This picture is fresh pudding. I would like to eat the pudding for a couple of years. I...I really butchered that idiom...
  14. Yes, it will be around 59/60. Good point.
  15. I'm glad he is laying down some truth to those fools on 5AA. We may be terribly run, stupid club with a history of bad luck and poor decisions but... I forgot where I was going with this...
  16. Can I just say that it is good for footy that 12 months after PA was where they were at they are the preferred destination for a talented SA boy coming home. That is very welcome.
  17. The reason is simply to force change every year so the PFA can say - 'we brought this many kids into the system, and this many players found new homes, blah blah.' It's completely arbitrary. And its all about Primary list deletions - 3. Hogan, Clisby, and Magner coming onto the list could mean we don't go to the draft at all. Of course, we won't do that though...
  18. Please show me the article that quotes the AFL saying they will scrap compensation picks.
  19. For the same reason we want to spend pick 2 for Rockliff, Shuey, et al. Skip the dev stage, give the bloke a role and watch him become a star. I would trade him an established mid, but he has the skills to be Ryan O'Keefe. Get Roos to help him with his finger that's up his arse and get him to work hard off a wing/hff.
  20. Yes, 8 Brownlow votes going to Rd 4 when Guerra decided to use the Telstra Dome turf to injure the best player of the first seventh of the season in the AFL. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Bloody Guerra.
  21. lol at those who hate the spin - what do you want the club to do? Every person/organisation/entity spins. It is simply a way of stating facts in a way that reflects the best for oneself. If you abolished all PR firms today, they would spring up again tomorrow with a new title and a compelling campaign against whoever abolished them... As for the Successor Search of 2013; we came up empty. But that's ok. That means that we are happy to admit failure rather than make a decision for its own sake. That's progress.
