  1. I am still pizzed off that they played him at all in the PS. He had work being done on his back in the training session before the game - he pulls up sore after the game. It was a poor decision to play him but hopefully some good will come of it and we will get him right before playing him again. Footy players rarely play at full capacity/health but you don't fool around with certain injuries - Dawes' calf and Hogan's back being those that come to mind.
  2. Of course it would be. Fairer draw, a much more comprehensive FA/draft/trade system, and equalisation of merchandise, and match day revenue - these things would have to come in the next few years if the AFL wants to have a game that doesn't look like the EPL.
  3. I don't think he is a 'hole' on our list. I can see what you are saying, but jeez, the words you are using grate with me.
  4. That game is our institutionalised welfare that we should do away with in our quest for equalisation of the game.
  5. Yeah, KingDing, Strauss is another one of those players with a temperature gauge up his arse.
  6. Do not agree. Outside of this place, Grimes is not seen in the right light at all - he's underrated. You say he is an 'ok' defender, 'poor' with the ball, and whatever the hell a 'cat' is under pressure. With that write up, you should be 'disgusted' that he is captain of your club. Why don't you watch him closely and then look at your descriptors - I think you will be disgusted with 'ok', 'poor', and 'cat'...
  7. Watched Spencer closely in a few stoppages and he is far too concerned with what his opponent is doing. He needs to try and think of himself as someone others need to be concerned with - not the other way around. Jamar/Gawn/Spencer - our rucks are very limited for various reasons.
  8. It was Spencer. If he gave it and Spencer fluffed it - we all would have said "take it on yourself to kick that Chris!" I know I would have. As a forward I know one thing - he wouldn't have slept well Sunday night - you just cannot miss the ones he did.
  9. Wow. Even a name... Do you want to share where you obtained such information? Or perhaps how you can now 'confirm' it? You can throw vague grenades if you want to, but don't expect love for it.
  10. Mate, the locks are being changed at the club. No-one wants a rah-rah, beer battered tough love coach anymore - it doesn't work. It didn't work for Neeld/Watters in the AFL and it isn't working in the league that you were in. Deal with it.
  11. Riley looks solid, but he is coming off a broken leg, his lack of a base makes it hard for him to have an impact. And I don't want to throw in and spit out more fledgling kids, and yes, I know Riley is more mature than most rookies.
  12. Bit flippant maybe?
  13. Mate, it's all over. You told the blokes there was nothing but negatives to take from that game. The players are coming to me and saying they are leaving if you are still in charge. I have called the president and it's done - he could not believe you didn't see any positives in that game - you will be getting a call in the morning. I am going to have to captain-coach again...
  14. I was there, and I saw them - as hard as they were to watch - I don't think you get a full picture from the TV either. But it cuts both ways, Watts has a good workrate and gets to more contests. The way he 'affects' most of them isn't good enough. It just isn't. But he will trust his teammate to win the footy and get it to him and that is something. We are like moths to a flame when around the footy, and other clubs have 'release' players and 'outlets' and they destroy us. Watts' skills are suited to that as we all know. It's the lack of intensity when about to get the footy in contest with another that is frustrating and I am looking at Roos to fix this.
  15. If you were my coach, you would have already lost me.
  16. If you don't like what you saw yesterday, what did you think of the last few years? God strike me, we are turning the screw to being relevant again and people want to blow up the place because Watts hugged a tackle and Dawes/Frawley kicked terribly. You go watch tomorrow's game but don't for a second think that we aren't better than we have been: Roos promised us some progress and a defined game plan by Rd 5 and I have seen it. If people want to keep their warm bitter blindness they can, and they can go watch someone else. Sick and tired of these jumping expectations of posters. Have a coherent, consistent opinion.
  17. Well, I am going to stand up for AoB here: Watts has great skills, and I personally was disappointed with how he played. I just don't see a lot of skill in our midfield and I think there is an instruction that Watts should receive rather than get and that is fair enough. However, he needs to show more intensity around the footy. It is honestly 6 acts (or non-acts) that we are blowing up about. Roos should be able to talk him into better habits. You can play your role and still show some intensity around the footy when it is your turn to show some intensity. He gets around the ground, he just needs to get out of 3rd gear when around the footy.
  18. Vince, Tyson, and Jones? Eye roll. They had a down day but please... Watts needs a rocket and a mission from Roos. Get him in the guts, get him in the rotation and get him to show some intensity around the contests. He looks stuffed in contests and it isn't just his alarming lack of physicality. This should be a test of Roos - get Watts' arse in 4th gear.
  19. That 2nd term was Ablett conscience nonsense. The rest was good. Our brand of footy ain't pretty but effective. 28 I50s to 20 after half time. We are getting there. Too bad Tyson was down and McDonald out played. Could have won that.
  20. The 'aim' is to win your next game. You have to win a few games to play finals from memory. That has been hard to do these last few years. Good teams worry about their next game, and here you are calling posters losers because you are getting 11 wins ahead of yourself.
  21. What a terrible sentiment.
  22. I think we lost both last week and made Carlton look terrible for 3 qtrs.
  23. Perceived pressure is the killer. Get your opposition to dispose of the footy in a rushed and haphazard manner and you create turnovers. That comes from the entire team have a focus on tackling pressure (and not worrying too much about their own bloke) and not letting a team have an easy out. When the other team has a G Ablett that is hard to do... He gives those around him more time because a couple of our blokes will always be overly concerned with him and not the ball. Try and get the ball and tackle the bloke who gets there first would be my advice.
  24. Didn't you wonder whether the players were 'scarred for life' and that Roos has his 'work cut out for him?' So we have gone from that to finals aspirants incredibly quickly... The players are working through their own confidence issues and they are progressing - other than losing, outsized expectations is the last thing they need. Worry about GC, then worry about the Swans, then the next game after that. Who knows maybe you were right about them being scarred for life...
  25. This thread is just a vehicle for you to call posters losers... We should just worry about the next game. They are beginning to build the mentality that they can win any game they play in, I hope they keep their focus on that.
