Welcome to Demonland: Pick 11
We either did this to get into another trade convo or for a specific player and I love when Taylor trades up for a specific player. We donât need ND27, we need talent. And donât get me started on pointsâŠ

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Billings
I know it is an adjustment. We would still have the press but it would give us better looks up forward to our best forwards Fritsch and Pickett in 1-1 situations that may allow us to keep CP5 in the middle longer, or more damaging when he does go forward. Right now, we are defence first and defence last - all I am trying to do is question that âlastâ bit and for us to lean into our future - McVee and Rivers - the exact same thing we did with Lever and May to win in 2021.

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Billings
Iâm a no, but thatâs not really against Jack - itâs more that I want to lean into a new focus on what I will call the McVee-Rivers Standard. Strong counter-attacking HBs, wings, and outside mids who are bold, comfortable with handballing forward, have neat kicks, and provide âjust in timeâ defence - not âdefence first.â The difference being that when the ball is in dispute - they are looking to be positive, so that when we intercept - we are off, and when we donât intercept -we push to block space and get to the corridor. To me, Billings is a front runner.

We didnât play him ahead of Schache. In a final. Schache. Got to be too much water that has now flowed under that bridge. The bridge is now gone. Time to move on. If we get a pick in the 20s - great. 30s - sigh. 40s - Argh. 50s - ok, Brodie, youâre sticking aroundâŠ- Welcome to Demonland Andrew McQualter
Do they mean as âsenior assistantâ? Someone has to run the box. Itâs either McQ or Chaplin.- Yze replacement
I think there is a three pronged improvement for us next year; better forward talent, better ball movement, and better forward movement and structure. The first one is trade period, the second one I hope is an FD as a collective mindset shift with hopefully mcQualter driving that, and the third is a forwards coach with a system and structure and discipline of movement and patterns. I havenât seen anything very impressive when I have been at games the last few years. Aside from Fritsch and Brown here and there, there is not much forward craft and structure on display.- Yze replacement
Thatâs good. Now whatâs the go with Stafford?- Todd Goldstein
So heâs not leaving to win something thenâŠ- Melksham set to play on in 2024
Well, no⊠for two reasons; you misspelled âarenâtâ and you took from my post something that I didnât imply. Supporters opinions donât matter. My opinion, and most certainly, your opinion doesnât matter.- Melksham set to play on in 2024
I am glad to see a nuanced response from posters on here toward this decision. Itâs the kind of decision a good footy club makes. There are many benefits to him staying as others have noted in a year that will be a rehab year. He wonât take list spot with the long term injury replacement mechanism, he will be cheap, most of his salary would be covered by insurance - itâs a free hit and allows us the option to insert him into a 2025 forward line that might still need him (heâs a niche role player that donât grow on trees). And he is an excellent leader to boot.- To settle a betâŠ
3 words isnât enough, no.- Trade Rumours 2023
Max can take over games and was that in the QF that we should have won. He is not just a ruckman and nor is he any old leader. The FD tried to do him (and our window) a favour and evolve him into a backup for 3-4 more years but Max canât do it. Heâll most likely be out of the game by 2025. And with May being one of the top 5 FBs in the game also being out around then - our window will not be letting much of a breeze in. We need to replace that elite talent - it doesnât have to necessarily be in the same positions but a couple of a stars will soon be white dwarves and thatâs a problem.- Has this been a good year for the AFL?
The AFL came late with a fixture and the only reason the players have a deal is because the menâs wouldnât seperate out the deals. The AFL tried to shortsell them by saying your tv numbers are down (as we arrange for 5pm and 11am games) and your crowd numbers are down (while burying them in suburbia at awful time slots around âthe real stuff.â The AFLW need a strong CEO of its own willing to take own the boys club that is treating like a virtue signalling adventure; âwe love women! But we donât want to do anything to support them or what they wantâŠâ Everything good in the last 20 years has been driven out of the clubs.- Has this been a good year for the AFL?
