I didn't want them traded out 'just to churn the list' with more draft picks and they haven't - we have got targeted some players and got them.

If Howe went into the draft - Collingwood would pick him up there. Honestly, save the indignation for when we 'collapse' and let good players leave for less value...

That is best case scenario really. A great deal of water has to go under that bridge. He has to perform consistently to be near as effective as Kent is on a flank, then Kent has to adapt to being in the midfield well enough not to just abandon it and put him back on the HFF. I have way more faith in Melksham as a role player than Kennedy.

Yes, but in Hogan's Forwardline - you don't need to be a world beater - there is one there already. Any player in there would be role players - I wouldn't go out of my way to spend a top 6 pick on role players... I would try and get the best mid they can get their hands on. Maybe that's what they see with ND3 in that deal with GC.

Why play hard ball on a bloke who is on the fringes of the team? I understand the annoyance that the GC deal won't come to pass but any value above Pick 30 is good for a player like Howe IMO. If Buckley thinks he can turn him into Smith/Gunston Hybrid of Awesomeness - go for it; he's not suitable back, he struggles to play in front because he likes to jump from behind and that will frustrate whoever is Collingwood's forwards coach. They already hate Elliot doing it - now they have two!
