Unfair on Mahoney. We shouldn't judge him on small stuff like this. If we sign up Hogan long-term soon - does Josh get any credit?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
rpfc replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-10-19/ben-kennedy-highlights Watch this Dees fans and especially those want to get Carlisle - there is an abysmal bit of play where he hits BK late, and then motions to the ump that he dove... Really inspiring from the latest over priced CHB to change clubs... -
Yeah, it was written by someone who works at Collingwood - it didn't make sense, and you read it the way it was written...
-
Unfair just yet... They are getting these deals done to do something else - if it is to get this Parish kid then I admire the focus - outside of the top 15 players on your list and the top 15 picks - the rest is just cannon fodder. WGAF?

Amusturbing. Well, Taylor seems to have a handle so we live in hope... -
Yeah, this is where my head is at. Kennedy is more of a chance to play a role than Toumpas and Melksham can actually play the desired HBF role that Howe cannot. I didn't want them traded out 'just to churn the list' with more draft picks and they haven't - we have got targeted some players and got them.

If Howe went into the draft - Collingwood would pick him up there. Honestly, save the indignation for when we 'collapse' and let good players leave for less value... -

That says more about our past drafting record than Ben... -

Maybe he was talking about Ben Kennedy? -

That is best case scenario really. A great deal of water has to go under that bridge. He has to perform consistently to be near as effective as Kent is on a flank, then Kent has to adapt to being in the midfield well enough not to just abandon it and put him back on the HFF. I have way more faith in Melksham as a role player than Kennedy. -
How about we save the meltdown for when we get fleeced by clubs taking best 18 players?
-
And ND50. Shuffling deckchairs but who cares, unless we are talking getting in a game changer and they rarely change clubs - it's all small potatoes...
-
Well, I am disappointed; that seems a fair deal... Toumpas for Kennedy, and Howe for 29 and 50 is value in my eyes but not compared to what we were going to get from GC. (Sigh) Hopefully they are chips for something bigger...
-
Yes, but in Hogan's Forwardline - you don't need to be a world beater - there is one there already. Any player in there would be role players - I wouldn't go out of my way to spend a top 6 pick on role players... I would try and get the best mid they can get their hands on. Maybe that's what they see with ND3 in that deal with GC.
-
Well, if the team offering silver cannot get him to agree - we won't get silver. He can veto any and all trades, as any player can.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM

We were talking past each other - I think a lot of people would agree with your stance. -
Well, the 'bleeding obvious' has a trade veto and doesn't want to go to GC...
-
Or they needed to get rid of depth players to pay other, more expensive recruits... I would say it is both. I don't think Walker offers more than what we can get out of Dawes/Pedersen/best FF in NEAFL/VFL/SANFL/WAFL.

The burden is your lack of support. At what point can he gain it? When he has served his suspension, paid his fine, or the charges are dismissed? I am honestly asking the question - of those that have a visceral response to this 'cheating' - when do these people become footy players again? -
No, go for it if he is the best talent - just a statement of consistent fact - tall forwards invariably take a few years to be ready for AFL footy.
-
So GC give us two pick upgrades coz we are so nice and polite?

Guilty until proven innocent... Your stance is outrageous compared to the next-level systematic cheating of the system that is seen in other sports like cycling. And if Zaharakis and Kavanagh did not 'get out' - if they thought it was as bad you say it is I am sure they would have gone straight to Demetriou. Zaharakis is known to have something akin to a phobia of needles - that is hardly the motive of a conscientious objector... They will fall to the actions of their club and their own diffidence on their actions - but whatever WADA throws at them I will accept and nothing more and then they will be absolved in the eyes of reasonable people; this has gone on long enough and these blokes have one final judgement of consequence and that is enough for me. But it isn't enough for you? Would you not allow them back into the sport? Essendon can continue but not the players they duped? -
Any kid we get at ND6 who is above 6'4 won't be able to help Hogan for a few years...
-
Why play hard ball on a bloke who is on the fringes of the team? I understand the annoyance that the GC deal won't come to pass but any value above Pick 30 is good for a player like Howe IMO. If Buckley thinks he can turn him into Smith/Gunston Hybrid of Awesomeness - go for it; he's not suitable back, he struggles to play in front because he likes to jump from behind and that will frustrate whoever is Collingwood's forwards coach. They already hate Elliot doing it - now they have two!
