With King and White still on it and Harmes and Vanders coming up off it, we will have RD6 and then Michie will be selected in available with RD24. For those who say - why bother? Just move on if you think he is 'delistable' - what sort of talent do you think would be available at RD24? And you are peddling the same argument as those that asked the same of keeping Jetta around. If those that have eaten their humble pie about Jetta don't see the similarities with Michie's situation then they are suffering from acid reflux...

Those of us saying "I guess we have to suck it up and start winning, playing good footy, and getting people to games" realise that the draw should not care about that - we are just trying to say that reality is something we may want to deal with at some point...

He will be 22 when his OOC with 4 years under his belt. If his next contracts extends that by the mooted 6 years or even if we taking the next 2 into account - he will be 26 and OOC. And he will be a FA, not that it really matters these days. But honestly, would a good club be so constantly worried about him leaving? I know we are not a good club yet, but don't we wish to be?

What a terrible draw from a commercial stand point... Anyway - we take our lot and hope to improve it, and you improve it by getting people to want to watch your team. Hogan being fit, our midfield being more competitive and the team winning some games of footy and we will be a chance to get a decent draw and make some money.

I find it quite ironic that in the thread decrying bickering and insults we have littered it by insulting various posters... They mostly deserve it, but I thought I would point out the irony.

I am a jaded MFC supporter - I don't expect much at all... I applaud the decision - Category B rookies have been an underutilised resource at this club - but it is tough enough to make it coming from elite footy programs, he is coming from another sport.

He is obviously a talent but if we don't think he can build that frame, then we can't pick him. One thing going for him is footy players are going to be required with this new rotations cap of 90 will make it easier for footy players to beat athletes as mids will stay on the ground in forward roles for a rest.

Look, it isn't great to nix contracts with a year to go but a mistake is not fixed by another mistake - if Terlich is not in the 40 players you want on your PL - you should honour the contracts of the other 39 or 38 by going into 2016 with your best list that you can possibly get. Footy is tough and good clubs rarely 'pay players out' but we are coming from a long way back and to only have Evans and Terlich as players we have paid out a year early is a decent effort considering our list a few years ago...

Yeah, if I read that correctly - it is a rare scenario but how about if a Northern state team has ND2 and Carlton (lol) has ND1 and there is a standout player in the draft that should be first picked. Carlton can make this club use ND2 or it can allow it to take a player at ND2 if this Northern state club gave them sufficient reason to not bid on the player. We did a similar thing with Viney a few years ago when we were involved in a ménage a trois with GC and GWS that involved Hogan, Martin and the first 3 picks of the draft and it will lead to a small points win now but will still allow the club to take an extra top player. That would be the only loophole, BUT you have to be crap enough to get a top 3 pick...

Yes, I am just playing around. But your original point is that there were some who didn't want Toumpas but even you had him in that conversation. I remember being emotionally invested in a kid called Ollie who was best mates with Jack, but it didn't happen - the Captains of Hindsight tell me it didn't have to be this way if only the grown ups were in charge but really, this Teenage Lottery Draft of the AFL makes a child of the most notable expert. Toumpas was a terrible draft decision but we didn't reach and make a mistake - we made the 'safe' decision on a talent that isn't suited to footy in 2015 that all the 'experts' thought would be better than what he has shown.

Kind of answered your own question there - I understand this is a shallow draft but Terlich didn't play last year at all as a 25 year old and we had injuries, and we have recruited more players in his role... Now I know this is a shallow draft but surely live pick 39 is worth more than another year of the nothing we got out of Terlich...

Ah, it's good to occasionally be on the right side of Hindsight History... I also would love to point out all those saying - 'Kennedy/Garlett are lost to us with ND13 moving to ND20' blah blah blah. Don't sweat the small stuff. Blue chip picks are hard to come by - you have to either be really bad or very clever...

With Hunt and Harmes resigning. I am not certain with Michie's status, but right now we don't have a spot for ND50 - which will end up being the ~39th live pick.
