  1. From the AFL article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/598967 ... it will be May and Weideman in. Fritsch not right. No Brown for the fact that we cannot handle altering our setup so radically in one game. A really mature decision. I guess M Brown and Petty out.
  2. While I usually love these threads - mainly after a win the opposition supporters didn’t see coming. However, they are right to belittle us - where were most of us at 3 qtr time last week? At different stages of the ‘here we go again’ hand wringing that has defined us and this team for a generation: we do not turn up at a consistent rate at the times good teams turn up. And just take it on the chin is my advice - and when we actually perform in these moments consistently we can push back a bit... Otherwise it’s cringeworthy performative art
  3. I think Hibberd was brought in to get him right for Martin. Play on him and then look for hibberd on the spread. Make dusty work defensively. Thats more of a basketball tactic when you are more assured you can get the ball to the specific player but hibberd is good enough to find the ball.
  4. He’s going well, he’s a jet. But he better start taking those grabs otherwise we are running out of people to drop and our best 22 might say Weed can back up Gawn... But I saw him in the flesh a few weeks ago and he is getting to the right spots now, and the next thing to click are those grabs.
  5. Depends what you’re looking for; a consistent commitment to pressure and structure so we are never out of the game, or a revelation that we are as good as the Tigers and Dogs et al. We will have our extended fade outs - all teams do - even the best. I think we are a top 6 team that is consistent and should be close to a prelim.
  6. I take your point, he was nowhere near Gawn but “complete dominance” is a bit rich.
  7. If we play BB, TMac, SW, and Fritsch forward we will be too tall and won’t be able to keep the ball in like we have. TMac Jas to go to the wing he trained on in the summer to support Hunt and Superstar. If he doesn’t work out there - he might find himself pushed out - that’s footy. He is a tall forward in a top 4 team - he should be getting the ball - it comes in enough; but he is still clanking and not clunking and he is not a natural forward. The other two big boys are.
  8. GFY. That bloke stuck around through 4 rebuilds and when we were a laughing stock he held his head up and lead the club. He doesn’t select the team and if picked he will be a lift to the players that get to play with him on a huge occasion for him and the club. And lastly, players only want to redeem themselves so you saying that he should ‘drop himself’ is betraying your footy knowledge. I expect this from PF so if you want to follow in foot steps, you’re tracking the wrong poster.
  9. That may be but Melksham played his role again today and was part of our brutal last qtr.
  10. Have you played footy before? If he is dropped this week, I reckon that will be that. He deserves to play his 300th on the biggest of stages and redeem himself - there is no ‘drop him and then bring him back a week later’ scenario here; that is just an immature way to select teams. So maybe we will do it...
  11. It’s more that Melbourne supporters think that we should win, and that this now means we will lose badly or lose after being ahead for most of the game, and even if we do win it was not by enough and our percentage is a noose around our chances of ever having happiness.
  12. If Andy did that for Demonland - he would save some money on the server rental...
  13. No, Trac does what he has been doing. He is the most dominant midfielder we have had since <insert historical reference>.
  14. That’s liable. Little birdy told me that... No but seriously, Carlton Draught is awful...
  15. For those who don’t speak Latin... Which is most of us.
  16. I get what you are saying but a complete stranger has earned and deserves the respect not to be called a nickname based on the colour of their skin - whatever the intentions of those that coined the nickname.
  17. Decision making. Taking an extra .25 of a second to calm down and execute a better decision.
  18. @jumbo returns you are the one that threw a haymaker at Daw for no reason in this thread. Honestly, I don’t get it. Throwing out a comment that is only going to get a reaction that then gets an expected reaction from the original poster. Daw is trying to resurrect his career, was cheap, and is being made to earn a game as a back up for Gawn, Jackson, BBB, Weideman. As far as I care about depth - I am glad to have Majak around.
  19. Well done @jnrmac He plays his role as Langdon-lite and his decision making has improved. Kicking doesn’t improve for blokes that have been around footy for so long, only decision making improves. I think there is a role for any useful player in a good side if they stick to their strengths and play their role.
  20. He is playing well, but he is not a star. He is playing his role well, as are the other forwards which his job that much easier. He is a skilful high half forward who has a great footy brain and knows where the goals are. We will live and die in big games with our actual star players building something that can elevate Fritsch and co. I just don’t get this need to talk in these terms with in form players playing their role.
  21. ‘Always been a star’... That is the type of post that you would role your eyes and correct. His value is as a complimentary piece and he is now the beneficiary of a system that is creating opportunities through defensive pressure. I always thought he could be the cream to a cake and the only issue has been the last two years watching him try to, and be asked to, be the cake - a focal point in a forward line without a purpose.
  22. Honestly, some of you blokes don’t get it. What questions do you think the first female pres of the oldest club is going to get? What answers to those questions should she give? Of course she gives a shut about equality - we all should. A bloke would never get that question. And how some on here react? “I hope she cares about winning!1!1!1” And if you are trying to gauge you’re own reaction - look who you have a like from - that should be some insight into inanity.
  23. Goodwin said on 3AW before the game that Brown and Weideman are another week at Casey away from being a chance. Petty in for May. Melksham will be good for the run, and I prefer having some leadership in the forward line.
