MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good. Wood killed us last time with 3.3 and Williams rendered Garlett absolutely useless. Be even better if Tarrant doesn't play. -
This week (and the remaining weeks) is life and death. Gawn must be risked. Not sure if you remember the first encounter against North in round 9, but Goldstein got about 122 hitouts as their midfield ran riot to get the win. I know Goldy may not be playing this week but we need to win the midfield battle regardless of who Norf rucks this week.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19

If North were tanking there's no way known they'd bring back Tarrant, Ziebell and Wood. They would also 'manage' Ben Brown. They'll be playing for the win, but lets hope we're far more motivated and desperate to get the 4 points than they are. -
I'm cancelling my trip to Hobart if that's the outs.
-
Hopefully it's on the minor side of ankle injuries and he can play with a jab on Saturday?

Indeed we were the away side in 06. However my post was that we haven't beaten North as the away team on a Saturday since 1991. yeah I know, I'm being a bit silly with these random useless facts. -

Here's another zinger: Melbourne have beaten North Melbourne as the away side twice since 1991. 1997 and 2006. EDIT - We also beat them in 2005 up in Manuka as the away side. -

We haven't beaten North in an away game on a Saturday since 1991. That day Jako kicked 11.8. I doubt half of the people on this forum were born back then. -
My 3 word player analysis V Pt Adelaide

Actually I don't think it's a hard call. Vince replaces Trengove whom wouldn't have played had Bernie not been a turkey last week. Jones replaces JKH. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18

I'd start T Mac in defence tomorrow on Dixon, with the inclusion of Watts. O Mac and Frost can take Westhoff and Trengove. Best defender on best forward. I don't want things to get out of control like they did V's North when Ben Brown was running amok while T Mac was getting cold up the other end. -
Looking ahead ... the Path to September

Port - L North - W GWS - L St K - W Bris - W Coll -W 13-9 but missing the finals on the basis of Essendon and West Coast taking advantage of their soft runs home. -
Might be a load of rubbish but another poster said the coaching staff were furious with Wagner's defensive game last week. He might be a smokey to miss.
-
Totally get what you're saying but the 4 ins (hopefully) have only missed between 2 and 4 games. Hopefully that's not too much to prevent the players from hitting the ground running on Saturday. Time will tell though.

After 11 years of no September I'd rather play our first final at the MCG rather than Spotless Stadium, but that may just be me. -

Perhaps. i just reckon with Kennedy back they'll have a strong end to the season winning every game except for GWS away. -

My prediction: Adelaide 15-7 GWS 16-4-2 Geelong 16-5-1 Port 15-7 RIchmond 14-8 West Coast 14-8 Sydney 13-9 Essendon 13-9 -------------------- Melbourne 13-9 W Bulldogs 11-11 St Kilda 10-12 Sadly, Essendon and West Coast have very easy draws and overtake us, despite us winning 13 games! -

I think you might be referring to the round 1 game against Brisbane in 2012?? -

But regain Jared Waite, Marley Williams and Mason Wood by the time we play them. The latter 2 killed us the last time we played them. -

The AGE has us finishing 8th with a 12-10 record and playing Richmond (5th) in week 1. They've tipped us to only beat North, Brisbane and Collingwood but yet still make it. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-rules-out-concurrent-games-for-live-teams-in-possible-round-23-finals-logjam-20170717-gxczlu.html -

Is it just me but if we unfortunately miss the finals, would anyone else rather Essendon take our place rather than St Kilda? We've had a nice rivalry with the Saints as to who reaches September first, and it would be nice to get there first. -
Jackson Trengove fined rather than suspended....awesome.....
-
The good news is we don't have another 6 day break for the rest of the year, unless our last game against Collingwood is on a Saturday.
