Crazy things you’ve done as a Demons supporter
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Cassiew's topic in Melbourne Demons
1) while living in Seattle, I set the alarm for 3am to watch a meaningless 2010 NAB Cup game v’s Freo. Alas we lost. 2) attending back to back road trips last year against North in Hobart and then GWS in Canberra. I almost left Manuka at qtr time and back on the road to Melbourne after we conceded 8 goals by qtr time. 3) attending evey game in VIC in the train wreck that was known as 2013. -
Preseason Training Week commencing 19 February 2018

Anyone know what’s wrong with Garlett? He seems to have been in and out of rehab all summer. -
So if we beat North tonight can we all celebrate that the 11 year losing streak is over?

I cannot fathom how Port re-signed him for yet another season, after only playing 2 games last year. He'd have to be one of the slowest players in the league, panics under the slightest bit of pressure and is only proficient at 25 metre passes. He does not have one point of difference that makes him a decent AFL player. How we, or any other club though he was a worthy top 5 selection is staggering.

And didn't he just reek of leadership...

Preseason Training Week commencing 12 February 2018
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Chelly's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. Bugg's best football of the year coincided with the team's best football of the year between rounds 8 and 14, where he managed 16 scoring shots (7.9) over 6 games, as well as being an effective pest. I doubt he'd be in too many people's best 22 around here, but he was in Goodwin's best 22 when we were up and about last year. -

Are we able to use this as a valid excuse if we miss finals? -
Never thought anyone on this forum would be saying this after his first half of last year.

Viney Setback? (Will miss AFLX & JLT, On track for Rd 1)
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought he was on crutches today judging by the above picture, so that's at least something. A fit and firing Viney is obviously key to our chances of making finals. Our record after Viney played that inspiring game vs West Coast (and before injury ruined his season) was 4-5, and 2 of those were very poor wins over Carlton and Brisbane, costing us critical percentage. -

I really do wonder what the implications of missing the finals will be? -
Surely this one would've appeased the masses.

I was in the 2.7% minority that voted for the white jumper. I quite liked wearing a white jumper as a change up, and I happen to think the royal blue is a shocking colour. I don't recall too many supporters were complaining about the white jumper when we smashed the lead leaders at Adelaide Oval, or when Tommy Mac broke a 15 year Subiaco drought with a goal with 5 seconds left , or Jake Melksham kicking a scintillating goal in the dying minutes to pull a game out of the fire against Carlton. The whinging on Demonland was also kept to a minimum when we kicked 13 goals to 6 in the second half against Essendon to score a solid win...in you guessed it....the white jumper. Whilst last year's white clash jumper was not one of our better ones, what was wrong with this one in 2016?

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-01-30/cats-blow-scott-selwood-out-for-two-months I suspect he would've been the number one candidate to take Oliver, so a handy out if he misses.

Beating North is number one on my revenge list. Having a 20 game losing streak against a minnow VIC club such as them is an absolute disgrace. We haven't played finals since beating North in 2006, so it's kind of like our last hurdle/achievement/monkey off bank in our (some what of a) resurgence as a club. If we can't beat North in round 3, at out home ground, with hopefully a full, fit and healthy squad to choose from, then we don't deserve to play finals and probably won't play finals. Also, we've beaten Geelong and Hawthorn a whopping one time each in 12 years. A little bit of retribution is required with those 2 sides I would've thought.

You're right, I forget Frost got the better of Tex in that great win last year. He was in a rich vein of form mid season, before he fell off the cliff.
-
Lever's a good intercept marking 3rd defender that doesn't play on the number 1 gun forward if I recall at Adelaide. He'll hopefully be a great acquisition for our defence. Now who take Hawkins in round 1? He slaughterd both McDonalds in our last meeting and I can't recall Frost ever winning a duel against a premium A Grade forward?

Couldn't agree more. Or at least have the current store at the MCG open on the weekend.
-
Beating North Melbourne in JLT 1 would be an unprecedented experiment.
-
I hope it clashes with Carlton in round 9 and the jumper ends up getting canned. As I mentioned in the other thread, our clash jumper should be essentially the red jumper we used from 2004-2007. Just my 2 cents worth though. I'm glad the majority are happy.
-
Gold Coast didn't have a sponsor's logo on their away jumper this year and they looked like complete amateur hour. I really hope we don't kick off the season in a round 1 blockbuster V's Geelong minus a sponsor on the front of our jumper. Would be such a crap look.

AFLX is coming (the X makes it sound cool)
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Ethan Tremblay's topic in Melbourne Demons
The lid will be well and truly off around here if we manage to get the 4 points... -
There's been more than one media pundit on Maynard's bandwagon.
