The boys on Foxtel’s Midweek Tackle mentioned the following: 1) Fritsch is so close to getting dropped it isn’t funny, but will probably get one last chance. 2) Stunned that we’re now fielding one of the youngest sides in the league.

I think our treatment of Tomlinson has been pretty ordinary post 2021, and he's always the first to be dropped at the drop of a hat. None more so than his MFC career best game against Collingwood in 2023. Even against Sydney in Op Rd, he was far from our worse but got omitted. Not a crime against humanity by the MFC, as every club has an unlucky player, but he's pretty stiff overall and will get dropped for Lever this week IMO. Having said that all that, he'd be a useful chip in a hypothetical mid season trade period. We could trade him to a club short of KP defenders in exchange for their surplus of tall and small forwards or resting rucks.

Sounds about right but Goodwin wasn’t exactly glowing about Kynan Brown’s retention in the side, in today’s presser.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

Without it we would've lost the game, pleasingly and sadly at the same time. -
And yesterday he was training in sandals or berkenshires or whatever you call them. Clearly an issue there but I'm sure he'll be there on Friday.
-
I voted for Curnow as I'm sure he'll need the votes.... Just kidding.
-
To his credit he's a pretty decent set shot. Looks as though we're persisting with the JVR/Petty/Turner 3 pronged attack. That needs to change for next year, and will change.
-
A more than fair outcome. I'd be livid if we were robbed a free by an opponent doing the same thing. I'll be even more livid if a Carlton or Collingwood player does the same this next week and it fails to even crack a mention in the MRO report.
-
Also think Carlton and Collingwood could account for Sydney on GF day, but that's for another thread.

Kynan Brown (8) got 3 less fantasy points than Fritsch (11) on the back of 1 tackle and 1 possession. Clarry got 26 points. Prior to this year he’d get 100 in his sleep. Fair to say there’s some room for improvement with regards to some of our top end players. -

Did McAdam demand selection next week? -
Not for next week but is Jefferson closing in on a debut? 4 goals/8 marks today which would make that his second or third haul of goals for the year. I’d imagine Brisbane will go all out offence and engage in a shoot out, given we can’t score 80 these days, and they can score 100 in their sleep.

When was the last time a club won a game with less than 300 possessions? That’s genuine 1980’s and 1990’s quantity. Usually clubs that’s don’t crack 300 cop a belting. -
As I mentioned in the non MFC thread today, how is it that Brisbane keep drafting and successfully blooding goal kicking forwards, and now have 2 more in Lohmann and Morris that are now established in their best 22.

As much as I’m disappointed with the performance, that’s a very level headed post. North’s last 2 weeks have been streets ahead of ours, and it was pleasing to finally see some set shot accuracy tonight, which ironically won us the game. -

I actually take this as a positive. Means he’s going to go off like a rocket in the coming weeks and kick some bags, if you believe in law of averages. Although Petty’s doing his best to defy that law. -

I thought it was years since we’ve won off the bye, but in 2021 we beat the Dons at the G (25% Covid capacity) and then flogged Brisbane in 2022 by 10 goals at the same venue. Having said that, tonight wasn’t exactly conquering Mt Everest. -

Really good question re: winning team not getting a Brownlow vote? Would take a brave umpire. Our players faded in and out of the game as evidenced by -70 in possessions.

May has an amazing record over Larkey and arguably could get the 6 votes tonight, for keeping him goalless. No other player reeked of BOG.

All we had to was win by 2 goals to cement a place in the 8, but not to be. On the positive we almost went 3 entire quarters without kicking a behind. -
GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

Our first halves have been deplorable this year whereby we average about 32 points. If we’ve got 45-50 on the board at half time then we should get the job done, as North struggle to play 4 quarters and make horrendous errors. -
Oh well if nothing else, we should be in the 8 if we win by at least 2 goals given Port’s percentage has been smashed.
-
Frustrating that Brisbane keep introducing genuine goal kicking forwards such as Lohmann and Morris, where as we’re on absolute struggle street with respect to our forward line. There’s a number of optimistic posters on this forum, and they every right to be optimistic, but I’m a bit concerned that next Friday night is going to be a black night for the club given the opposition and venue we’re facing.
