  1. Any chance we can trade Tomlinson to Collingwood for a future 4th rounder rather than letting him walk as a delisted FA. I'd actually rather keep him as you can never have enough depth and he'll give you a solid 6/10 performance most weeks when he's recalled to the seniors?
  2. 100% spot on with Montagna, but he’d had enough of us by years end, and rightly so.
  3. I don’t see the issue of a token debut in a token game of footy that was round 24. The game was absolute bush league level. We were clearly shooting for a higher draft pick given the high probability that St Kilda and Suns were winning. If we were fair dinkum we wouldn’t have warehoused May and got Lever out of his sick bed. Compare the effort we put in against the Suns compared to the Pies. Therefore what harm would’ve it done giving Sestan or Jeffo a taste?
  4. With the lack of appetite and application we brought into the round 24 game against Collingwood (compared to the prior week) hindsight says we could’ve debuted Sestan and Jefferson for that game to give them a taste of AFL footy against a high quality club.
  5. 20 touches and a goal. Quality not quantity?? Who knows, I doubt many of us saw the game.
  6. Not the latter.
  7. Had a read of the Brisbane Bigfooty forum and the overall vibe about Sharp was positive: Reasonably disappointed to see him go Excellent athletically Was said to be dominant in an early season VFL game over Casey which may have piqued our interest MCG will suit his playing style and Langdon could be a good mentor Disposal iffy (but who hasn't got iffy disposal at the MFC) And some here say comments: Apparently Fullarton and his Dad not are not overly excited about being at the MFC. A certain someone that is no longer on the list will be a positive for the MFC in terms of behavioural and cultural issues. The player was mentioned numerous times on their forum.
  8. Collinwood must have remembered Tomlinson's career best game against them in Kings Bday 2023, the one where he got dropped the following week.
  9. Bring-Back-Powell replied to Supreme_Demon's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
He was appointed as interim CEO of Collingwood at the end of 2022 so he's already had exposure to the role.
  10. SEN just interviewed their footy manager Danny Daly. He confirmed that we've shown heavy interest in Sharp and gave the impression that they won't stand in his way unlike another club I can think of. Fair possibility he'll be with us next year.
  11. Hunter signed a 5 year contract prior to the 2019 season with the Dogs to take him through to the end of 2023. Therefore we either extended his contract by 2 further years when he came across to us at the end of 2022 or his solid 2023 season set off a trigger. As for Sharp, his PB at AFL level is an 18 possession 1 goal game against the Suns earlier this year and he also had a 19 possession 3 goal game in one of the VFL finals just gone.
  12. McClure actually gets a lot wrong. In addition to the Harley Reid drafting stuff up that he muffed, he also came up with this zinger almost a year ago in regards to Opening round 2024: ”Tonight I can reveal exclusively on air that the AFL will be sending Collingwood and Essendon up to Sydney for the inaugural opening round 2024 to play Sydney and GWS”
  13. I’ve never heard of a person more desperate for an AFL trade to happen than Sam McClure wanting Oliver to head to Geelong. It’s as if he wants Clarry to go to Geelong more than Clarry himself.
  14. Re the easier fixture: If we had Fremantle's 2024 fixture who finished 14th in 2023, we'd play the following teams twice in 2025 based on 2024 rankings: GWS, Hawthorn, Carlton, Collingwood, Gold Coast and Richmond. Is that really that much easier on paper?
  15. In an ideal world, Jeffo comes into our forward line and produces, and then Petty returns to defence. Whether he's ready for a JVR type 2023 season is the question?
  16. The forward line is yours Shane for the first 3 weeks (provided you can get thorough pre season)
  17. A win over St Kilda on Sunday and we’re back in the finals hunt.
  18. I’d avoid the “late trade” if you get defensive about the media laying into us Barrett and Jenkins absolutely can’t stand us.
  19. If Richmond think we're a genuine bottom 4 side next year they might go for it. I don't think the club were all that desperate to win the game given the draft order at stake, compared to the relative hunger that Collingwood showed. ANB squibbed a contest early (at least by his high standards) and I thought that set the tone for the rest of the evening. GC certainly made it interesting by not thrashing Richmond as they were close to finishing below us on percentage.
  20. That would be disappointing. Trac's at his best as a mid, and we're at our best when he's in the midfield. If Trac was going to kick 5 every week per the Carlton game, I'd be all for it, but that's not going to happen.
  21. Barrett's an unequivocal North supporter. He puts a ton of [censored] on them, but he is a North supporter.
  22. 27 goals in the first half of the year. 14 goals in the second half of they year. Six of those coming in two of our rare second half wins. Definitely a proven correlation between us winning and Fritta hitting the scoreboard, bar the odd exception eg - 4 goals in the Sydney loss. Conversely 0 goals in wins over North and Dogs. If we're to bounce back next year, Fritta needs to hit the scoreboard again as our forward line gels better when he's far more involved as that lead up forward that is hard to match up on. Think about his dominance of Sicily in round 2. For that to happen, do we play a smaller forward line and remove one of Turner or Petty from the forward line? I felt as though once we settled on the JVR/Petty/Turner trio from mid season onwards, Fritta's output reduced significantly to the point where he was chasing kicks on the wing in the final game and looked a bit disinterested to be honest. Thoughts on how to best utilise Fritsch and our overall forward line structure next year?
  23. Pies will definitely be giving up more than just John Noble for pick 13. Not a chance a turnover merchant in Noble is valued at pick 13 alone.
  24. Definitely a player that has improved year on year since 2020, and is in career best form. Disappointing, but every club loses a best 22 player here and there. GWS have been smashed with Perryman, Cumming and possibly Peatling.
