  1. The weird thing about Stevenson is that when he was drafted the overwhelming theme was that Collingwood was getting a player with outstanding character.
  2. I’ve convinced myself we’ll be playing Geelong.
  3. Melbourne V Geelong - Friday 17 September. 8:10pm EST. Optus Stadium. No change.
  4. I also thought Matt Jones was integral in our 2013 campaign to try and get a 3 win season. I think this is the best team I’ve seen since 1990 but it will be so Geelong to knock us out in the prelim.
  5. I stand to be corrected but all I saw all night was Cameron kicking goals on Smith and Smith giving away free kicks to Cameron. I have no issue if Smith gets another game as he’s a good intercept marker and has terrific pace for his size. But he was pantsed tonight IMO.
  6. Smith might be in trouble given his opponent kicked 5 on him. Who plays on Toby Greene if GWS get through to the prelim?
  7. At this stage the grand final is at the MCG. (why they haven’t yet conceded it is just insulting to the public)
  8. I want to shake the persons hand that traded Watts for the pick we ended up using for Fritsch.
  9. It’s our only visible weakness that I can see.
  10. I think he’ll get away with a fine but the club must surely have had a gut full of his antics.
  11. Does a high scoring shoot out suit us? Cameron kicking 3 in a qtr certainly doesn’t.
  12. Crowd has probably exceeded my expectations. 7,000 ish???
  13. Fair to say Sydney threw that final in the bin. 7 behinds in the last qtr!!.
  14. Yeah, so Heeney’s pretty good at footy.
  15. If we play GWS in the prelim, I hope it’s Mumford’s RDO as Gawn does not play well against him.
  16. Will be a fine but he’s lucky it’s not 2003 as he’d get an automatic week for making umpire contact. It was terrible look.
  17. I still reckon Geelong will bounce back next week and beat GWS.
  18. Who wants to play Toby Greene in a prelim?
  19. The 2000 qualifying final was my favourite win. It was supposed to be all about Essendon and Carlton that year and we flipped the script. Will never forget the Bruce and Yze snap goals late in the game . The jubilation that day at the G by the Dees supporters was amazing. This is going to sound silly but I got as much jubilation beating Geelong in Geelong in 2005 and 2015 as I did last week. Any win down there is to be savoured and the trip back to Melbourne is extremely satisfying.
  20. Exactly. They were given the world last year with 2 home finals while most other sides were hubbing, and they somehow blew it.
  21. Sounds like WA will be fine and the story was a bit overblown. The truckies only visited 1 spot and the contacts are also now in isolation. No doubt the GF plans will forge ahead.
  22. I think we’ll win and win well. This group is well and truly ready for finals footy IMO.
  23. Further to your post, our final should be at the MCG tonight. Gary Pert formally requested our week 1 final be at the MCG but the AFL caved into Gerard Whaetley who took personal offence that a final be played behind closed doors. I agree with your post. We’ve been given absolutely zilch advantage as the AFL sought a 5,000 Adelaide Oval crowd at the expense of the minor premier’s home ground advantage, and then have given Port a massive leg up by giving them a home prelim. I still think we’ll overcome the adversities and win the flag.
  24. Be a colossal stuff up by Port if they somehow didn’t make the GF for here.
  25. I reckon he planted the seed of doubt in his players by sooking for shortened quarters all year.
