Is is it possible we and the media overrated his performance against Collingwood? At the time it appeared as though it was one of the stiffest omissions of recent memory. Maybe the coaches weren't satisfied with his performance and didn't have the confidence to continue with him irrespective of Petty who was injured at the time. He'd slot in really well at North as one of their key defender if he's got the stomach to digest a 3 to 5 win season.

The only time this thread lost the plot was on the 1st day of July when posters actually wanted the Dogs to beat Freo which therefore had them equal on points on us in the pursuit of top 4. Top 4 > a couple of draft picks higher up the board. I wonder if posters will be cheering Brisbane and Port to beat Freo if top 2 is still a live chance for us?

Brilliant idea for what's currently a dormant weekend of footy. The pre finals bye is a joke. Friday night - 8 v 9 Saturday night - 7 v 10. Two exciting clashes. What more do you want. Plus it gives clubs more of an incentive to finish top 6. Sixth position will essentially be the new 8th. Absolutely in favour of this idea. And I think it will happen.

Bring it on if it means there's football during the week between round 23 and week 1 finals. The pre finals bye (and the pre season bye before round 1) is the worst part of the AFL calendar.

The only risk of finishing 3rd and playing Port away is the possibility of facing Brisbane at the GABBA in the prelim if we lose week 1 and Brisbane beat Collingwood at the G week 1. That would be the major booby prize in terms of travelling, which we've been average in this year.

If we play Port in week 1 at AO, how many tickets will be allocated to MFC members? And I suspect it would be on a Saturday twilight or night as I would imagine that the other 3 finals would be at the MCG (due to a lack of interstate teams featuring in the top 6) and would need to be Thu night, Fri night and Saturday.

Perfect selection. Particularly with a tallish fwd line of Tex, Tilthorpe and Fogarty. Tomlinson gels well with May and Lever and we’re undefeated when those 3 play together in the same side round 1 2021. More than happy with Smith as sub. If Chandler has a good praccy game then I’d consider him for Spargo, who’s simply not having a good season.

Agreed. A gut punching Sunday 6pm loss is about as mediocre as it gets in the weekly cycle of a footy tragic...

1) We got 37K to last years mid season Thursday night game between the two sides. Anything under 40K for a Friday night game would be disappointing. 2) Port have a number of outs this week, turning a probable win into a conceivable loss to Carlton. That might be the loss that costs them top spot given they have an inferior percentage to Collingwood.

The good news is that Kozzie could not have possibly played a worse career game than last week, so that can only be a positive in terms of our scoring avenues.

Yeah I get where you’re coming from. I think this thread went off the rails when people wanted the Bulldogs to beat Freo two weeks ago despite Bulldogs being in direct competition with Melbourne for a top 4 spot at the time. Luckily it’s all seemed to be working out as the Dogs are falling off the pace and Freo find themselves in the bottom 4!
