  1. I'm going to give Jackson the benefit of the doubt and assume that he informed the club before the final series. The negotiations to get Grundy in would've surely taken weeks and possibly months, and Jackson's departure would've been the catalyst. Can't imagine we rung up Grundy last Monday and asked him if he'd like to play for the MFC.
  2. Dermott Bereton on Fox's AFL trade day succinctly summed up (in about 55 minutes) that McCrae doesn't put a high premium on good ruckman as did his coach Leigh Matthews, as did Leigh's coach Alan Jeans.
  3. We got lucky. Nothing more than that. The stadium couldn't host AFL in the early rounds of 2017, and we were scheduled to play them in round 3. Still a bit dirty we lost that game. We couldn't hit the side of a barn (13.20) and they couldn't (20.6)
  4. We would entertain this as we've already lost Weideman and Mitch Brown off the forward/second ruck depth chart. Remember against Adelaide, we had to bring these two blokes in as Gawn, Jackson and T Mac were all unavailable. If Weid goes out and Schache does not come in, you would think we'll be looking hard at the delisted free agency or state league pools to replace Weid and M Brown.
  5. Just a passing comment from Julian De Stoop in reference to Sam Edmund’s news that we’re looking at Schache.
  6. The J Shack to Melbourne gaining a bit of traction today according to SEN this morning.
  7. I’m sure we’ll end up getting Grundy but what happens if we don’t? Who on the list will be our first ruck if Gawn misses games? Who will be that player to allow Gawn to be fresh and injury free come September?
  8. I don’t think we have any option but to give Collingwood what ever they’re asking for (within reason) - if we’re in a hurry to get rid of Weid. Imagine Gawn come next finals series if he’s shouldered 98% of the ruck for the entire home and away season with literally no viable back up. Grundy will surely be a Demon next year.
  9. I don’t mind the trade. Not perfect but something to work with. Two first rounders and a second rounder is unprecedented for a player that has just come off a poor season, and to not have to give up a second rounder. Sure, if he had a great season we should be getting a top 10 pick but the point is he didn’t and potential is a dirty word. Luke Jackson is potential at this stage. Here’s to a productive Tuesday and Wednesday by the club.
  10. Hunter won a B&F for the Dogs so he must have something going for him.
  11. Unless Gawn and Grundy are playing 44 (46 if magic round comes in) games between them, then who’s going to be the back up ruck if one of the two misses a game? Combine that with BBb and T Mac’s issues and I would’ve thought there would be plenty of opportunities available next year for Weid.
  12. Are the Dogs depleted with injury or is there just a massive gulf in talent between the two clubs?
  13. Excellent video. Strange that we tried to develop him into a lock down defender to play on the Tom Papley’s of the league when he was more than a capable goal kicker and one of the most accurate set shots at the club.
  14. He signed a 4 year deal with the Dogs at the end of 2019 after crossing from St Kilda.
  15. I’m guessing you haven’t read a game day or post match thread this year. Or Demonland or Facebook MFC forums in general. BBB has been bagged all year up to this point by various posters. So have other immortals such as the likes of ANB, Spargo, Lever, Jackson and Harmes.
  16. BBB has a degenerative knee that’s only going to get worse not better, as reported by the media. Wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls the pin at the end of next year, a year short of his 4 year deal. I had a laugh at your second point.
  17. 6 hours later and has this question actually been addressed?
  18. Started the season like a house on fire and was the talk of the league in our win over GC at Carrara in round 2. Then went onto to have a say-so year with only the two Brisbane H&A games being genuinely good performances. At this stage I see him as a player that does some good things within games rather than actually playing good games overall if that makes sense. His 13th place finish in the B&F is a good reflection of his season. I can’t fathom how a fit 2023 Grundy isn’t an upgrade to a 2022 average Jackson, and that will surely help our chances of winning a final or 2 next year.
  19. Yes, the same Josh Bruce who was coming off a knee reco and came back too early. He may end up being a direct VFL replacement for M Brown or he could have a massive bounce back year after a strong pre season. I’m keeping open minded and we need to address our forward line.
  20. Is this the same Josh Bruce that kicked 48 goals in 20 games in 2021, including bags of 10 and 5? Compare that to everyone’s beloved Ben Brown who kicked 30 in 19 games this year. Think of what a player can do rather than what they can’t.
  21. Future 3rd rounder was being discussed on trade radio.
  22. Wow your memory is on point. Round 1 1983 in front of 72,000. We lost a high scoring affair 135-125 with some bloke from Collingwood called Mark Weideman kicking 5 Frankfurts. Moore only took 1 mark and 11 touches. Demonland was feral that night.
  23. Anyone who can manage 31 kicks in a game of footy (round 4 2021 V Carlton) must have some appeal I guess.
  24. Herald Sun the other day suggested or indicated a round 1 Collingwood V Melbourne in recognition of this trade. Would be Collingwood’s home game.
