PREGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Reckon Joel Smith will continue to improve and show us all that he might just be an important part of our forward line in the games towards September. We focussed on BBB, Tmac, Petty and Gawndy for the first half of the season, and Smith is hardly a gorilla forward, but last week he presented well, got up the ground and was a good target. Hope he finally takes his chance and locks down a regular spot. Go get em, Smithy!

- Admission of Tanking?
Given the AFL stuck their head in the sand over the Hawthorn racism accusations, there is a bazillion x zero chance they will get involved in another tanking drama. Their core business is to promote the game at all costs, regardless of right or wrong- Byron
Was he ever a used car salesman as well?- 2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
If we keep and use our 2 x 1sts and 2 x 2nds, and if we take K Brown with a later pick, I'd say that's more than enough for this draft. Usually clubs in the window don't turn over too many on the list in one go. I believe there's also one or two in our academy that could go late Taylor and Lamb might shop around our picks to move up. And Freo could realistically deliver us pick 4, especially with their terrible %. Will certainly be an interesting couple of weeks, that's for sure!- Dees Potential Draft Play to Secure Pick #1
Mentioned this in another thread, but WCE could consider what North did last year, and doing that with North this year. Swap pick 1 for 2, 19 and Norths future 1st. North back themselves to improve next year Reid alongside Cheezle and the Warlord, with their other up-and-coming mids would not be dissimilar to us 7 or 8 years ago with Clarry, Trac, Viney etc WCE perhaps get Duursma, one of the local WA boys and a high pick in 2024 Win/win???- 2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Is this a draft thread or a private school reunion? 🤔 I'd like to see WCE do a reverse of 2022 draft. Swap 1 to Norf for 2, 19 and Norf's future 1st- Mason Cox post game altercation
And Trac apparently apologised to Cox later, so maybe, just maybe he shot his mouth off to Cox in the thrill of a close finish. As I said, none of us know what really went on- Mason Cox post game altercation
Broad sweeping statement Cox is arrogant because he's arrogant, not because he's American. Plenty of arrogant AFL players, very few are American. Maybe its us Aussies who are arrogant! Cox has played 100 games in a tough sport that he did not grow up with. He's a good sportsman None of us really know the detail behind their heated conversation- 2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Isn't McKay from North a RFA? He'd be a nice get (for no loss of picks), wonder if we've had a word with his or HH's managers Would like our 1st pick used, then trade our other first rounder with Freo's 2nd to move up so that we don't need to use them on K Brown, assuming he's seen in the top 30. Will be v interesting to see what JT and Lamby can do with what we have- PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I recall a few years ago one of our players talking about how they all constantly manage blisters on their feet. Some of the mids have numerous blisters most of the season, such is the amount of running they do. I would suggest Clarry gets enough of the ball to have blisters covering his hands!- Kings Birthday Sold Out
Had you showered during the previous week, Rab? Might explain things, just saying... 😄- Tackling
Agreed. I think I heard Razer on SEN (yeah, I know...) say that there were about 5 or 6 different outcome interpretations from a tackle, all decided within a fraction of a second. Duck head, drop knees, shrug shoulder, ball knocked out, no prior, two steps before tackle, fend off, side step, and so on I think I remember the Spargo forward pocket too high free on Friday was paid by the umpire in the centre of the ground, the other 3 field umpires were closer than him! Having four umps seems to make it more confusing- JvR is the Round 12 Rising Star …
No rage on my part mate, clearly you're angry that someone has a football view different from yours. There was no name calling or hissy fitting in what I wrote, anyway The difference is my post on JVRs game played the ball, but you appear to be more interested in name calling and playing the man Have a great evening! Cheers- Tackling
Not to win a game, more so for arguable frees to not decide a game. I hate seeing high contact frees for ducks, dropping knees, lifting the wing, plowing through packs head first, tilting the head back in exaggeration. Happens every week, we do it too. Especially prevalent by small forwards looking for a cheap goal. Somehow they've got to create a disincentive to play for high frees. Some guy is going to end up in hospital after stupidly ducking his head. It's a tough enough game to umpire as it is. While we are at it, wtf is it with the pushing out in a marking contest??? It's not holding ground, it's pushing an opponent out of the contest ffs! Tell clubs it's not on and pay the free, it will be gone in two weeks. And player blocks in a marking contest are almost as annoying. Max got about 70 blocks on Fri night! Rant over- Kings Birthday Sold Out
