Hope you kept the Duffel Coat. You will need it next year.

2025 Prediction
If we have sorted out our forward line functionality and play with a more attacking mindset we will be top 6 and will go deep into September. If it’s more of the same gamestyle wise I think we will finish outside the top 8.

He’s not wearing gum boots so I don’t think he’s off to Geelong yet. Best wishes to Gus…. He deserves it.

"We aren't great at any phase of the game"
Interesting article and thanks for posting. Illustrates and highlights to me our method of ball movement and most importantly set up ahead of the ball. Great effort by Sydney who play every second week on small ground and still find space to work in. We play on the biggest ground in the league and mange to find nothing but congestion. Sydney to me have have much better ball users and I have always thought that we would have been better served by moving the ball quicker to an open forward line kicking to the advantage side of our forwards. Even a chaos ball would suit us more than slow and precise ball movement as it hasn’t suited our skill set. Having said that we have drafted better users of the ball which will help us going forward.

"We aren't great at any phase of the game"
Each to their own on the slow and methodical. I will admit it worked for us in the game against Geelong in the wet which surprised me as I personally don’t think slow and methodical suits us as we don’t have enough elite kicks in the team. We are starting to draft a few which is great going forward. I think with faster ball movement, changing the angles and better structure ahead of the ball we will see some success. I get the feeling we will see this in 2025 and I am excited to see it.

"We aren't great at any phase of the game"
I take it as contest, defence and offence which are the “3 phases of the game” that Goodwin often refers to. I am glad he has said we aren’t great in any areas and he is right, fact is we have gone backwards. I think this club review could be the best thing that has happened to the club and may help save Goodwin from himself. Our game plan and style especially our ball movement was slow, boring and borderline unwatchable at times this year. The lack of solution to the mid to forward connection and functionality of our forwardline over the last few years has held us back. Granted we have had some personnel issues but I am firmly of the belief that our issues were more around method because I still think we had enough talent on our list to be better. A few home truths have clearly been told during the reviews and I am incredibly buoyed by the off season moves made so far. I love the move of Chaplin to forwards and also the addition of Bassett and Jones to the coaching group. I think that we have drafted incredibly well with the quality of players and the areas we have drafted for. I am loving the training reports from the Demonland regular track watchers for which I am grateful for that say in match simulation there is a focus on quick ball movement, honouring the switch of play, kicking to advantage of the forwards who are working on their leading and running patterns. Love the addition of Campbell that knows his role is purely as a back up to the Goat in Gawn. It appears that our players are having more clarity around their roles and hopefully we get back to being a more selfless team. We have been too defensively minded and conservative, I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water but if we can put more emphasis and focus on putting the ball through the big sticks then defence will take care of itself. I thank Brad Green and Darren Shand for the review because it is the kick in the [censored] that we needed. I have confidence that we will see change and I think we will do some serious damage in September next year because of it.

Training Ground?
Might need to change your user name to yellow leg if that’s the case

Training Ground?
Thanks WJ, was unaware they have moved from the “Bear Cave”. Genuinely sad that is the case considering the connection to that ground and history with the Caulfield VFL team back in the day.

Training Ground?
Used by Caulfield Bears who play in Southern FNL. I think Caulfield Park could be a good solution for Caulfield Grammarians to relocate to but you would have to sweeten the deal for them. Not sure that they would want to relocate but I guess everybody has a price.

Training Ground?
In light of the recent sad happenings in Melbourne I am not sure that Mt. Scopus would be keen on shared facilities. One solution is that they take over Glenhuntly Oval which is currently being used by Caulfield Grammarians in the ammo’s which would give any Scopus its own exclusive facility. Council would then need to find a home for Caulfield Grammarians which could possibly be a facility swap with Ajax with some sweeteners involved.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 2nd December 2024
Thanks to all reports from the track watchers. It was music to my ears that Chaplin wants constant movement and is working on running patterns and blocks to create separation for our leading forwards as well as smalls getting front and square. Great to see defined roles for our forwards as we have always had the talent down there we were just dis functional. The missing piece of the puzzle is speed of ball movement and holding some forwards in our forward line not pushing so far up the ground. This will also assist with speed of ball movement as we will have a target to kick to. Really happy with our off season moves and drafting / trading. Bring on 2025.

PRESEASON TRAINING & COMMUNITY CAMP
- Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
Saw Tairon on Sunday at Stingrays testing day at Seaford. He has a younger brother Corey that is going to be bigger than Tairon. Both big boys but at this stage are gentle giants. Coaches want them to assert themselves a bit more physically.- Welcome to Demonland: Aidan Johnson
Love the highlights packages available especially the Werribee FC Halloween one. Welcome to the Demons Aiden. To quote the Cruel Sea.” Better get yourself a lawyer son, better get yourself a real good one.” Aiden “The Rock” Johnson with the “people’s elbow”. Bring on season 2025. Give em Hell !!!!- Welcome to Demonland: Xavier Lindsay

This will be confirmed if we do a pre game Hakka in round 1.- PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 15th November 2024
Can you please ask him if he thinks Clarrie is lost. Geelong is an hour south west of Gosch’s.- The Kalani White Thread
But apparently NGA’s in the non northern states are not open to members of the Samoan community. Eg Ah Mu- 2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Thanks for posting. Interesting read. A couple of Anglo Saxon sounding names in the Hawthorn and St.Kilda Next Gen Academy, yet we are ineligible to take Tairon Ah- mu as an academy prospect. Hope we challenge it.- 2024 Phantom Drafts
I am on the record as saying we need to bolster our midfield stocks, however I would like balance with our picks. Happy to take a bull with one pick but we desperately need a bit of speed and silk. I still stand by that, however I am not calling out the names. Given the connection could JT go Langford 5 and Hynes at 9? Both interchange with each other at Stingrays. Both seem to be JT type players. Have the flexibility of playing mid and forward and both only 4 and 5 centimetres shorter than Armstrong with better hands and physicality. Both also know where the goals are and are leaders with good character. Cooper injured his ankle towards the end of the season, nothing too serious though. No indication given where we would take him. A good question but in a very even and deep draft I don’t think 9 is unreasonable and being runner up in the Morrish medal supports that. I just didn’t think he was getting enough respect. Murphy Reid is another one that I personally feel is not getting enough respect.- 2024 Phantom Drafts
Not getting enough respect in my opinion. Runner up in the Morrish medal behind Lindsay. Club co-captain. Best mates with Langford, could JT pull the trigger. Have met him a few times as he is from down my way and is going out with a girl I coach. A good size and frame also a real grounded, level headed kid. Yes we have spoken to him several times.- Results of Club Reviews
It’s only early days but FWIW I think Brad Green is doing a fantastic job. Certainly getting on the front foot, great communication and there seems to be a plan. Finally actions and not just words from the club. I feel confident we can turn things around quite quickly and it will translate to on field success.- The Harry Armstrong Thread
So essentially no traits that demand “must pick “ in the top 10. If we pick him with 5 or 9 I expect a meltdown on Demonland that would make Lidia Thorpe blush. - Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent
