Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
This gets me so fired up. Lets go Mooooose. Also long shot but by the end of the trade period we may have the Bison, Bear and Moose in the same team.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Sad to lose a Dees legend but if we can somehow turn this into a Leek Aleer that could be the best out of a bad situation. I know we have some great tall defender stocks in Disco, Petty and Lever. However, like others have mentioned, Adams is not yet a proven AFL footballer, Lever has recently been injury prone and its likely is Tmac last year and definitely is May's. Adams may well be our man but I don't see how added competition for spots can ever be a bad thing. In saying that, it is more likely we receive a pick back depending on how much of Clarry's contract we are willing to pay.

Farewell Christian Petracca
This. We will soon find out what our new Dees leaders are made of. Are we firm and resolute in our position or are we the same old timid club that accepts mediocrity.

Training Ground?
Agree that a player's perspective would be important in the facilities design but then Waverley would be an interesting first location for such research given the many other superior facilities. You may be right though and this is one of many facilities that the Dees crew visit or at least the first which is public knowledge. I was just speculating but of course time will tell.

Training Ground?
Agree. You don't send the incoming president, CEO and vice captain to Waverley as part of the 'design process' for Caulfield. It just doesn't make much sense given the unique residential layout/build of Waverley. I think (and am hoping) that they considering Waverley as a temporary home while Caulfield progress over the next 3-5 years. These things always take longer than anticipated so it would be a smart move if it is financially viable to execute without jeopardising Caufield.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Agree, 'adapt to how I want the game played' tells me he is a serious operator who will demand the respect of the players. If players aren't committed or can't adjust to his game plan, they are asked to explore their options. I've liked his few appearances in the media so far, clear and direct much like Chris Scott.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Don't understand some of the criticism on King continuing his role with Geelong for the remainder of their finals campaign. Firstly, as GW has mentioned, it is a sign of good character that he isn't jumping ship without regard for his current employer. But I think more importantly, he is gaining even more valuable finals coaching experience which will assist him as senior coach at the Dees. In fact, despite my disdain for them, I now hope that Geelong go the whole way and win it all. This is experience that can only help us as we will have coach who knows exactly what it takes to get to and win on the big stage. King could be fresh off a flag at the most successful and well-run club of the last 20 years and bring those standards, systems and composure to us - which we desperately need.

TRAINING: Friday 16th May 2025
Any idea if Rivers trained with the mids or stayed with the backs? He had a little over 50% CBAs against the Hawks

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Fritta very lucky - last chance to impact the scoreboard or back to the magoos (if Goody has any selection integrity)

2024 All Australian Squad
I definitely agree that Gawn AA fatigue may play a factor. I think Xerri has had a phenomenal year and has to be on the interchange. However, if the AA panel is completely objective, I think they have to pick Gawn on field. I think people are sick of Gawn dominating for so long and want someone new which is ridiculous reasoning but it wouldn't be surprised me if they overlook him this year. Hope I am wrong though. Gawn's 7th AA jacket would solidify him as the greatest ruckman of the modern era for me (I already think he is but another jacket puts him above Cox for sure). If I am being completely honest I think he is the greatest ruckman of all time but that may be my demon goggles and recency bias since I can't speak to a lot of the guns from back in the day.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
We have to take this pick to the draft and pick up a quality midfielder who can play in the red & blue for the next 10 years. While I rate Houston and some of the other potential trade targets, none of them are more valuable than this pick. Praying Alan Richardson goes back on his earlier comment about trading our pick for older players. Our list management has been good in the past, got to back them in to pick a future gun.

Draft Capital
Hoping Saints can get the job done against the Blues. Coming away with pick 5 (before NGA and father sons) would be a good result in a disappointing season.

How Many Weeks For Kozzy?
3 weeks is ridiculous. Has to be appealed.

@WalkingCivilWar Best post ever, made my day - you really know how to tell a story.

Christian Petracca
I can understand Trac's frustrations with the club but his continued silence is honestly so disappointing (especially after a good team performance today). I saw him as a lock for future captain of our club but these are not good signs even if he does decide to stay. In saying that, I'm sure my mind will probably change once and if this all gets cleared up

James Peatling
He is in my Supercoach draft team, so have been watching him closely over last few weeks. The kid can play when he gets a full game (been a sub for many games). Great clearance player, tackling machine and is very quick. Still a bit lanky but will continue to put on size with more preseasons. Out of all the trade targets we have had thus far (other than Houston), he is the one I’m most keen on - would be a huge addition to our midfield (for now and the future).
-
Christian Petracca
Dee-pressed. I've always felt that he wants to play in a 'big' club atmosphere ever since he said he wanted our crowd to lift (fair comment). Trade rumour still shocked me obviously - him going to the pies has always been my worst nightmare. I have faith though, he is disgruntled (just like all of us) but will stick fat. Praying he comes out with a statement dismissing it soon before media plasters it everywhere.

Tom Fullarton - back up ruck?
I can see the logic but despite their loss this weekend, Freo are much better side than the bombers. Their midfield (Serong, Brayshaw, Young) is up there with the best in the league when they are firing. The Darcy/Jackson ruck duo is a real threat and I think we lose if they are left to dominate. I agree that Fullarton is not a genuine ruck and JVR would probably win more hitouts, but I think we'll need him forward in this game. I feel more comfortable with trialling Fullarton than having Petty ruck most the game. Max will hopefully be back next week so it gives him one good opportunity to show something on the big stage.
-
PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
Petty was serviceable in the ruck after the first quarter but JVR was the one who actually neutralised the ruck contest. The Petty/JVR combo did the job against a weaker ruckman in Draper but I can't see it working against the best ruckduo in the comp in Darcy/Jackson. We will need JVR in the forward line given Freo's strong defence plus I don't love that we are risking him in the ruck. From what I saw last night, I think we have to bring Fullerton in and just see how he goes. I don't think Petty will be dropped so he probably goes forward again (not ideal). I'd like him sent back to defence but Tmac, Lever, May working way too well to change that.
