Absolutely! He not only hits a crazy amount of targets by foot, he hits them regularly in positions that 90% of other players wouldn’t even attempt to make. When he’s on half back, if there’s anyone close to free floating around high CHF, he’ll find them, then that player turns around and has multiple leading options coming to him or there’ll be a playing running past that takes a shot from 50. All happens so fast. Feels like a no brainer to try and take away that ability for the pies.

100%. With us he was on icing on top player, with them, he'll be expected to be a dominant player which right now, he isn't capable of. I hope for Jacksons sake he thrives under pressure because he's going to have to. Could quickly become a whipping boy if he doesn't progress fast enough.

I really like Ed Richards for the dogs. In a very average back line, he goes hard for 4 quarters, seems like he wins a lot more 1v1's than he loses, has good evasive skills and is a pretty good kick.

Maxy gave him an absolute earful when he was on the ground (I can't remember exactly what Baker did). Not sure if they personally don't like each other or what but I've never seen Maxy look that [censored] off/aggressive towards another player. Was genuinely not happy about something.

Yeah he played well! I remember watching him in the practice matches miss a couple that were very gettable. He gets enough of the ball so if he can tighten up his set shots and out through the easier ones, he's capable of getting a couple every week.

100%. He’s quick and doesn’t seem to have a problem getting the ball, just got to finish off his good work.

I’m pretty sure Rioli only kicked 40+ a couple times in his whole career

Some great signs. Defence was rock-solid. Tomlinson was fantastic. Had my worries about May being out but that proved to be unfounded. Tommo deserves high praise. Maxy, best ruckman of my lifetime hands down. I’ve never seen another ruckman cause as much damage, as consistently, as he does. So adding Grundy on top of that is absurd. Couldn’t ask anymore than a 50 point win!!!

Grundy!!!!!!!!

Great work Chandler!

Whoah, that’s the most aggressive I’ve seen Maxy. Must not like Baker too much.

I can’t imagine after the week of lawsuits happening that the AFL hasn’t had a word to the MRP to be harsher on hits like this. I’d be shocked if he didn’t get a week.

NAUGHTON PUSH IN THE BACK???????

I think it’s going to be one of those rule adjustments with frustratingly unintended consequences…

Looks like if it’s any ducking at al that results over the shoulders contact it’s not a free.

Collingwood is the only team where I look at their best and I doubt if our best can beat them. They have a belief that they can win from any position, their speed and pressure is overwhelming when they’re on. They can turn the momentum of a game on a dime. Really, really hope I’m wrong obviously.

Doesn't deserve a thread of it's own, but I'm watching the post game press conference and I can't help but ask: Any chance in 2023 we can get some room microphones to be able to actually hear the journalists questions?

Did Jack Riewoldt just say on national tv that ‘we’re all flat as shark sh…it?’ Definitely accurate Jack.
-
Well that was an annoying game with an infuriating finish.
-
Just get rid of hands in the back altogether. Make players use their bodies. The amount of times the benefit of the doubt is given from the player behind that clearly is pushing with their hands is infuriating. Hawkins does it all the time

He could still explode this year but I’ve always felt Curnow is very inconsistent. He has the potential to dominate but it feels like he goes missing for 2 games at a time then explodes and kicks 5. If it’s not ‘his day’, he’s a middle of the road forward. As much as I hate to say, when Hawkins has a terrible day, he’ll still be involved in at least 2-3 goals.
