  1. If it was a fair dinkum game I’d actually be interested. Won’t be anything more than an exhibition game so meh I’d like to see the All-Australian team play the 2nd AA team as that would be fun. Again though, wouldn’t be fair dinkum.
  2. Yup. Incentivises teams to have to cover more ground with less time to do so. If you get caught out with a 3 V 1 at a ball up for example, bad luck. The umpires shouldn’t be waiting for players IMO.
  3. Mmmmm nah I’m not about it. I’d rather see umpires throwing the ball back in quicker at throw ins and bounces. If a ruck isn’t there, too bad. I see that as stretching the field out as you HAVE TO have players get to the ball faster. No nominating rucks, 1 player from each team goes up, free kick if more than 1 goes up. Creates a bit more chaos and will probably force coaches to change their game plans a bit.
  4. Yeah true, I guess the developing countries example was what I was thinking so thank you. IPL is completely transparent and like you said, NBA contracts for example are basically front page news. I’ve always found it a bit weird that AFL player salaries aren’t so open. I could still be missing something, but I don’t see any downside on its face to not show it. Unless…. It raises questions about how players are making the purchases that they make. That’s something that I can see being a reason to not show their salaries but this is pure speculation on my behalf.
  5. Why are these based on estimations? Or rather, shouldn’t all clubs that are dependant on members paying money to survive, show where their money is going? I’m genuinely asking, are there any downsides to clubs showing exactly what their coaches/players are being paid? Are there any downsides to being completely transparent in terms of player salaries?
  6. To be fair, when I get speeding fines, I’ve never had speeding in mind, so did I ever REALLY speed?
  7. These two statements work very well together. Gay slurs are homophobic, unless the person doesn’t have homophobia in mind, when they use homophobic slurs, but also, gay slurs are also harmless words, so it follows, that homophobia is harmless. Cognitive dissonance is hellava thing.
  8. Yeah that’s fair. To be honest any of the vic clubs winning it would be boring to me, so I’m barracking against all of them, haha. Weirdly, Giants would be my preference as well, I’d really like to see them win it, but for pure entertainment purposes I’d like to see Adelaide make it to the granny. They’re the best team in the comp to watch for mine, love how attacking and fast they play. Giants have been very up and down this year so I fear if they got in the granny against Geelong/Hawks/Collingwood, that they’ll get spanked and it’ll be a [censored] granny AND an insufferable result to me. Ideal granny for watching would be Crows V Brisbane for mine. Would be a cracker of a game. But want Giants to go all the way. Complicated stuff this finals shenanigans.
  9. Let’s go Radelaide
  10. As a straight white male (the REAL victim in all of this) I find it offensive that the Psych didn’t bring up how hard it is being a straight white male right outta the gates. Woke agenda gone mad.
  11. Queensland only abolished gay panic laws in 2017. South Australia only abolished their gay panic laws in 2020. Some people on this website would call this ‘woke’.
  12. Surely you can see the irony here.
  13. Is there any news on Culley? Small miracle he was able to walk off the ground after that landing, hope he’s ok
  14. Wowzers
  15. Yeah fair! I’ll support any result that’s worse for Collingwood. I’d support the anti-Christ over Collingwood, haha
  16. Go… Brissy? Is that what we want?
  17. Nobody is born homophobic. It is a learned mindset from peoples environments. Culture, is literally what social environment you were raised in. Language is the mechanism we use to convey concepts and ideas to each other and it decides what is acceptable or not, within a culture. So when you are a child and you hear people using gay slurs and it becomes normalised, you learn to associate being gay with being bad and a lesser person (this is dehumanisation). Children then don’t want to be associated with being gay, so will join in on using that language to demonstrate to their peers/family that they are not gay. Sometimes, kids will be so scared to be seen as gay, that they will go on to be violent towards other kids on even the idea that they are gay. If they don’t like another kid, they might call them a gay slur, because being gay is ‘bad’. The other kid doesn’t have to be gay. Some of these kids turn into adults and they carry out violence/abuse/bullying/discrimination randomly, to people they perceive to be gay, that they see in the street. Some of these kids will turn into adults that carry out murders on gay people. Some of these kids will turn into adults that still using gay slurs or homophobic language and pass it on to the next generation. The people that bare the full brunt of this are gay people. Whether it be social ostracism, family rejection, bullying, random abuse on the street, suicide, discrimination at work, vilification, murder, being genocided etc. etc. etc. etc. You can be against this dynamic and speak out against it. Or You can deny it exists, undercut or downplay it, wilfully ignore that this is the reality, obfuscate the discussion or you just really like homophobia actually and want to join in on it because you are still terrified of being perceived as being gay. All of this violence/abuse, begins with what some people say are ‘meaningless’ words.

  20. I wonder what our win/loss record over the past 4 years would look like if you took out oppo junk time goals scored in the last 30 seconds of quarters.
