  1. It's got a bit of a Deckchairs on the Titanic feel about selection. AJ for Jefferson, Laurie for Sharp, Langford for Howes and put Rivers back where he belongs. A few big reputations on thin ice (Fritta, Salem) but with such a long injury list I reckon they're safe for a while yet.
  2. When does our list manager come under scrutiny? In 2021 we had May, Lever, Ben Brown, Langdon and Hibberd play in a premiership. Adam Tomlinson might have too if he hadn't done his knee. Also on the list were Melksham who has been more than serviceable, Majak Daw and Mitch Brown who were never going to be more than depth players. Since then it's been Luke Dunstan, Brodie Grundy, Lachie Hunter, Josh Schache, Jack Billings, Shane McAdam, Tom Fullarton, Tom Campbell, Harry Sharp and Jai Culley. I'll give the last three an exemption as it's early days (although Sharp has shown nothing in two games) but the other seven have collectively added absolutely nothing to our list. Did we just get lucky between 2017 and 2021?
  3. Tigers will argue Lynch was pushed in to it by Weitering. Archer verdict will be divisive no matter the outcome. IMHO Cleary went to ground and Archer tried to go over the top of him. Very stiff to get three weeks.
  4. Admin, please reinstate the facepalm emoji.
  5. I think private schools go back after Easter!
  6. ... and most of his others post knee reconstruction. Tommo gave us a few good games when there was a suitable match up but he is very replaceable. Reading this thread I don't know how he missed Team of the Century (so far). Seventeen other clubs have had an opportunity to get him since he was delisted and nobody has exactly pounced. Having said that I really hope North or West Coast pick him up and he gets to extend his career.
  7. For those of us old enough to remember, Barry was the doorman from the mid 70's. He formed a dynamic duo alongside Arthur Wilkinson for the best part of four decades until Arthur passed away in 2013. Barry continued on until Covid effectively made the role redundant at the start of 2020. Awarded Life Membership in 1995 he remained a devoted Demon (and Tasmanian) right up until his passing last week. Condolences to his family.
  8. Swans have known for quite some time that both Warner and Logan McDonald want to go home. Apparently with Warner it's a matter of when.
  9. Explains why Cox didn't go after the West Coast job.
  10. Thanks Andy. Hope you're all well and have a safe and fabulous break. We don't say it often enough but you do an amazing job with this site and the podcast and it is hugely appreciated. Good luck Binman with pre festive season loading.
  11. So have I. Didn't think to mention that answers were to be sent by DM to me. We'll let the weekday warriors have a crack!

  13. Clayton Oliver (someone was going to do it, may as well be me) Cameron Bruce
  14. Absolutely ecstatic. Booked a holiday to NT several weeks ago, due to fly in to Alice Springs on June 1. Now I just have to break the news to the spouse. If this turns out to be my last ever post you'll know it wasn't well received. Seriously we can have no complaints. Last seven weeks in Melbourne is huge and we were always going to cop Geelong down there having missed out this year.
  15. I just love the hypocrisy of the AFL. Fine Ken Hinkley $20K because gobbing off at an opposition player is a terrible image and not at all what we want to see. Less than two months later promote the Port v Hawthorn grudge match as the highlight of Gather Round. They are nothing if not predictable.
  16. Well deserved but way overdue. A strong Dees connection to the nominations. Former club doctor Peter Brukner is Victoria's nomination for Senior Australian of the Year.
  17. I've been channeling my inner Tom Morris and working the phones hard all morning (well, I spoke to one person who was connected to Casey a few years ago). When Jones was sidelined with injury in 2021 he helped out at Casey coaching and left a very good impression.
  18. I really do hope the footy club does something. There is not a parent in the country whose heart isn't going out to that poor family this week. Puts all the BS we argue about on here into perspective.
  19. There is an upside to Spargo only playing one game. It gave Picket Fence one less thing to whine about in his weekly "Selectors have got no idea" post.
  20. One would assume so but all my info on this comes from the Geelong side so I don't know the intricacies of that.
  21. Oliver met with Geelong. Geelong asked the question. Melbourne asked for three first rounders and told them we won't budge on that. Geelong said they won't/can't do that. Subject closed. For McClure et al to bang on about clearing his Dees locker and choosing his number at the Cats is pure BS.
