Will pin this post to see what happens on Wednesday night selection. My feeling is that T-mac will be dropped for Brown and Weid stays in because he PERFORMED. Binman, I suggest you stop talking about the Mcdonalds, you seem to curse them! Another bog ordinary performance from him.

If a hypothetical came up where he left and we were given two top 10 picks in exchange, I'd be more than comfortable that we'd be able to cover the loss of Luke. Whatever we decided to do with those picks. It's a win/win because he'd be leaving at the height of his hype and we'd paid handsomely for it. I think you're just missing the entire point cobba so let's leave it.

Spoke to a staffer, said they're expecting 40,000. Surely not!
-
You've left out the the myriad of options we'd have use those hypothetical two top 10 picks. Whether it's draft, trade or both, you're completely underestimating the ammunition we'd have. Jackson is great. Two top 10 picks would be great. We win.

Put them to the sword dee's. No mercy shown, play like it's a final. Anyone know what the predicted crowd is?
-
It's a win/win either way. He's a budding star. And if he leaves, we know we'll be getting a ridiculous offer. Can't lose. Dees.

For where our club is at, the list profile, the game plan and the individual stars we have, there is no chance we should be allowing Essendon to be in the game going into the last quarter. Last week was a different story with travel, a dewy game and a highly talented and hungry young group. Essendon are low on confidence, are missing a host of names and are playing us in front of a pro Melbourne crowd. I'd expect our entire group to be switched on and ready to play high intensity and tough footy. And I expect a response in the middle of the ground from Gawn and co. Whilst we are tucking the wins off, I'd like to see a ruthless and accountable midfield and a Mac Gawn who starts hitting to the right spots. Our backline is makeshift so the mids need to up their game in there because we have been comprehensively beaten at centre bounce in certain quarters far too easily for the first two games.

You don't have the best track record with players named McDonald.

For the one hundredth time, it's nothing to do with one game and it's got all to do with his form since the finals to now.
-
Definitely potted him over the journey but he has developed into a seriously reliable role player who is now uber consistent. Not only that, is a man of substance and you can see how invested in the club he is. A fabric player now and hope he ends up a 200+ gamer for this club.

Good to see Lever in those training pics, anyone got an inside word on his status? I'm hearing it's worse than expected and typically the club are being extremely ambiguous about it which annoys to no end. Same can be said for Petty. 4 week injury that turns into an 8 weeker and zero transparency as to why!

The calls for Tom Mac to be dropped are not to do with last night alone, not sure why posters think that. He has been poor and underwhelming now since the start of the finals last year. Now, I can see that he is more versatile than Weed and has runs on the board as a defender but surely at some point enough is enough. He constantly complains to umpires, regularly fumbles the ball and the longer he keeps his spot playing at this level, the more I see Weideman wanting out, (regardless of him signing). It just sends a poor msg to players that are busting themselves to get into the side. The fact that weed wasn't given a look in after his four goal half against the blues VFL side still baffles me. You'd think they'd give him a chance playing a full praccie game. I also don't buy the "don't drop anyone after a win" talk. It's a nonsense and such a simplistic view. Every side is different, match ups are different and structures are different. Selection is based on a number of factors. Not only a win or a loss.

Weed for T Mac. PLEASE. Hibberd for Hunt. Move Bowey to a flank and Hibberd plus deep.

Awesome news.

Crowd estimate?

Nev's evolution, growth and desire to work for a higher purpose has been a pleasure to watch over the years. There's no limit to his ambition and the path he is forging will be long lasting. He could be anything. Love the fella.

Anyone heard about crowd estimate/ticket sales update?

Demonlanders are a funny lot. Change the narrative when it suits them. I'm one of those supporters who was unimpressed and underwhelmed with a number of players from Thursday night's performance against the blues. It highlighted arrogance and a bit of immaturity again. You see, the same demonlanders were lauding our ferocious, full contact training hit outs in the build up to our prelim and Grand Final matches.. But the same amount of risk is associated in those training sessions as there is in a practice game. However as soon as we're made to look foolish, disorganised, ill disciplined and lacking intensity and skill level, the same group will make an excuse to say "it's only a practice game and we clearly don't care". Makes little sense if you ask me and it's not the win or loss I care about. It's the manner in which a number of our key players presented themselves on gameday. Why would we go harder for longer against North and then not against Carlton? The talk from our club has long been we train how we play and that is with peak intensity. Always. It's about respecting the game and opposition. No? What the nuffies forget is that practice games are about tuning up for round 1 and the closer you get to round 1, the higher the intensity levels go. I would say that based on our last game and the doggies last game, they have had far better preparation for our round 1 Grand final rematch. Their game against Brisbane was the complete opposite of ours and for that I think they go in with an advantage. I won't be shocked if they jump us because of this. And for us, early season momentum and establishing ourselves as the benchmark is what we must be hell bent on doing if we want to challenge again and keep sides at bay. We want to remain intimidating when opposition come up against us. That can so easily fall away if we start slowly. So while the result against Carlton means nought, the prep for our lead in may take a hit. Beverage is the kind of bloke who would use that game against Carlton as a reference point to charge up his side pointing out that we looked arrogant, lazy and sloppy. Other teams can do that too. So it's more than just a practice game.

Joel Smith having a cracker @binman!

Clayton unbelievably lazy and disinterested.

You know we're not taking a game seriously when Harmes is named on a back flank.

Big calls without zero evidence. Is this new info? Last I heard was Garry Lyon speaking of how unbelievable a position we are in having spoken to Pert himself. That's evidence. Not to mention the countless ties and connections he has to the club. -
