Slow news week on Demonland..

Oath. Players like Gawn, Kosi and Petracca will help. Reckon we need another excitement machine over this period to attract even more kids.
-
He'd definitely benefit from a clearly defined role, he looks lost at essendon and a shadow of what he was at GWS.
-
There's always the glass half fuller. We played Essendon on a Friday night for our home game and got a measly 44,000. And I'd argue it was a 50/50 split of supporters, maybe even closer to 55/45 in Essendon's favour All in all I think it's fair to be disappointed in our crowds given we've come off a flag and we're undefeated after 7 rounds. I'm sure the club would have been expecting more. Carlton and Hawthorn managed close to 70,000 on a similar overcast dead slot Sunday. I'm not expecting that kind of figure given their supporter base but to not even crack 50,000 is poor given our success.

I swear when I read the match report last night it was listed as 29,000! Must have been a typo because it's been changed.
-
Can't complain with another win this time of the year. If we're playing like this three rounds out of finals against bottom sides it will be less than ideal. Can complain about the crowd. 29,000?! Pathetic from us! Carlton and Hawthorn had almost 70,000 there a couple weeks ago.

Would love to put the game to bed by half time. Would be nice to click for a first half of footy. Our midfield haven't really fired in first halves. It's always been a response after half time.

Don't care how many wins or losses we have as long as we finish top two at season's end. If we manage that, I can't see us not making another Grand Final. Teams would be [censored] themselves playing us after what we did last year in the finals series. Not only that, Melbourne supporters would turn out in droves to see us at the G in a home qualifying/prelim final which would only help the team more. The fact we are winning from our reputable grinding brand and the psychological edge which is now building every single game is ridiculous. It's such an enormous advantage, Dunstan spoke about it in his post game interview. Stated how notacibly calm we remain throughout a game no matter the score. What a time to be a Melbourne supporter. We were putrid offensively last night and still Richmond were nowhere near us. It's genuinely scary.

Man. Smith gives me nightmares. It's not even that one howler in the third. He's just such a liability defensively. It's 50/50 whether or not he kills a contest or let's it go through and his positioning defensively is all over the shop. He is just so Frost-like at times. Goodwin seemed to talk him up at the presser but maybe that's cause it was a direct question on Smith rather than Goody going out of his way to talk him up. If Lever is fit next week I'm not sure who else they're dropping. I think I like the idea of keeping Dunstan in while we can afford to. Personally I wouldn't even mind dropping Harmes for Viney after last night (especially if injured) but I also thought he was poor. Jack could play a bit more half forward swapping with Sparrow and Dunstan on and off the bench for time in middle. Doubt it'll happen but I'd like to see Dunstan gel with the team a bit and see what he can deliver after a handful of games.

Would like not to see Smith play ever again if he dishes that up. Honestly, as bad as Frost as far as giving away goals and shots on goal. A few down tonight. Rivers won't want to play like that again with Hibberd and Salem not too far off. Weid keeps his spot and so does Brown. They made the most of what was horrendous ball coming in. Dunstan and Smith out for you know who. Amazing we can win a game like that against that oppo having been so off offensively
-
So many of our players are down and we're still winning. Unbelievable team we are.
-
Not sure you can blame Weid with the ball coming in. It's been atrocious. And he still has two and has competed strongly in the air. Smith a liability defensively. No time for him whatsoever.
-
Is there a more predictable and useless throway like than "due for a loss"? It's the worst saying. Based on our form and Richmond's form, we're not due for anything but another win. And that's all you can go by.
-
I thought so too. About 90% on here didn't.
-
I'll leave this here. Oracle Steve signing out.
-
And imagine what we would have got if we were travelling as poorly as Essendon? 20k was seriously poor and we should have done better.
-
Anyone have an idea how ticket sales are going for this game?
-
Goodwin rewards form and was effusive in his praise for Weed's game last night and his last three weeks. Imo he wouldn't say that and then drop him for Brown. McDonald it is.
-
Disagree, he looked more dejected than normal and has been playing that way for a while now. And Thursday night will reveal all.
-
And it'll be Tom.
-
Posters potting Weed have no idea. He's been better than T Mac for the last three weeks. His impact at contests and pressure has been much better than Tom's and Tom has given away numerous stupid free kicks. Watch Goodies presser. He basically says as much. Weed won't be going anywhere.
