I love the NBA lottery system. NBA is my second favorite sport and I love how its run (besides the excessive player movement) So 14 teams miss playoffs and they all get lottery balls. The bottom 3 all have a 14% chance at pick 1 and the worst they can get is pick 5. (I have attached this years lottery odds) This is what happened to Detroit this year, They had the worst record (17-65) and they slipped back to pick 5 in the lottery. Spurs who had an equal % chance at pick 1 won it Rockets also had equal % chance but slipped to 4th Hornets come up and grabbed 2nd Trailblazers grabbed 3rd. Generally the poor teams still get decent draft picks but you won't get the first. This year 7"5 freak athlete Victor Wembanyama is probably the best prospect since Lebron in the draft and those 3 teams were all trying to give themselves the best chance to get him. There have been some miracles in drafting where teams with less than a 3% chance have won the lottery. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/chicago-bulls/top-5-nba-draft-lottery-miracles IMG_1426.avif
  2. Rhyce Shaw found it hard enough just coaching that team and had to quit for his own personal health after one season. I think coaching an AFL footy team, especially a bad one would be one of the most scrutinised jobs in the country. The mental toll of having your name in the paper and on the radio everyday would be horrific.
  3. Quick thought on how this might affect our fixturing in future. If this goes through, when the Kings birthday lands on awkward midweek days we would likely see us play Carlton and Essendon either side of the round due to AFL trying to equal out the rest days.
  4. Blasphemy! The MCG is the best stadium
  5. I noted Jackson and Bedford because they were both players we wanted to keep. Yes Harmes said yes to a meeting. Players say yes to meetings all the time, doesn't mean they are going to leave.
  6. So many good players have left other clubs after Premiership success but they haven't really left ours. We've lost Jackson and Bedford... neither we are missing. Nothing like the exodus of Richmond where players chased money and opportunity. We have a different culture at our club, it's elite. In my opinion being the 24th player at Melbourne is better than being the 5th/6th midfielder anywhere else except maybe Geelong or Collingwood.
  7. Please watch more VFL. Laurie has shown plenty at that level and Woey is developing nicely.
  8. Must be a slow news day for the media. Let's look at a few things. He is contracted until the end of next year He is a premiership player He grew up a Melbourne Supporter He has many close friends at the club He got snubbed by Brad Scott at the end of last year. Nothing to see here, move along people.

I brought a friend from the UK who had never been to the footy before. I made sure we were there before the team ran out so he could experience the banners. He thought they were incredible and couldn't believe how big they were. He'd never seen anything like it. Thank you @WalkingCivilWar for all your hard work that contributes to the great culture of our game.
  10. Happy to clarify! Previous years averages were for the full home and away seasons including finals. I left 2020 out because of reduced quarters.
  11. The numbers support that we look a bit more like 2018. Which was the last time we were also rated number 1 in the comp for scoring. Our attack and defence averages for scores are actually a lot closer to 2018 than our previous two seasons. At the moment in 2023 we are kicking an average of 16.10 107 a game. Which is considerably more than: 2022 12.12 87 (up 20 points per game) 2021 13.12 90 (up 17 points per game) and a lot closer to our 2018 scoring average of 15.13 101. (up 6 points a game) Now on defence we are averaging 74 against this year, which was: 69 in 2022 64 in 2021 79 in 2018

Surely this sets the precedent for JVR to get off. It was a marking contest. Amazing that this gets 2 weeks and Chol doesn't even get looked at. His action was much worse.
  14. His jaw is all chin
  15. Apologies IRW I was being flippant
  16. Just a two piece suit, you can leave the 3 piece at home.
  17. If I were you I'd wear my colours to the game and wait outside the North rooms til my friend is done 🤣
  18. I agree, loved hogan but there isn't enough positives there. He oozes talent but doesn't work hard enough for it. He doesn't have it and what it is is what Trac, Oliver and Gus have. That unwavering work ethic. That's how you get to be elite.
  19. I can completely see why you feel that way however I don't think Jackson stuffed us around maliciously. Being a 20-21 year old away from home he's most likely not mature enough to feel comfortable telling the authoritative figures at the club that he want's to go home mid season and then deal with working there for the rest of the year. He could have thought something like if I tell them I'm leaving then I'm probably playing at Casey for the rest of the year. He chose to be avoidant of the issue with the club and in turn it did affect our season negatively, but it is what it is. Our club did everything right by him and that is great to see.
  20. The solution with the forward line would be TMac or Brown but both are either out of form or not healthy/fit enough for the role at the level its required to be.
  21. I know and only 2nd by 2 points. Image how much better we would be if we fixed our kicking inside 50 efficiency. It's the difference between the competition being so even and us blowing everyone else away.
  22. Yes, You are correct about round 5, slipped my mind but I am trying to not think about that game ever again. I really value him so highly as a defender and don't know why we are robbing Steven to pay Jacob. We have seen this regularly in defence but forward in these games he has only taken a handful of marks. We are going shorter in defence with the 7 rotation now being - May, Lever, Rivers, Brayshaw, Hibberd, Bowey and McVee which in turn has seen an increase in marks by opposition inside their attacking 50. Agreed that it ain't broke. I'm a big campaigner for the Keep Petty in defence, I haven't seen enough results to change my mind yet.
  23. I've been very impressed anytime I have heard ANB speak. He bleeds leadership.
  24. completely agree, we both think the same way and need to find those kicks and angles we had earlier in the year. I also think if we switched the ball a little more as it would open up the ground a bit better. We rarely do it compared to other teams but when we do we tend to get an avenue to goal or at worst a turnover at half forward.
