Arguably has form in this space… decided he wanted out of basketball mid-tour in South America. Maybe the kid is just a homebody and is only just realising that now. Best of luck to him - he has done enough to facilitate the possibility of playing a sport he loves professionally in his home state and is using perfectly-legal levers to make it happen. We just need to focus on looking after ourselves now. Whether that is strangling the absolute best short term deal out of Freo/WC or maintaining a perception of being a ‘caring club’ (to safeguard future drafting of interstate talent), I’ll leave that up to the club.

Maybe early Melb/Freo negotiations haven’t been as good as his mgmt would’ve liked and they don’t want to expose him by nominating a club and not getting there… Dangerous ploy if it is a PSD threat though because if WC throw up an offer Melbourne prefer, Melb will make noise that they are our preferred trading partner and Luke will be somewhat locked into going down that path (or, if he doesn’t, he will look like he is playing games).

Why are we talking about Salem in a trade rumours thread? Am I missing something? Understand people are desperate to share their opinion on what the team needs/doesn’t need but that shouldn’t live in a trade rumour thread, surely.

Why would they eat him for breakfast? Is that because he is young or based on his specific running patterns? Personally, I disagree on both fronts. I think he offers something when ball hits the ground and is arguably less predictable for the opposition as a target because they haven’t had a proper look at him.

Given it is a final not out of the realm of possibility they keep their cards closer to their chest. However probably more likely the JVR mystery is mainly designed to put a rocket up BBB

.Not really sure what ‘capable’ means in this context… One thing that can’t be argued is he is inconsistent up frwd and is an absolutely terrible shot for goal, which annoyingly is an important skill for the position. His goal accuracy this yr is 34% which is in the worst bracket for performance in the comp…. The majority of NBA teams have a more efficient 3 point average than Max has accurate shots at the big sticks.

The way I read it is; Our game plan has three parts; 1. defensive structure that limits scoring (priority) and promotes rebound/turnover (2nd priority) 2. Strength at stoppage (to drive forward) 3. Contest and re-contest in the forward 50. we’re a bit (just a bit) off in 2 of 3; 1. Opposition put most effort into this - keep May & Hibbo deep when possible and keep Lever accountable. Salem & Bowey off too. 2. Feel this part of our game remains strong. 3. TMac missing a decent problem - largely because he creates space/protection for BBB who either marks it or hits contests better to provide more quality ground ball for our smalls. Plus he is worth a few goals too. a few screws a little bit loose, but just a little bit.
