Rating 2021 team Against 1998, 2000 & 2018
I’m with those who say the 1994 team was outstanding. But the team includes the coach, and our coach then completely wrecked that team. He wanted everyone to “share the football“ which meant hand passing to each other on the back line, when we had Lyon, Schwarz and others in the forward line just waiting for the ball to come down. The present team is absolutely superb, although the forward line is yet to dazzle. Despite all the Goodwin haters, we have a much better coach now than in 1994 and that makes all the difference.

Danger period lies ahead ...
I am really looking forward to the Geelong game. We owe them so much! And I think we will do them at their homeground and it will be sweet.

How nice it is too watch other teams and think, Gee these teams are rubbish. Watching a bit of Carlton v WC. Gee these teams are rubbish.

Is Jack Viney an automatic inclusion?
100% agree. Bleeds for Melbourne, inspires by actions, never concedes.

Our kids are doing great!!
One of the absolutely fantastic things about Melbourne over the last few years has been our ability to take relatively low draft choices and turn them into gold. Trent Rivers is a perfect example.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
I don’t know why everyone thinks Hibberd goes on Cameron. I would think Rivers is the better match up – but I guess we’ll find out tonight.

Langdon Concussion
Jones doesn’t chase, and against a high-scoring team like Brisbane we need EVERY player to be capable of pressuring when we don’t have the ball.
-
May’s Kick-in From Behind
I think that’s exactly what he’s doing, and it will be interesting to see what they do when Langdon is out this week.
-
CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
No change. Viney is weeks away.

2021 Injury List
Not trying to be funny, asking a serious medical question: what actually goes wrong with a groin? And how does it get fixed?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MAJAK DAW
FWIW, I think we have a glaring hole in our depth. Since Tomlinson went down, we have relied on Petty and he does not seem to be a champion – to be honest, if he comes up against the class player, he will be destroyed. And the named key defenders in the Casey team were both Casey-listed players. I believe we need Daw, just for that depth in case we have another injury in the backline.

A Danger Game
Are used to absolutely dreading it when we were playing a low team and I would read on the MFC website: “we won’t take them lightly says Jones”. We were guaranteed to lose. I used to absolutely dread it when we were playing a low team and I would read on the MFC website: “We won’t take them lightly, says Jones”. We were guaranteed to lose. I think they are different now. Goodwin says: we expect every team to bring their best. There seems to be no assumption that low teams are easybeats. So I am very hopeful.

CHANGES: Rd 10 vs Adelaide
Chandler has to get another go. But if Jackson is fit - who goes? I was all for getting BBB but he is slow and very clumsy at ground level.

GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton
Where is Petty???

CHANGES: Rd 09 vs Carlton
I thought Harmes was excellent and I thought Brayshaw beat his opponent. However, there are a few very tired looking players who could do with the rest, IMO. Not dropped, just rested for a week.
-
TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Harms is obviously like for like with Bonnie cash of course, not as good but approve on top 23 player. Harmes is obviously like for like with Viney - of course, not as good but a proven top 22 player. I, for one, I’m not going to argue against the coaches at the moment given their record this season.

Why Oliver is More Dangerous Than You Think
Completely agree with the last post, and generally I can’t understand how people don’t see it with this player. Two Brownlow votes in his first game and he hasn’t stopped since. Our best midfielder since Barassi, I have no doubt, but perhaps Petracca will come to equal him when he has done it consistently for as long. We are so fortunate at the moment, at Melbourne, we have four players in the top 10 in the coaches votes – not the team has more than one. And three of them form our midfield setup.

They’re very good at it. They’ve been doing it for years.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Just watched some of the replay. How on earth can anyone possibly say Gawn is not the best Ruckman in the league? Why did they even talk about Naitanui or Grundy?
-
CHANGES: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne
I’d have Brown for sure, and a few other changes to refresh them - and also, that will stop anyone thinking that it is an easy game, after tonight, which would be such a Melbourne thing to think.

WB top of the ladder? They look ordinary to me.

TICKETING: Rd 06 vs Richmond
I did click on N52. It said there were seats available. When I clicked to except my tickets, I found the tickets allocated to me were on the other side of the ground. Is there some link that I should be using that I have missed?
-
TICKETING: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Can someone help me? I have reserved seats in Bay N52. I go to Ticketek, into my barcode, enter the Melbourne allocation, click on N52, which it tells me has seats available, but when I am allocated the seats, they are on the other side of the ground! Is there any special technique on the Ticketek site to get seats in the position that you indicate?

The Tom McDonald dilemma
Bringing BBB and Weed in together is too big a change imv. Our attack is ranked sixth in the league on points scored, and if we had kicked straighter we would be a lot higher than that. Suddenly bringing in two marking forwards would completely change the dynamic, and against the top team…? One or the other, to replace Mitch Brown, is the way to go. When Frisch is ready and Jones had his 300, the change is obvious.
-
Chunky
I agree with both of you. He should put his hand up and ask for a couple of weeks off “managed”, then play his 300th in a home game at the G against Sydney, and then retire. It was interesting in the Best 22 thread how few people had him in it - and apparently Goody agrees.
